105 TO HAVE SOME FUN
After their dinner, Guan told Liu Yang to wait for him while he fetched the car. It's only 7 in the evening but the blowing wind seemed to bite on her skin, making her shiver. As the car arrived, she immediately slid herself in and buckle up.
"Wanna go for a drive?" Guan asked while starting the car.
Liu Yang thought about it. Since she is not that busy anymore, she agreed happily. "Sure."
He stepped on the accelerator with a meaningful smile on his face.
It's still early in the evening, therefore, traffic jam is still visible on the main road. Liu Yang felt bored about it and subconsciously scratched her not so itchy head in annoyance.
"Is the stereo Bluetooth activated?" she asked all of a sudden as the car stopped on a red light.
Guan glanced at her and saw her bored look. "Yeah. Why?"
Without answering him, she unbuckled the safety belt, bent her body, and busied herself with tuning the stereo on while he was just watching on the side, amused. The car started to move and a piece of foreign music filled the car.
Guan listened to the lyrics and noticed it's a heartbreak song, though the tune is kind of upbeat. His brows raised and secretly glanced at her who is swaying her head together with the tune. Her cherry-colored lips silently moved, reciting the lyrics perfectly; he got distracted just by looking at it so, he tightened his grip on the wheel to remind himself that he is driving and took a deep breath.
"What if I'm trying, but then I close my eyes and then I'm right back
Lost in that last goodbye, what if time doesn't do what it's supposed to do?
What if I never get over you?
Ooh yeah
What if I never get over?
What if I never get closure?
What if I never get back all the wasted words I told you?
What if it never gets better?
What if this lasts forever and ever and ever, I'm trying"
He laughed as he listened to the song intently. For someone who is single all her life, how come she is listening to a song meant for broken-hearted people?
Liu Yang was so immersed in her own world and forgot the man beside her. As the first song ended, Guan reached for the volume and turned it down a little. She noticed it and frowned at him.
"You love music that much?"
"Probably. Every time I listen to my favorite songs, I feel at ease and at peace."
"So, basically, you like books and music? And food?"
She giggled when he mentioned food. Well, that is entirely true but…
"So, you are a nerd?" he teased.
"What?" Liu Yang thought being called a 'nerd' is a huge blow to her reputation but she does love those things whenever she's alone.
"You can call me that. And what about it? Are you regretting yourself for having a nerd girlfriend?"
"Oho! You admitted that you are my girlfriend now. I'm…pleased!" he grinned.
Liu Yang's face turned red and shifted on her seat to face the view outside and did not bicker with him any further. She noticed that they were off the national road.
"Where are we going, anyway?" she asked with her innocent face.
Guan smirked. "To have some fun." He stepped on the gas and the car swerved into a faster motion than normal.
Liu Yang felt her soul left her body as of the moment. All she could do was close her eyes and hold on to the car handle. It took a while before the car halted and heard Guan's voice next to her.
"We are here."
She let out a breath of relief and hesitantly opened her terrified eyes.
"Are you okay?"
Guan shook her shoulder a little seeing her frightened look. Liu Yang glared at him and slapped his shoulder, hard.
"Why did you do that?!" she roared.
Though he was hurt by her slap, instead of crying out of pain, he let out a burst hysterical laughter. Her anger flared up seeing him laugh.
"Were you that scared?" he clutched his stomach while laughing.
"Why didn't you gave a heads up?!"
Guan's laughter became louder as he listened to her. "You're cute!" he pinched her cheeks.
She flicked his hands furiously. "Stop it!"
"Come on, the view is great outside. You'll love it."
Guan winked at her while unbuckling himself and went outside.
Liu Yang was left inside. She really wanted to punch someone right now. After a while, she calmed down a little and stepped out of the car. What greeted her was the flickering lights of the whole city. They're on top of a…mountain?
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
