4 Chapter 4- Drive Safely

Though the office is just a 30-minute drive from their place, Xiaxia would always want to arrive 30 minutes prior to the office hours. So technically she always leave an hour before office hours.

Today is still as windy as the other days. The house is as peaceful as ever. It's just a small house with a little courtyard since this is just a place to rest for Xiaxia. She just have one maid at the moment because she prefers silence after work. The other maids are at the mansion at the suburbs. The butler asked for a month leave so he's not around for a week alreafy. Afterall, Xuanyao would come and stay from time to time to keep her company and that's enough. But today, the atmosphere in the car is bit odd.

Xiaxia glanced at the beauty beside her. The contours of that face, her sunkissed skin and those deep blue eyes. She was mesmerized by the view but somehow, she still can't shake off the tons of questions buggling her.

At the other hand, she could tell that Xuanyao isn't in the best mood today. She happened to catch a glimpse of Xuanyao's fingers that are currently driving the wheels.

Usually, Xuanyao would nag at her not to skip meals and remind her to wait at the nearby cafè at the office after working hours, though she can just go home anytime she likes, afterall, it's HER clinic.

Those fingers can't be still and keeps on tapping the wheel lightly.

Not so her. Hmmm.

Xuanyao keeps on looking side to side even if there are still very few cars on the road with them and to think that this is an expressway. She keeps on whistling and will just give an awkward laugh at Xiaxia once in a while if their eyes happen to meet.

"Why are you so anxious?" Xiaxia said while looking questionably at Xuanyao.

"Anxious? No, I'm not" Xuanyao answered.

"Don't lie. I'm not blind"

But Xuanyao can't even look her in the eyes. What's with her?

"C'mon honey, tell me. Do you have a report or delibiration that's why you're nervous? Don't be shy"

SIGH

Xuanyao just glanced at her and sighed for the 36th time today.

"Don't mind me. Just be a good girl at work and I'll pick you up later, alright?"

"Hoooowkaaayyy" and Xiaxia just brushed it off and smiled.

"Good. I may be going home after sending you back later. I have some things I need to finish"

"Well yeah me as well, there are cases that needs further diagnosis. Might as well, let's not disturb each other for the mean time"

I need to figure out something. My guts tell me so. I'm praying that it's actually not what I'm thinking.

Xuanyao, I trust you.

But if you are...sigh

They didn't take too long to reach the clinic.

"I gotta go. I'll be late." Xuanyao said plainly.

"Drive safely loves! I love you!" then Xiaxia planted a kiss on Xuanyao's cheeck.

"En." Then Xuanyao started the engine and drove away.

En? EN?! THAT'S IT?

An ominous feeling rose from Xiaxia's heart.

Xuanyao, drive safely. I hope you know where you're heading at.
