C193 Only a dead man can keep a secret

Jiang Ting hurriedly retracted his hand, and Mistress Yun also finally returned to her senses as she cried out Mian Niang's name.

Mian Niang looked at Jiang Ting, and quietly asked: "What are you planning to do?"

"Murder to silence us."

The man's voice was as cold and emotionless as his sword. He was clearly talking about life and death, but his words were as ordinary as if he was talking about the weather.

She didn't even care when the blood on her hands dripped onto her clothes. She told Jiang Ting, "Mistress Cloud won't say anything, she won't say anything. I promise."

"Only the dead can keep secrets!"

Jiang Ting seemed to not be moved at all, and the sword he withdrew did not return to its sheath. The gaze he used to look at Mistress Yun was no different from the one he used to look at Mei Tiangui.

Mian Niang was startled, she turned around and looked at Mistress Yun. The young female mother had never seen a scene like this before, her face was currently pale white. Her eyes were filled with deep fear, and her gaze towards Mian Niang was imploring.

"She won't tell." Mian Niang turned her head around. Facing Jiang Ting, she had never been this tough in front of him before: "Don't touch her!"

Jiang Ting seemed to be extremely disdained by such an argument, and only coldly repeated: "Only a dead person can keep a secret!"

Mian Niang did not retreat at all, her gaze firm and persistent.

Jiang Ting, however, only looked at Mistress Yun who was hiding behind her, and raised the sword in his hand once again.

"Mr. Jiang!" Mian Niang shouted.

After the two sides remained in a deadlock for a moment, Jiang Ting finally spoke:

"Fine, I won't kill her today. However, if I find out that everything she said she heard spread out from her mouth one day, then don't blame me for not showing any mercy at that time."

The treasured sword returned to its scabbard, releasing a clear sound. Mian Niang heaved a sigh of relief as she muttered her thanks.

"If she really can't accept the secret, then it's mine who deserves it. No one can blame her for her loss."

She faced Jiang Ting's gaze with a magnanimous expression, not the slightest bit afraid.

"Whatever!"

Jiang Ting's voice became even colder, and his tone seemed to carry a sense of disappointment. As he walked past her, their gazes met, and Jiang Ting was completely calm.

Mian Niang listened to the footsteps getting further and further away, and gently exhaled.

He pushed Mistress Cloud away from his embrace and was about to wipe her tears away when a small bottle fell from the sky and landed in her arms.

"Let's do it every once in a while. Don't forget to apply the medicine."

She subconsciously grabbed the bottle and turned around to see that the man was already far away.

Since he was here to take care of this matter, after taking care of it, he would naturally return to the city and head to the capital.

Mian Niang looked at the pill in her hand, her emotions in a mess.

He had saved her once more, and owed him another debt. But he wanted to kill Mistress Cloud. This caused her to subconsciously keep her distance, and this was the first time she had a new understanding of how he killed someone.

They were people from two different worlds, so perhaps my mother was right. They should have kept their distance from each other to begin with and not keep in constant contact.

She turned her head to look at Mistress Cloud, but Mistress Cloud was staring blankly at her bleeding palm, not knowing what to think.

Mian Niang attempted to pull her hand, but she acted as if she was scared and quickly shook him off. She even backed off a little and directly sat in the back of the carriage.

Mian Niang sighed to herself. She did not say that she wanted to draw a line between her and Jiang Ting yet Mistress Yun had already done so.

From now on, the two of them would no longer be as intimate as they were before.

Thinking of this, Mian Niang felt a wave of sadness.

She took out a handkerchief and wiped the blood on her hands clean, then sprinkled the medicinal noodles on top of it. No one knew what kind of medicine Jiang Ting had given her, but the medicinal effects were intense, Mian Niang only felt a burning pain from her wound, the pain caused her to perspire cold sweat all over her head. However, the hemostasis effect of the medicine was good.

After tying them up, Mian Niang picked up the whip and drove the donkey cart back home.

Mistress Cloud only watched the entire process without saying a word.

Along the way, the two of them did not have any further interactions. The excitement that they had for having a business was all swept away in an instant.

Actually, she had already realized that these things would happen sooner or later since she started to come into contact with Gu Xin. Mother knew, that she was already satisfied that she could hide it for such a long time, so she didn't blame Jiang Ting for being cold-blooded.

Jiang Ting was not cold-blooded, just like the hidden meaning behind his words. He did not randomly kill innocent people, and the fact that he took action to kill others, was entirely for a reason.

There was a reason? Innocent lives?

Mian Niang thought about something, looked at her palm, and then subconsciously turned her head. Jiang Ting's figure could no longer be seen, but she seemed to have figured it out.

Her gaze landed on Mistress Yun. The young female mother lowered his neck and did not utter a single word.

Mian Niang's gaze once again returned to her rough, bandaged palm

With Jiang Ting's agility, even after he blocked the attack himself, his palm actually did not get pierced, unless Jiang Ting did not intend to kill him.

If they didn't want to kill him, then why did they do so?

Mian Niang could not understand.

The was right in front of them.

Jiang Ting, who should have left originally, stood on the mountain for a good while as he watched Mian Niang drive her donkey cart into the village.

He did not know what exactly it was that he had planned, but even though he had clearly taken care of those few people, and confirmed that Mian Niang and Yue Shan were no longer in danger, he still followed her along the way. Watching her enter the village, his heart did not let go, and he did not know if that little sister of hers would keep the secret, or if the entire world of the female mother would fall over overnight.

He didn't know what was going on, but after thinking about it for a while, he could only blame it all on his long-term plans. Since he had decided to take responsibility, then naturally, he would have to bear two completely different responsibilities compared to his previous guilt.

He still had other tasks and responsibilities to carry out.

He took one last look at the village and decided to quickly return. As long as it was a few days, even if something really did happen to Mian Niang here, he should be able to make it back in time.

He turned around and walked back. The man was lucky to have made it back. It only took him a moment to travel a long distance.

Mian Niang parked her donkey cart outside his house.

Mistress Cloud did not say a word and just took the things she bought from the car.

Mian Niang stepped forward and opened her mouth several times.

Mistress Cloud looked at her, expecting her to give an explanation.

Unexpectedly, Mian Niang said: "Mr. Jiang is not a bad person, don't hate him."

Even though she was determined to draw a clear line between herself and that man, she couldn't help but defend him, fearing that others would misunderstand her.

Mistress Cloud lowered her eyes and said with faint ridicule, "I don't dare."

Mian Niang felt that she should say something, and everything was wrong. With this hesitation, Mistress Yun had already left her house and returned to her own.

Separated by a wall, Mian Niang could hear A Yunniang's intimate voice asking if his daughter was cold or not.

Mian Niang glanced at the tightly shut door and her heart dimmed.

If those things were to be spread out, she might not stay in this family for long.

Mian Niang felt extremely cold. She hunched her shoulders and hugged her chest, trying to try and warm her heart, but when her arm touched the medicine bottle in her saddlebag, she took it out.

He didn't know what material this bottle was made of, but it didn't look like it was made of porcelain. The bottle was a dark brown color and glowed faintly under the sunlight.

That time when they came back from the Orchid Flower Lane, the doctors already determined that she was dead, but she survived. Her little brother told her that the Mr. Jiang had fed her medicine before, but she didn't know if it was as precious as the medicine.

Medicine that could bring the dead back to life should be even more precious.

Mian Niang's gaze landed on her own palm. Thinking of Jiang Ting, thinking of his sharp sword, thinking of his expressionless face, thinking of what he had said to her when he threw the bottle away, his heart that was enveloped in the cold wind seemed to be slowly wrapped in a soft layer of cloth, bringing a sense of warmth.

Mrs. Song and Li were separated by a layer of frosted window, so they could only see a blurry figure in the courtyard, and couldn't clearly see what she was doing.

Seeing that she had been standing there without coming in, she couldn't help but feel angry. She used her walking stick to knock on the window.

Mian Niang who was deep in thought came to her senses, and immediately put the medicine bottle in her backpack, sending it to her own room, then taking off the donkey cart. She tied the donkey up, and then took the pen and paper she bought for Song Zhien to enter Song Li's house.

The two mother and daughter did not speak any superfluous words. Mian Niang did not even mention everything that happened in the city today, nor did she say anything about Peach Blossom House wanting to customize the tofu.

After he finished, Mian Niang touched the brick bed and went out.

He first went to the kitchen to heat up the kang, then came out from the kitchen to get some water and beans, then fed the donkey to the chickens for dinner.

Life seems to be like this, looking calm beneath the surface is a dangerous undercurrent.

Separated by a wall, she no longer heard Mistress Cloud's voice. Worried that she would be frightened by what had happened today and not know how to comfort her, she could only let out a long sigh.

She hated sighing because it was only when something bad happened that she would sigh again. From the time her mother broke her leg to the time her mother told her that she was going to use her to change Brother's marriage, to the time after their marriage, to Brother's accident, to Father's accident, she would always hear this kind of sigh or that kind of sigh.

Even she herself couldn't help but sigh.

This was a type of helpless catharsis.

She didn't want to be in such a negative position. She didn't want to just sigh.

The wound on Mian Niang's hand was something that Song Zhien had only seen after he returned. The youth was pulling on her sister's sleeve in the courtyard, and asked her what was going on, why was she injured, and why she had to pull away the kernels to see what was happening.

In the room, Madame Song and Madame Li stood in front of the windows and blew out a breath of hot air, melting a small patch of ice. The opaque window paper could only see the figures of the siblings.

"It's fine. When I was poking the firewood, I pierced a big wooden thorn and pulled it out."

Mian Niang's lie had become more and more thorough, to the point where Song Zhien looked at her with half-belief and half-doubt.

In order to dispel her brother's suspicions, she had no choice but to change the topic. "I bought you a pen and paper today. Go and have a look. Is it the kind your husband asked me to buy?"

"Paper and pen? Sis A, I want to tell you a secret. "

The boy lowered his voice and said to his sister, "The things that Mr. Jiang gave me before and those that Mother threw out were picked up again and placed in the academy. I have been using them continuously, it's more than enough to use after New Year."
