11 The Truth
The Royal Castle, 3 weeks after the duel.
"Oren have you spoke to the Queen yet," Emera was asking Oren. The two were in Emeras supersized forest style room. Oren was sitting on a large boulder, while Emera was wrapped lazily around a tree.
"No not since the day of the duel, Esholyn told me Her mother was doing something important, even though she doesn't know about it, and although I did ask about the True Dragons and the element-stones, She doesn't really know about that either. She doesn't remember how She has the earthstone, but She did say she just acquired the skystone recently from her mother, She also doesn't seem to know they are connected to the True Dragons." Oren paused for a moment, and Emera interjected. "It seems the Queen doesn't want Esholyn to be fearful so She didn't tell her everything."
"Yea Im sure that's what it is, but I still need to see the Queen." Oren had came to that same conclusion.
"OREN!" Suddenly someone started calling out to Him, He knew it was most likely Esholyn, Johnny, and, Harvey.
The four had been spending day in and day out with each other, Oren had even starting taking school lessons and combat training with them although Harvey still seemed upset, He was starting to come around, He was even helping Oren practice swordplay. Oren really enjoyed being with them, He had spent so much time alone, He longed for friendship. Oren went to the door to greet them.
"Whats up guys," Oren spoke happily as He entered the doorway. He was correct all three of his friends were there waiting for Him, Johnny even brought his dog type beast named Merc.
"The Queens looking for you," Harvey was the first to speak "you need to make haste."
Although Harvey had pledged His allegiance to Oren, He was still a proud warrior. Oren had even waived the subservience. Oren wasn't that kind of person, and Harvey grew pretty friendly towards Oren after realizing a few things.
"She is!" Oren exclaimed clearly excited,
Esholyn couldn't help but let out a little laugh, "calm down Oren," She walked up to Him, grabbing His arm She said "come on Ill take you there," as She led Him down the Hall.
"Wait Oren," Johnny yelled out. "Me and Harve are gonna chill here till you come back. Can you have Emera do some training with Merc?"
"Yeah, He answered, "just send Merc Inside, Emera likes Her, Im sure She'll have no problem roughin' her up a bit."
Johnny just smiled then Issued an order to Merc and She ran into Emeras room barking loudly,
no doubt issuing a challenge. The two beasts were always sparring although, Emera has yet to lose Merc has been gaining actual battle experience.
Oren and Esholyn headed off to see the Queen.
They didn't go to the throne room however, They went directly to the Queens personal Quarters.
Normally, no one accept Esholyn could enter the Queens wing of the castle, but no one would question Orens position in the castle as far as they knew He was the adopted Prince.
They made it to a doorway, the door was open and there were no guards, obviously this meeting was predetermined. Esholyn walked Oren straight into the room, it was an epmty room, no decorations, no windows. The Queen was standing at a table, beside her was two men, Oren recognized both of them, one was Johnnys dad Gerald, a blonde haired, clean shaven man, who was also a light type beast warrior. The other was Harveys dad Samson, a black haired man with two swords, one on each hip, Oren knew from Harvey that those two swords were both lightning blades, exactly the same as the one Oren beat Harvey for in their duel. Harveys dad was also the top swordsman in the city.
"Oren welcome, Esholyn please close the door." The Queen welcomed Oren inside.
The two men standing beside her also greeted him.
"Oren," the Queen greeted him immediately, her voice was serious. "Oren, Esholyn informed me a few weeks ago that you were in inquiring about the earthstone and the skystone. I would like to know why?" The Queen looked at Oren with a fierceness that nearly made him shudder.
Oren had nothing to hide, he could only tell the truth.
Oren began to tell the Queen all about what Emera told him regarding the Dragons and the stones, even mentioning the Dark Dragons return to power. He even revealed that it was Emera who told him.
The Queen looked at Oren for a moment, the two men just stood off to the side, although their faces showed a little concern when Oren mentioned The Dragon returning.
"It is true Oren, everything is true." The Queen stated after Oren finished speaking, She then looked at Esholyn saying," Esholyn although you know a little about this you were to young to remember so I didn't tell you the whole truth. Please forgive me."
Esholyn didn't say a word, She just looked at her Mother anxiously.
"Oren," the Queen started, "indeed the Dragons did reign supreme at one point, and they caused terrible war. However, in the process they gave power and magic to humans and beasts, and we pass it down the generations. Although, most have weakened or diminished abilities, there are still some who are nearly as powerful and their ancestors."
The Queen looked from Oren, to Esholyn. "After the war, the most powerful humans built cities to keep humans safe from the war beasts that ran wild on the earth.
The leadership of these cities over time was passed down to the most powerful of the younger generation, after all normal humans don't live more than 300 to 500 years. Only those who train to reach certain levels, can extend their lives to 1000 years or even more, but nothing except True Dragons live eternally. We lived like this for centuries, with every city developing its own way to remain hidden."
The Queen paused once more looking at Oren, then she looked back at Esholyn, but when their eyes met the Queens expression became solemn and she continued, "Nearly 500 years ago, when the Darkness Dragon did come back, naturally, it wanted to spread its' influence, but it couldn't. Before the Dragons power had become fully restored, it was defeated by ten extreme experts, I was one of them along with the King, my Husband, and Esholyns father."
Oren was stunned at this information, and so was Esholyn. It was obvious that most of this was new to Her too. Esholyn had no memories of Her father, she only knew him as a traitor to the crown, as far as she knew he was dead.
"Although, We defeated him we couldn't kill him, we could only force him to to flee, and even then he vowed to take his revenge," As the Queen spoke her eyes started to well. "But Esholyn, 30 years ago, your father and a few others decided to hunt the Dragon and finish him off, but little did they know the Dragon had actually returned to full power, so when the warriors went looking for a dragon they found a man. The dragon now in human form was unmatchable, he slaughtered them all, but your father Esholyn was spared. He came back to the city with stories of victory, but I knew something was different about him, he had become ruthless, he had become tyrannical.
The Queen had actually began so sob but still spoke through her tears.
Esholyn however, was emotionless, She had no feelings for her father, she had always thought he died trying to assassinate Her mother.
"I ignored it for 20 years, then Esholyn, I became pregnant and birthed a son," when she said this her tears flowed heavily, but she continued, "but something was wrong with your father so I kept the child from him, then 12 years later I found out I was expecting another child. Soon after, while I was giving birth to you, one of the people that was loyal to your father gave out the boys secret location. By the time I had found out it was too late, when I reached the hidden place your father was there but his body was covered in darkness, he had become a minion of the Dark Dragon, and when I saw my son, your brother He too had been infected by whatever dark power had taken hold of your father."
The Queen paused for a minute looking downright destroyed, She wiped her tears then continued to speak. "Esholyn your father had gone mad, he wanted to sacrifice hundreds of souls to the Dark Dragon in turn for more power, starting with you. Esholyn, I was powerless to stop him.
The Queen paused looking at Esholyn, you could tell that she was terribly saddened, her face held great remorse. Esholyn only mouthed 3 words, "its okay mom."
Hearing this the Queen straightened up, the queen had always been ashamed of lying to Esholyn, but she had to be careful about what information went were, and Esholyn completely understood that, She harbored no bad feelings she knew what it took to be Queen.
The Queen forced a little smile thinking if Esholyn could be strong she could too, she then continued, "He defeated me and locked me away, a few days later a man came into my cell through a tunnel he had dug saying that He had found two stones and that with them I could defeat your father.
I accepted the stones, only to find out later the two stones were the Earthstone and the Skystone. With the stones power, I managed to break out of my cell, and defeat your father, however, Esholyn I was only able to save you.
Your father fled with your brother along with hundreds of minions he had created for his new master, but Esholyn you were cursed, he had infected you also, so for 5 years I tried to find a way to heal you. I eventually sought out a powerful see'er. She told me that Esholyn, and the Earthstone were connected saying that one day the owner of the Skystone will come to claim it, then together the two of them will defeat the Darkness Dragon with the flames of the Holyfire."
Esholyn didn't know any of this, she was cursed during her first five years of life, she didn't remember anything before being cured. As far as she new, she always had the earthstone, and she didn't know her scepter held the skystone until Oren said something and her mother confirmed it.
The Queen stopped speaking for a second, and looked at Oren, "you say the Skystone is to be weld by a beast?" She asked. Oren only nodded yes.
The Queen then continued, "when I made it back to the castle I immediately gave the Earthstone to Esholyn, but She swallowed it, seeing that I was terrified, immediately I went back to the see'er, and she told me Esholyn was fine, much to my surprise the very next day I returned, and she was completely cured, but, she now had the earthstone embedded in her forehead and her skin gave off that blue aura. Afterwards, when she started developing Her abilities, not only was her light magic capabilities on par with mine, of course she needs training, but due to the earthstone, she had limitless control over the earth and water essence. So when she got strong enough, I gave her the skystone, because, the See'er told me to keep the stones together until the owner of the skystone was found, she also gave me a piece of cloth that blocks the Esholyns glow if you cover the earsthstone. Warning Me that the Dark Dragon would be looking for these element stones."
The Queen looked at Oren her face regaining seriousness then spoke.
"Now Oren when I first saw you, I thought you might be a minion of the Dark Dragon, but I killed dozens of them, and none of them possessed ability like you. So although I don't know exactly what you are, you seem to be human enough, plus I'm positive you are not an enemy of the city, and if you were a Dark Minion, Esholyn wouldn't be able to physically touch you because the Earthstone would destroy you, so when she first grabbed your arm, I knew you were at least not a dark minion.
The Queen stopped again, then looking at the two men beside her she actually smiled saying,
"Still, Esholyn has done nothing but vow for you, and so after a few weeks of speaking with my council, especially after hearing that you didn't kill Harvey when he tried to kill you.
I made a decision to make you an offer, of course, if you refuse you can still stay here in the castle, or you can choose to leave, I won't force you." She looked at him as if awaiting a response.
Oren looked at the Queen with a fierce protectiveness saying, "I will stay and guard Esholyn with my life." Esholyn could only blush, she too liked Oren and wanted to also stand by Him. Oren had already made up his mind to protect Esholyn when Emera originally told him about the Dragon might be coming for the stones.
The Queen just smiled, "Okay."
Then. ...Poof... The Queen materialized three things on the table, they were armor and weapons.
There was a pair of pitch black gauntlets with silver gloves, sticking out of the elbow of each one was a long silver blade, next to them was a pair of small lightning daggers very similar two his lightning sword but significantly smaller, lastly there was a suit of light armor pitch black like the gauntlets with a fore head band to help protect from arrows, the boots of the suit seemed to be made of the same silver as the blades, and gloves of the gauntlets.
"Oren!" The queen spoke but Oren was staring at the lightning daggers. Whack...Esholyn slapped Oren on the back of the head. "Ouch.. Oh I'm sorry what was it?" Oren said with a slight bow as he snapped to his senses, everyone in the room slightly laughed at the sight.
"Ahem.." The Queen said playfully, then she gave a stern look while saying, "Oren these weapons were made for you, every warrior of high class will get weapons made personally, and since I have been keeping in contact with your combat teachers, I know you are most proficient with your fist and feet not to mention they say, even without your abilities you are learning fast, easily excelling to top three in every class. So I want you to takes these weapons, or you can refuse them, but these weapons are yours anyway. Oren looked at her suspiciously, "what do you mean."
The Queen smiling said, "they were created using Leos Hammer and Shield, the silver material is the warhammer, while the black material is that black iron shield, the shield was enchanted to be capable of blocking almost any attack, but Oren the Hammer was actually made of 80% draconite!
Which is actually the fangs and scales of Dragons! It had some other things mixed in, So Me and Gerald used some hidden magic techniques to reform the material. You should know, draconite is nearly indestructible, and only capable of being made if the Dragon who gave the part was alive, while still possessing full strength when it was given. Which means, that Leo most likely was working for the Darkness Dragon, but instead of The Dark Dragon transforming Leo, he gave him that weapon. Maybe because he heard the city was near here, or on the other hand, sometimes raiders or bandits find ancient draconite weapons inside tombs of legendary warriors. She paused then insisted, "In either case it doesn't matter now, Oren take them, the gauntlets and the armor are yours. However...."
She then looked at Harveys father, saying "okay Samson,"
Harveys dad looked right at Oren, He gave sincere smile then said, "Oren, I have personally made these lightning daggers for you, I would like for you to give Harvey back his sword, although you won the duel fairly, even after Harvey had threatened your life, but please Oren I personally made him that sword. It has sentimental value in our family, besides Harvey says that you are no good with swordplay, and actually suggested these Lightning daggers which are capable of enhancing you just like the sword." He paused, then said "please consider."
Oren immediately answered, "yea sure here take it back to him," he then took the sheathed lightning sword off his back, and handed it over, he didn't really care for the sword anymore, but he was loving those daggers. Oren was truly terrible at swordplay. Harveys dad looked truly grateful, he had no hard feelings towards Oren.
"Okay now that that's settled," the Queen spoke again, her voice slightly humorous, then materialized something in her palm. Handing it over to Oren she said.
"Oren here are 3 storage rings, 1 for your weapons and armor, 1 for your monetary assets and, 1 for your clothes storage, the one for clothing actually has armor for Emera inside of it. It's also made of the material the shield was. It is also enchanted so it will always fit her.
As of today Oren you are a permanent resident in the castle, you shall remain as the Prince,
I shall treat you as My adopted son," The Queen sobbed a little then regained herself as she spoke, "although Oren we must stay ready, and always remain focused. Esholyn may have the stones but the Skystone still doesn't have an owner, and She is far from mastery of the Earthstone. Until the day we meet the Skystone owner we need to be careful, but continue training. We Elites shall handle the threats for now, you children focus on training to get stronger and having fun.
Now go back to whatever it is you kids do." As she was saying this she walked around the table to hug Esholyn and said, "from now on Esholyn, I will tell you nothing but the truth."

Oren immediately answered, "yea sure here take it back to him," he then took the sheathed lightning sword off his back, and handed it over, he didn't really care for the sword anymore, but he was loving those daggers. Oren was truly terrible at swordplay. Harveys dad looked truly grateful, he had no hard feelings towards Oren.

"Oren here are 3 storage rings, 1 for your weapons and armor, 1 for your monetary assets and, 1 for your clothes storage, the one for clothing actually has armor for Emera inside of it. It's also made of the material the shield was. It is also enchanted so it will always fit her.
