31 Like a good dog
Warm rays of sunlight hit the silver coloured hair lying on the grass, making it shine. Yi Lan yawned as she slowly got up, stretching her aching body.
She could feel that her spiritual energy had increased. 'Uh, how do we check that again?' Her face contorted in thought.
"Meh." She shrugged and went back to the palace, her stomach growling. On her way, she found the Crown Prince Che Ling, sitting on a furnished chair. On his lap was a beautiful girl, wearing a hanfu that had a slit in the middle, revealing her pale white legs.
Her dark hair stood out in the pure white hanfu. Light green eyes locked on Yi Lan, a shine appearing in them. One of her hands was wrapped possessively around Che Ling's neck and the other was roaming inside his robe, feeling his taut muscles.
Che Ling was busy burying his head in the girl's hair and didn't notice Yi Lan, who didn't even bother looking at it. When she first met him, she was surprised by seeing his power, but nowhere that she had spent some time here, her slight awe had already been replaced with disgust of his playboy ways. But deep down, she felt that he wasn't as simple as he seemed. At the very least, he wasn't as disgusting as Mo Huo.
The girl on his lap raised an eyebrow elegantly when she saw Yi Lan taking a seat quickly and gulpinh down food, uncaring that the Crown Prince was in front of her.
She spoke in a melodic voice, "Your Majesty, May I know who this young lady is?"
"Hm?" Che Ling raised his head and took a look, gulping on the sight of Yi Lan eating like an animal.
"She-she's the heir to the Yi Clan, Yi Meng." He said in a soft voice.
'The Crown Prince is shaken by her? Interesting.' The girl thought as her lips widened to show a stunning toothy smile. Aloud she said, "Shouldn't Your Majesty introduce me to her?"
Che Ling gave a nervous laugh and nodded. What could he even say? For some reason, he was wary of Yi Lan, whose killing intent was still engraved in his memories.
"Yi Meng." He called out.
"...." No response.
"Yi Meng." He called out again.
"...." Still no response.
"Yi Meng!" He called out in a louder voice, embarrassed on being ignored.
Yi Lan put down the chicken leg she had been wolfing-uh no, eating and looked at him with a 'What-the-hell-is-wrong-with-you-dude' look.
"What? Don't you know it's bad manners to converse while eating? If you don't even know such basic etiquette, it would better for you to give up on the throne." She wiped her hands and her lifted her legs to place them on the table. Picking an apple, she leaned back casually.
"... " Che Ling.
"... " The girl.
Manners? What right did she have to preach about manners, when she herself was mannerless?
Swallowing back the insults he wanted to throw at her, he coughed and said, "Yi Meng, meet Huang Anjing, the head Minister's daughter. Jing'er, this is Yi Meng."
Yi Lan smirked on seeing the beautiful girl, who's was oozing with seductiveness. The girl in return, gave a smile, showing her pretty dimples.
"Say, Che Ling. How did you manage to snag such a beauty?" She drawled out.
"You-" Che Ling's hand ached to hit the rude girl, but he held back.
Yi Lan ignored him and walked up to Huang Anjing. In a suggestive manner, she spoke "My lady, I'm sure this Che Ling is useless in bed. I suggest your find a better man to fulfil your needs. With your looks, it won't be hard to find a better one. Besides, who knows how many diseases he carries with himself." She winked and after downing a glass of wine, left the dining room.
Che Ling was speechless and shaking with anger. An amused Anjing looked at the departing Yi Lan. With a smile, she stood up from his lap and said," Your Majesty, this lady has to attend to some trivial matters, so I'll excuse myself." She bowed down and left, her movements revealing a part of her pale inner thigh, which had an inked butterfly drawn on it. The depressed Che Ling didn't notice it and continued to wallow in self-pity.
Yi Lan collapsed on her hard bed, tired from all the training she had done. After a while, she got up and took a bath. When she finished, she decided to complete the weapon she had been making.
She needed only a piece of scrap metal to complete it. So, she pulled open the drawers and rummaged through. When she finally found a piece, beside it was a small book.
"Hmm? What's this?" She murmured and picked up the book. On opening it, she found the following words inked on the first page:
This book is only to be opened if there's a day when Yi Meng doesn't exist.
"What?" Her brows furrowed and she flipped through the book's contents.
When she had finished reading, a dark smile spread across her face. "Oho, so that's how it is."
Placing the book back, she completed the weapon. Just as she decided to visit Chun Jie, someone knocked her door. A guard spoke from outside, "Young Miss, the clan head of Yi Clan has summoned you."
"Alright." She replied and stood up.
'Yi Clan. So you finally took a step, huh?'
Shaking her head, she went on her way and soon reached the Clan quarters. Ignoring the stares and snickers of the people, she walked in with her chin up.
She was taken to a room, where thirteen elders were seated. This was the Clan's Council of Elders, where each decision regarding the Clan was taken.
She stood with her spine erect, a cold look on her face. Her mauve robes fluttered around her, like the wings of a butterfly. Her silver hair hung in wisps around her oval face.
"What business do you have with me?" She spoke in a loud voice.
One of the elders banged the table, making the glasses fall on the ground with a crash. "How shameless! Is this how you behave in front of your elders!?Why haven't you bowed down yet?"
Yi Lan sneered. "Bow down? You're not worthy of it."
His face became red with anger and even the other elders' face turned stern. No matter what, they still had their reputable position as an elder. This kind of humiliation was simple unacceptable.
The elder sitting in the middle spoke in a calm voice. "Elder Ying, calm down. We'll deal with her."
"Hello~? I'm right here. Ah, sorry, the age must be getting to you." She smirked, her eyes turning mischievous.
"You brat!" Elder Ying banged the table so hard, that it turned to dust.
Lan clicked her tongue. "Tsk tsk, so this is what the great Council Of Elders is like. Each member acts like they've been bitten by a rabid dog!"
Elder Ying's face couldn't turn more purple with rage. He almost flew toward her, but was stopped by the Elder in the middle.
"Elder Ying. Behave." He said sternly.
"Yes, yes. Behave like a good dog." Lan nodded her head, as if she was serious.
Now, even the other elders rubbed their foreheads. This girl was just taking it too far. Before Elder Ying went berserk, the elder in the middle quickly spoke, "Yi Meng, wr ahve received the news that your betrothal with the Crown Prince had been broken. Further, your body has also been seen by other men before your husband. We cannot ignore such cases. Hence, we have come to the decision to expel you from the Clan. You have disgraced us. It would have been different if you could cultivate, but unlike the genius Yi Ruo, you're just waste." His tone was righteous, as if he was doing a favour for Yi Lan by being just.
Yi Lan couldn't help but snort.
"In the first place, have you ever thought that I didn't have choice when my body was seen by other men? And as for expelling me, I am a member of the main family. Branch members such as you people have the right to expel me, a member of the main family? How audacious of you all! You want to expel me? I'm afraid you're mistaken."
"Yi Meng, know your place. Your parents may have been powerful, but now that they're no longer alive, your responsibility has been passed on to us." The elder spoke.
"Like I said, you'll not get such a chance. Want to expel me? Fine. I'll quit the Clan myself. But remember, as long as I'm alive, I, Yi Meng, swear to pay back bit by bit for all that the Yi Clan had done to me. Mark my words." She turned back with a flourish, but not before dropping the Yi Clan's insignia on the ground and stomping on it.
The elders remained silent. After all, why would they care about the empty threats of a girl who couldn't cultivate?
They would never have thought that they'll regret their decision that they made today. The good-for-nothing Yi Meng, made them eat back their words.
She could feel that her spiritual energy had increased. 'Uh, how do we check that again?' Her face contorted in thought.
