21 Side Story : Aurum's Despair

When Aurum heard what his uncle had said, he immediately went on his knees and begged for him not to tell his parents, Vyvyan and Lior, "Uncle, please don't tell them...! Those kids would always bully me whenever I go out and play. Surely, you understand what this is about..."

His uncle just smiled at him and turned his back. When Aurum looked at him, he saw that his uncle looked like as if he has remembered many memories from when he was young.

"Hais... Aurum, don't mistake martial arts from street fighting. Martial arts is all about your technique and style but in street fights, you don't need those kind of things as long as you got your fighting spirit. People these days don't even understand that simple thing." he sighed while shaking his head.

"Uncle Sirius, did you involve yourself in lot of fights back then?" Aurum asked full of curiosity.

"Boy, the thing that you are doing right now is not even enough to reach me when I was in your age." he replied smugly.

Aurum was surprised when he heard what his uncle told him. Based on what he said, he was more aggressive than Aurum in his younger years.

"Uncle Sirius, can you please tell me some of your stories... you never told me a single thing about you."

"Well... I don't think that you should hear about it, but since you insist, I'll tell you. Just don't say a word to Vyvyan and Lior, aight?" Sirius told him with a mischievous smile on his face.

Aurum didn't hesitate and just nodded at his question.

"Hmmm.... listen closely. When I was your age, I was already beating up guys who would act arrogantly in front of me. Nobody would even dare to try and get in my way whenever I pass by them. If you want for people not to bully you, then you should get stronger. No matter who it is or how many they are in a fight, I would never back down until all of them lay on the floor. As long as I still got some spirit, nobody can defeat me here in our town in my time." he said proudly.

"You might think that I'm ruthless or merciless but one day, you would know that sometimes, violence is the answer to a problem." he added.

Aurum, who heard what he said, was looking at Sirius like he was an idol. Aurum thought that what his uncle said makes sense. He tried to be nice to other people but in the end, he was despised by others.

Sirius told Aurum to go eat dinner and do all the things he needed to do before going to sleep. Aurum obediently followed what his uncle told him because his mother and father said not to make things hard for his uncle.

The next day, he woke up with a good start and was excited when school started. He immediately got ready and ate breakfast. After that, he went to school by himself. When he was on his way, he saw Sarah waiting for him. When she saw him walking towards her, Sarah beamed and approached Aurum.

"Hey, show me around the school later, alright? I am a new student, so you should take me around the school so I can familiarize which place is which."

Aurum nodded his head while being flustered. Sarah, who saw Aurum's reaction, couldn't help but tease him more.

"Hey, Aurum. You know you're so cute that I would want you for myself, hee hee~" she said while beaming at him.

"Ah! Um... t-thank you..." Aurum couldn't even think of a way to reply to her normally when he heard what she said.

Just when Sarah was about to tease him more, they saw about ten kids standing in front of them, looking at them furiously.

"You b*tch! Now you are going to regret what you did to us before! You should have come with us when we invited you instead of accompanying that piece of sh*t!" one of them said.

When Aurum and Sarah heard that, they turned their gaze towards where they heard the voice. Immediately after that, they saw four kids who beat up yesterday so hard that they couldn't even stand properly.

Aurum and Sarah involuntarily stepped back as they saw that they were here to get their revenge. On the other hand, the other kids immediately became much more aggressive when they saw their reaction. They immediately went and ganged up on both of them. Aurum and Sarah were defenseless, they couldn't handle that many people at the same time. So they just focused on trying to put up as much defense as they could. However, Aurum and Sarah, was still beaten down by them. Aurum got so much bruise on his body while Sarah only got some light scratches.

When they got inside school, they immediately went to the infirmary to get some rest. The nurse asked them who did this and they didn't hesitate to tell her. They thought that if they did, those kids won't ever come near them again as they would get reprimanded by the school.

However, they were really naive for thinking like that. Those kids still bullied them every single day they come to school. Sometimes, when they're going to see them on their way home, they would even get beaten up again. This kept happening for a week and they were both really tired of being bullied. Aurum wanted to tell his parents right away, but they still haven't come home yet.

One day, Aurum saw Sarah looking so depressed. He went to approach him but when he did, she immediately went away. When he tried talking to her, all she said was, "I need some space." During the second week of school, Aurum couldn't see any sign of Sarah being at the neighborhood. When he went to her house and asked where she was right now, all he got was that she moved back to her hometown. The person who he talked to also handed him a letter, which he opened right when he got back home.

When he opened the letter, all it said was, "I'm sorry... it was fun hanging out with you, but I can't handle this kind of bullying anymore... I'll visit you one day, but you must be stronger than everybody else when that time comes."

He felt sadness rising up in his heart when he read what Sarah wrote in the letter. He blamed himself for the fact that he dragged her into the mess that he made. His heart would ache at the thought of her leaving because of him.

When he was about to cry, Sirius went inside his room without any warning and saw him with bloodshot eyes. When Sirius saw Aurum, he suddenly felt pity for him and was about to say something.

"Uncle Sirius, why are you here?" Aurum asked while his head was hanging.

"Aurum.... I need you build up your heart and your resolve for what I'm about to say." Sirius said seriously.

Aurum looked at Sirius' eyes directly and had a premonition that what he's about to say is something bad.

"The thing is Aurum... y-your p-parents got into an a-accident, and they didn't make it..." Sirius said while stuttering.

He knew that Aurum was already feeling down when he went into the room, but still decided to tell him otherwise. He thought that if he delayed this news to him, Aurum would hate him till the rest of his life.

Aurum, who was already sad, was overcame with a sense of hopelessness. He was waiting for his parents to come home so that he could tell them what is happening to him right now. However, his parents were dead and Sarah even left. He tried to cry but there were no tears coming out of his eyes.

Sirius was about to comfort Aurum, but he saw that the look that he was giving off right now was so cold. It seemed like he can't feel any emotion at the moment. He shook his head and left him while saying, "You need to find a way to release that fury that you have, or it will break you one day."

The next day, the same old thing happened again. He was being ganged up by ten kids again and was beaten up. However, this time Aurum didn't even bother defending himself. Instead, he went all out on attacking them and putting down as many kids as he can. When he did this, four of them were knocked out which made the other six infuriated. They continued to beat him up, not even bothering hitting his face, until he lost consciousness.

Later on, when he woke up, he didn't go directly to school but instead, went back home. When Sirius saw his face, he was about to go to the houses of those kids and beat the sh*t out of their parents but surprisingly, Aurum stopped him.

"Uncle Sirius, let me handle it. Just give me something and I'll make them wish they never messed with me." Aurum said coldly.

Sirius, who heard what Aurum said, was left stunned. He already knew that he was being bullied since the past weeks, but didn't do anything as Aurum didn't say anything. However, now Aurum was finally going to retaliate against them and give them a taste of their own medicine. Sirius went to his own room and got himself a metal bat. He gave it to Aurum skeptically.

"Just don't overdo it, okay?" he reminded him.

Aurum didn't say anything back to him and just went out. He waited 'till the school was over and everybody would go home. When he saw those ten kids, he was glaring at them like he was cursing their souls till he's dead. Naturally, they noticed that Aurum was looking at their direction.

"Hey, hey! Look at that sh*t. He's glaring at us"

"Oooh~ I'm so scared that I want to go home!"

"Should we go and play with him again?"

All of them were mocking him and was looking down at Aurum. They didn't think that he could even defeat all of them. They boldly went towards him and was about to 'play' with him. However, the kid who was at the very front was smacked down in an instant. Blood was flowing out of his head and it looked like he was not going to wake up anytime sooner.

"Play with me? Let's see if you can afford to play with me now!"

After saying that, he swung his metal bat without thinking about what was going to happen next. All he could think about was beating them up until they suffered enough. He targeted their legs in order to prevent them from running away. All of the kids that were bullying him immediately regretted their decision.

"Aurum, have mercy on me!"

"Please let me go!"

"I will not bother you again, I promise!"

All of them were begging Aurum as they saw him walking towards them slowly. He stopped in front of them and just stared at them.

After awhile he opened his mouth while saying, "Two weeks... I'll make your lives miserable right now until two weeks. So miserable you wouldn't even dare to come out and play."

After saying that, he immediately swung his bat towards their body, hands, and wherever he could hit except for the head. He was slowly enjoying the way how he was beating them up.

"Sometimes, violence is the answer to a problem... you really were right, uncle." Aurum thought.

After they all were knocked out with bruises all over their body, Aurum finally felt satisfied and left them alone. The other people who saw what Aurum did became terrified. They once saw him as a piece of sh*t, a p*ssy, trash or whatever negative things they could think of. However, what they saw earlier changed their minds completely.

"This guy is not a weakling like he used to before... how vicious and ruthless could he be..." all of them thought.
