16 Paying Annabelle a visi

Rose and Emma met up with Elisa's parents during their visit and after they had done a lot of catching up, Elisa's parents left not forgetting to remind her of her promise to make Annabelle on their side.

The three girls, Elisa, Rose, and Emma were in a cafe drinking coffee and chatting amongst each other when Elisa suddenly stirred the conversation towards Annabelle.

"Girls, do you know why I love this coffee?" Emma asked. Rose and Elisa both shook their heads before finally asking her "Why do you like it?" "Hmm, actually I have no idea, I thought you guys knew that is why I asked," Emma said slyly.

"Garrh, I will be sure to bash you on the head after examining what exactly is wrong with it, I wonder sometimes how you do better than the both of us during our exams with this bird brain of yours" Rose looked at Emma scornfully.

Although Emma is not exactly bright when it comes to social communication skills, she is still better than the two in terms of academics and it only improved further after Annabelle joined their group.

"Don't tell me you have been hanging out with Annabelle for the past few weeks now?" Elisa asked looking at Emma to see if there will be any change in her reaction. "Why are you asking me that, we have been together almost every day since Rose's birthday. How am I supposed to hang out with her" Emma shrugged

"That reminds me have any of you heard from her since my birthday?" Rose asked. "NO" came the reply from both Emma and Elisa. "That is weird, don't you both think so. Annabelle would have called us or perhaps me if she was busy but she just went under the radar" Rose continued with a frown on her face as she contemplated on the matter.

"Maybe she is still mad at us for supporting Elisa and not her during their argument," Emma said sipping her coffee gracefully like a dignified lady. At this Rose facepalmed, she was now sure that Emma really needed her head checked.

"I don't remember you two supporting me that day," Elisa said eyeing both Rose and Emma. Clearly, she was still mad at her two best friends, they had chosen to support an outsider that day instead of her.

"Well, she did try to warn you, didn't she? Look let us just forget about the issue and I will give her a call" Rose said as she searched her purse for her phone. "WAIT!!!" Elisa shouted startling both Rose and Emma. The startled Emma splashed herself with the hot coffee in her cup.

"Ouch, that is painful. Why did you scream that way? How annoying" Emma said with tears in her eyes. "Sorry, I did not mean to scare you," Elisa said apologetically. Even though she was apologizing there was no guilt seen on her face. Instead, she was smirking at Emma's misfortune. 'That will teach her' she thought.

Neither Rose nor Emma noticed this though as Rose was helping Emma dab her clothes with wet tissues. "Okay, E. why the hell did you shout? That was so unladylike" Rose glared at Elisa when she was done helping Emma out.

"I thought it would be better if instead, we go to her apartment. It would be a nice surprise for her and I can also apologize since you both think it is because of me she is refusing to hang out with us" Elisa said like she was truly repentant.

"Well, since that is a very good idea, we should do that instead. I bet she will be so surprised to see us" Rose squealed. "Hmm, since you both think it is a good idea, how about you two take turns driving" Emma snapped at them angrily

"Hey, come on don't be mad at Elisa again, she just didn't want to spoil the surprise, that was why she shouted" Rose tried to calm Emma down who was still clearly mad at Elisa for screaming earlier and making her pour her coffee on herself. "So just a simple tap was not enough" Emma humphed.

"Fine, I will drive. I already said I was sorry" Elisa snatched her car keys and stood up angrily. Seeing this Rose and Emma also stood up and chased after Elisa who was almost at the cafe door.

The entire drive to Annabelle's apartment was tense and awkward because of the heated argument that ensued in the cafe between Elisa and Emma. Finally, they arrived in front of Annabelle's building.

They did not bother to greet the man they met at the reception and immediately went up to Annabelle's apartment. Once they got there Rose rang the doorbell but after ringing it for three consecutive times, they resorted in knocking on the door.

Elisa was getting slightly annoyed but did not let it show to her friends. Suddenly a light bulb was lit in Rose's brain, looking at her friends she said excitedly. "How about one of us use the spare key she gave us to open the door?"

"What spare key?" Emma asked confusedly. "The same keys she gave to the three of us in case we ever came to her apartment without informing her, like today of course" Rose replied rolling her eyes at the two.

At this Elisa stretched her hand to Rose. The latter was slightly confused and looked at the former questioningly. "Hand over the keys, dummy," Elisa said exasperatedly. "Well I don't have the key with me, I left it in my car. I did not think we were going to use it" Rose said innocently.

"So how am I supposed to open the door without the key then. Oh oh how about I break it" Elisa shouted angrily. To think she had wasted her time in coming and even the ungrateful brat was not opening her door.

"Wait, why exactly are you mad at me. She gave each of us a spare key did she not? Instead of standing there and pushing the blame on others why don't you bring yours out" This time even Rose was incensed and therefore she snapped at Elisa.

"I don't have the key with me, if that is what you are saying" Elisa replied, turning to Emma she continued "What about you Em?" there was a bit of hope on Rose and Elisa's faces as they looked at Emma like she was their savior. However, they were disappointed when Emma spoke.

"Why are you two looking at me?" Emma asked after raising her head up to see Elisa and Rose staring at her intently. "Do you have the key with you or not?" Rose asked resignedly

"What key?" Emma asked a bit confused. She had zoned out earlier since she asked about the spare key. Moreover, she was playing on her phone when she felt someone was gazing at her. Looking up she saw her best friends looking at her.

"Annabelle's key of course. What other key have we been talking about since earlier?" Elisa snapped. 'Whatever it is that was wrong with the world started from people like Emma', she thought to herself with a sneer.

"I left the key at my place, when we came out this morning you only said to go for coffee. So how am I supposed to know we would need Anna's key?" Emma asked irritatedly.
