32 Flying too high

The Black Market was truly a famous place. With no restrictions on a person's status, even a beggar could buy and sell goods.

And it was currently in this market, that Yi Lan was planning to sell her weapon.

She wore loose pants and a long robe, her figure hidden under its folds. Knee high boots were laced up and her hair was tied back in a ponytail. She resembled a handsome man in his teens.

But for safety purposes, she wore a long cloak, which touched the ground as she walked. Her weapon hung on her shoulders in a small bag, gifted by Yoru.

She walked towards a weapon selling shop and knocked the counter. A young lady with a bountiful chest and rosy lips, greeted her with a smile. "What can I do for you, Sir?'

Yi Lan removed the weapon from her shoulder and placed it on the counter. In a hoarse voice she said, "I want to sell this weapon."

The young lady blinked but nodded and opened the wrapped weapon. Her eyes widened in shock and parts of surprise. In her entire lifetime, she had never seen such a weapon. Mind you, she might look young but she was already over forty.

"Sir, would you mind telling me what this weapon is?" She asked her, hands inspecting the weapon.

"It's a modified version of a bow." Yi Lan answered back gruffly.

The lady could clearly tell that the weapon was made by someone with experience. The workmanship was excellent. The metal was hard but could easily be moulded into the desired shape and the array used was simple. But then what was so strange about this weapon? Something felt amiss.

"Sir, can you wait here for a minute? I need to go call the Master of the shop." The lady asked seriously.

Yi Lan nodded and the lady scurried away.

Inside the shop, an old man was laughing merrily while chatting with his old friend and rival.

"Say Old Ji, how long has it been since we had a good weaponsmith?" The old man said, rubbing his nose, slightly miffed.

"Ah, Old Qing, it really has been a while. The last good one was your son and even he didn't match our requirements. If this is the case, our dreams will truly remain unfulfilled." Old Ji sighed.

Just then, a knock on the door sounded and Old Qing said "What is it?"

"Master, it's Feng'er. I have something to show you." The lady from before said.

"Feng'er, come in." Old Qing answered and she quickly crept in.

"Master, a young man came to our shop to sell this weapon. I cannot recognise it. Please tell me how should I evaluate."

Old Qing was surprised. "You couldn't recognise it you say?"

Even Old Ji rubbed his beard on hearing this. Feng'er was someone with experience. For her to say something like this..

Feng'er showed them the weapon in her hands. Both the men were shocked as even they didn't recognise the weapon. Old Qing took it from her hands and carefully inspected it.

"The design is simple, not heavy, high tensile strength. It's mechanism follows that of a bow and yet...." Old Qing frowned.

Old Ji spoke up. "Old Qing, let me have a look."

In terms of experience, he was greater than Old Qing.

The weapon was none other than a gun.

Using various herbs, Yi Lan had managed to make gunpowder and had put her amazing weaponsmith skills to work. Using the scrap metal she had pawed-uh, taken from Chun Jie, she made the metal encasing of the gun.

It was a bit tough making it as there were no modern technology here, but for Yi Lan, who knew how to built everything from scratch, this was a walk in the garden.

Old Ji aimed at a spot on the wall and pressed the trigger, making a loud noise as the bullet flew through the air and hit the spot.

Feng'er gasped in surprise. Such a weapon, which didn't require any spiritual energy to work, if produced in masses, could be very helpful in battles.

The gun hadn't been discovered yet in this world, which is why both the elders were shocked to see such a unique weapon.

Old Ji pursed his lips and looked at Old Qing with a serious look. Old Qing nodded and said to Feng'er. "Feng'er, go bring the person who made this here."

"Yes Master." She bowed and went to find the young man.

It was just that when she went back, the young man was no longer there. In his place was a small note.

'Miss, I was in a hurry, so I just took a small bag of coins kept there. It wasn't much, so I'll come back later to collect the rest.

P.S You need to improve the security here.'

Feng'er was astounded. They never had security because of Old Jing's reputation. But this man had actually said to improve the security? And what did P.S even mean?

Feng'er couldn't help but let out a laugh. She went and informed the men, and even they rubbed their beards in helplessness.

"Leave it. Feng'er, the next time he comes, remember to call him inside first. He's as of now, a V.I.P guest of the Weapon Clan." Elder Qing said.

Feng'er was shocked, but nodded. It had been years since she heard Elder Qing say this. A V.I.P member of the Weapon Clan, with priveleges no less than a Prince.

Meanwhile, the said person was roaming around in search of a good place to spiritual fruits like the one Yoru had given her before.

Feeling stuffy, she removed the cloak's head and breathed in cool air, her sweaty face feeling relieved.

Lan looked around and finally found a shop that sold spiritual fruits.

She asked the shopkeeper, "Mister, how much for a hundred of them?"

Surprised, the shopkeeper replied "Young Miss, it's one silver Royal for 10 fruits, so it will be 10 silver Royal for 100 fruits." The shopkeeper was delighted as he had never gotten such a good deal before. Almost all his fruits were being purchased. Excited he asked, "Young Man, could you please purchase the rest of them too? I'll give you a discount of 30 copper Royals." The shopkeeper unexpectedly, could recognise Yi Lan as a female.

In Plutarch, the money system was simple.

1 gold Royal = 100 silver Royals.

1 silver Royal = 100 copper Royals.

1 gold Royal= 100 silver Royals = 10,000 copper Royals.

Yi Lan asked him," Why sell them so cheap?"

The shopkeeper answered truthfully," Young Miss, we are people with no prestige. Everyday, I put spiritual fruits for selling, but most of them aren't bought and they rot here. Instead of wasting them, I wish to give them to you."

Yi Lan nodded, pleased that she had gotten such a good deal. She paid for the fruits and tied them up in her bag.

Just then, a nasal voice spoke up loudly, "Brother Wang, I'm hungry."

A male's voice softly rang out, "Tell me what you want to eat Ying'er. Brother will buy it for you."

"I want those fruits!" A girl in her teens, with beautiful hair, but normal face spoke arrogantly to a boy older than her.

The boy was extremely handsome, making the girls there whisper and giggle.

Wang Wei was speechless. The fruits his sister was talking about were spiritual ones, meant for training. They were of no use to his sister, who had already crossed the level of needing to train using these fruits.

"Ying'er, they're fruits meant for cultivation. They can't be wasted like that." He tried to explain but Wang Ying stomped her foot in reply.

"No! I want to eat them! If you don't buy me those fruits, I won't eat anything for three days." The girl puffed out her cheeks.

Wang Wei sighed. "Alright."

Turning to the shopkeeper, he asked "How much for the whole lot?"

The shopkeeper replied shaking his head, "I'm sorry, I just sold the fruits."

"Brother!" Wang Ying whined.

Wang Wei scratched his neck, embarrassed and asked, "To whom did you sell it to?"

The shopkeeper was silent, not wanting Yi Lan to be in trouble.

Seeing josh dilemma, Yi Lan said coldly from the side, "It was me."

"Ah? I'm sorry Young man, but do you mind selling it to us? My sister here is hungry." Wang Wei said in a daze. He was stunned by Yi Lan's looks.

Wang Ying remained unperturbed by Yi Lan's appearance. She already had a person she cared about. Even though she admitted Lan's looks were good, she didn't want to betray her heart.

"I refuse." She sais coldly and turned around to leave.

"Huh? Wait!" Wang Ying screeched.

Wang Wei immediately caught Yi Lan's hands, surprised by its softness. Cold violet eyes glared at him, making him drop the hand.

"What?"

"We need those fruits. Here." Wang Ying said haughtily, and dropped a bag of coins near Yi Lan's feet.

Yi Lan stayed still, not picking up the bag.

"What are you waiting for? A beggar like you should be grateful I even bother to pay you this much. It'll suffice you for your entire lifetime." She sneered, sticking her nose in the air. From Yi Lan' s clothes, it didn't seem like she belonged to a well-off family.

Wang Wei's brows furrowed. He knew his sister had gone too far this time.

A murderous aura burst out of Yi Lan and her dark violet eyes made chill run in Wang Ying's body.

"Brother!" She screamed and hid behind Wang Wei.

"Beggar? I'll cut off your tongue if you dare say that again. Eating these just because you're hungry, aren't you flying too high? What are you so proud of? Was any of this money earned by you? Leeching off your family's money, do you have any pride? Sure, a rich family is part of a person's good luck, but without a good attitude, you'll just be labelled as a snob. You have no right to call anyone a beggar, when you yourself have an attitude worse than a beggar's." Yi Lan spat out.

Wang Ying clutched her hands tightly and flew towards Yi Lan in a rage, Wang Wei rushing after her, to stop her." You bas-" Ying screamed.

"Who dares to attack my disciple?!" A melodic voice rang out in the crowd.
