"When will you adopt me?"

Liu Yang was casually sipping on her cup when she heard him say it. She spat the coffee out of her mouth and with trembled hands, the cup fell on the carpeted floor while scalding her left hand.

"Ah!" she winced.

"Hey," Guan put the cat down and immediately turn to her side. He gently held the scalded hand and saw how red it was from thumb to her wrist.

Kneeling with one leg, he peered up at her small, frowning face – clearly in pain – and could not help but laugh.

"Why are you laughing?" Liu Yang scornfully looked at him and snatched her hand away.

"Do you have a medicine kit?" he asked; his lips still curving into a beautiful smile.

Liu Yang's eyes were red. Her hand really is stinging with pain. She sniffed and murmured, "It's on the cupboard."

Guan gracefully sauntered to the kitchen and came back with the medicine kit in hand. He skillfully applied the ointment on the inflamed part of her hand; even blowing it occasionally before putting gauze over it.

After applying first aid, Liu Yang gave him a silent "Thank you" as a sign of gratitude. He returned to the seat across and could not help but laugh once again.

He said, "Were you that excited that you even dropped your cup of scalding coffee?" he even reached for his cup and gave it a sip; testing how hot it was. Truly, it's very hot. No wonder she's almost on the verge of crying moments ago.

Liu Yang pouted. "Why would I even get excited? Who do you think you are?" her emotions got riled up by what he said earlier. This man infuriates her so much.

She rose from her seat and went to the kitchen with the fallen cup.

Guan followed her while saying, "I'm your boyfriend. We haven't seen each other for over a month and that's what you're going to say to me? Sweetie, I'm kinda hurt," his tone is playful.

"Hey, your hand can't touch water," he added when he saw she was about to open the faucet.

Liu Yang paused and turned to face him. She leaned on the sink with her arms crossed over her chest, giving him an imposing look.

"And so? Will you please stop insisting that we have this 'girlfriend-boyfriend' genuine relationship? What we have is just an agreement. We cool with that?"

Guan sighed and waved his hand. "Yeah, sure. We cool," he said in English.

"What are you doing here invading my privacy?"

He laughed at her words. "I need a favor," his face turned serious.

"What is it?"

"I need you to come with me. Mother told me to bring you to have lunch at the old house and introduce you to them."

"What?! No! Absolutely no!"

"Why not?"

"Why do I have to go?"

Guan rolled his eyes. Where did her logic go? "Because you are my girlfriend."

"No way!" Liu Yang insisted.

He felt helpless arguing with her over this. "No matter how much you reject her, she is going to invite you a hundred times over until you come. So, we don't have much choice but to go over there and put an act. It's just lunch?" he helplessly begged.

"Argh! Fine!" she finally resigned.

"Yes!"

Liu Yang glared at him. As she walked past him, he reminded her about the burn on her hand. "Remember about your hand."

"Whatever."

He just chuckled as the door to her room closed. Guan wanted to squeeze her cheeks so hard and tell her how cute she is, especially when frowning. Right now, arguing with her, though it's a little tiring, is one of the best moments with her.

After 45 minutes, Liu Yang emerged out of her room fully-dressed, with her long, black hair falling behind. Guan sized her up from head to toe.

"What are you wearing?" he pointed at her clothes with an unfathomable look.

"Uh, clothes? What's wrong with it?" she also peered at herself, feeling puzzled of what was wrong.

Guan thought about it and declared, "Come on, let's go."

Liu Yang followed him to the door and whispered, "What' wrong with my clothes?"

Today, she's wearing blue jeans and a peach-colored V-necked shirt.

By the door, Liu Yang is putting on her white sneakers. Guan could not help but thought: 'This woman's clothing style is so basic.'

The two of them went out of the building at exactly ten in the morning. Since it is too early to go over the Niu mansion. He decided to stop by a mall.

Wondering, Liu Yang asked, "What are we doing here?"

"To fix your fashion." He stepped out of the car and went to her side to open the door for her. He held out a hand and demanded, "Come on."

She accepted the hand in front of her and let him drag her unwilling body. Guan brought her inside a luxury brand of women's clothes.

"Give her some dresses to try," he commanded in a domineering tone.

She pursed her lips and glanced at him. He seemed so serious. Is he mad?

"Miss, this way, please," a sales staff ushered her towards the fitting room. She gave Liu Yang several dresses for her to try on.

Later on, 10 dresses with various colors and designs were bought by him. Liu Yang wanted to stop him but every time she does, he would give her a meaningful stare.

"Here, wear this one."

He handed her a white dress that looked simple and elegant.
