14 Humiliating the Guard
The Guard had an arrogant expression as he was dealing with Adam, noticing his posture and expression, nobody could say that he was in the presence of the prince. It was more like he didn't give a damn about Alex's identity.
Adam clearly noticed that as he examined him from head to toe, the guard was standing there casually with no signs of formal respect and edict that was given to a prince. It was important in the Kingdom to give proper respect to a prince.
"I have brought the order from the King, milord." The word milord was spoke in a sarcastic tone as if he was laughing at saying such a word and Adam was quick to notice that fact.
He frowned slightly showing his disappointment in this guard but still didn't say anything and ignored the disrespect, it was expected that a trashy prince wouldn't be respected in the kingdom but for a servant to show such disrespect was going over the top.
"Is this about my territory and the men under me?" Adam got straight to the point as he didn't want to continue some useless talk with this moron.
"What's the point in talking about that? How about we talk about if you even have the ability to rule that territory? With Prince Alex's weak ability in Cultivation, I do not think that the soldiers would be willing to work under you." The guard had an arrogant expression as he lightly chuckled at the supposed future that was waiting for Adam.
Adam simply stared back with a dead gaze as he replied, "Those words can be seen as insubordination towards the king. Do you mean to say that you won't receive King's words if his cultivation was weak."
Now this made him stop laughing as this was no small matter, insubordination against the King results to death, that was a known fact that had been known for many centuries.
The man was slightly sweating as he quickly replied back and tried to cover his weakness, "What? How is that insubordination prince Alex? Your point is null and void here, your words are based on if, that means, a supposition, the hard fact is that King's Cultivation isn't weak at all."
With that, he proudly looked straight into the eyes of Adam as if saying, "I have won this round!" The guards face had a victorious look but he didn't expect Adam to not have any great reaction that he suspected, in fact it was different from what he imagined.
But Adam simply facepalmed as he heard that response, "Are you an idiot? The whole empire knows that the Emperor's condition isn't very good right now. No matter how great his cultivation in his prime was, he is a mere shell of his former self, the hard truth is that he is weak. So, tell me now, will you stop serving him now that he has grown weak?"
The cold gaze continued to press on the guard for more answers, the guard started to internally sweat for answers as he didn't expect him to bring in king's health into this matter 'Just what happened to him? I was told that he is a trashy prince with no power, he takes the insults as he is used to them and doesn't reply back unless it is to his brother. So, why is he doing that now?'
Adam suddenly shook his head as he spoke out, "Your reactions give out your thoughts that it's not even funny. Just say what the King ordered you to." Suddenly, his eyes turned cold and sharp as he ordered, "You are being a nuisance by standing here. Don't forget that even if my Cultivation is non-existent, my word is law in the Kingdom, I don't think the my father will mind about a missing head..."
At this moment, Adam emitted a noble aura, this wasn't a battle aura, no, it was the Noble Aura that came with him being born in such a prestigious royal family. It was integrated into his bones that was hard to part, it was an innate thing that sticked with him, it reminded others around him that he was a ruler, someone who ruled.
The guard's heart started to race around in fear and gulped a mouthful of saliva when he heard about the last sentence, it was as if the death was looming around his figure and it was about to catch him the moment he made another mistake.
The guard was nervous as he heard the straightforward threat in such a calm tone, it was as if the prince was ordering his food, completely normal tone with no signs of discomfort. This was the moment that the guard realized that he fucked up with the wrong person.
'I have doomed myself, I should just say what the King ordered me to say and get out of here before this demon takes action.' Were the thoughts going on in the guards head.
He coughed a little as he spoke out, "The King ordered me to inform you that Prince Alex is going to manage the Lerwick Town, he has his men waiting there for him at his residence with the commander incharge there to submit to you as you reach there."
This was a name unfamiliar for Adam, he didn't have the slightest idea where was this place, what was the geographical situation? He didn't know what sort of people lived there and how people lived there?
'This town's name, it is unfamiliar for me, I don't think that the prince has ever heard this name as well. With his extensive knowledge, it's surprising that he doesn't know a town like this. Looks like the King gave me a low-key town with little to do, he must not want to put the borders at risk by putting a weakling on an important town. Interesting… So these are the true thoughts of the king about me huh…' These thoughts entered his mind as naturally as if breathing, probably the work of his exponentially developed mind gained from the fusion between souls.
He looked into the eyes of the nervous guard standing in front of him, "You, you can leave now! Your face has started to annoy me." At this, the Guard clenched his fist as he tried to hold his anger.
He was one step away from throwing the first punch but he knew that the moment he did it, he wouldn't be able to live anywhere, he would be hunted along with his wife and he was sure that the Prince Alex knew about it.
If he closely examined his face, he could see a faint smile tugged at his face, this angered him more but also reminded of the consequences if he raised his hand and used force.
He turned around and moved back to the place where he was supposed to report that he had delivered the king's message to the Prince Alex.
Before he was out of range, Adam called out for him, "Tell Prince Louis for me, next time choose a better man for such a strategy." Now, the guard suddenly stopped in his tracks as he turned around and asked a question, "What do you mean Prince Alex?"
He was very nervous and wanted to wipe the sweat that was piling up on his face, he heard the clear deduction, "There is no need to act anymore. You won't win an Oscar here."
"Oscar, what's that?" The Guard was confused by this unknown term as he didn't get what it meant, it sounded like an honour yet he had never heard about it.
Adam suddenly raised his eyebrow as he realized that he had spoken out loud about the Oscar thing, he simply continued ahead without replying to his question, "Didn't the Prince Louis wanted me to get angry at you due to the clear lack of respect and that arrogance?"
"The information about my destination town must have been easy to obtain, and he put you in charge to deliver this information. I wonder, did he want me to raise my hand against you so as to bring this matter to our father that I can't control my anger?" Adam shook his head at the Louis' silly attempt to anger him.
"Tell him one last thing from me, in fact quote it for me, Big Brother, I have managed to hold the embarrassment for so long, I wonder how long you can hold it when it happens to you?" Those were Adam's words for Louis Vermillion, he ordered him in a loud voice, "Now go!"
