100 DOESN’T WANT TO BE THE CENTER ATTENTION
As they entered the conference room, it was already packed with people. They took the seat along with their other officemates from the romance fiction department. Liu Yang searched for Wan Li and saw him seated in the corner left at the front, way too far from theirs which is in the middle.
Since it is an emergency meeting for all of the employees of the publishing, the executives were also present.
The main door opened and out came Min Chu with her signature stern look on her face. The room immediately turned silent as she strode towards the podium in the middle.
"Good afternoon, everyone." She started. Everyone's attention were all on her now.
"I called an emergency meeting because I have some important announcements. I know all of you heard about the news of changing the CEO at the main branch of the company. Well, that is entirely true."
There were murmurs around after Min Chu said those words. She looked at everyone and continued.
"…because of this, the company is conducting a celebration, more like an inauguration, and they plan to give access to editors to attend."
Min Chu paused for a moment when someone bravely raised a hand.
"Yes, do you have any problems or questions?"
Liu Yang's heart skipped a beat when Min Chu's eyes darted their way. She turned to the person beside her and saw Qiao Lan raising his hand.
"What are you doing?" she whispered at him but was ignored.
Qiao Lan raised to his feet and asked, "Ms. Min, is it only the editors or is the whole team invited?"
Min Chu replied, "As what I've said, only the editors are given access," she saw that the man nodded but she could sense his disappointment. She smiled and added, "…but don't worry, I'll try to convince CEO Niu to invite everyone."
Min Chu could almost hear gasps out of excitement. "For the second announcement, in two months' time, I'll temporarily leave the position of Editor-in-Chief for… my first child."
There was a pin-drop silence in the conference room after Min Chu's speech. Seems like everyone went speechless after her announcement. If it wasn't for an executive who clapped a hand, the dead silence might continue.
The room was filled with thunderous claps and unyielding congratulations for Min Chu. She smiled genuinely this time and said thank you to each and everyone.
On her seat, while clapping her hands, Liu Yang is in deep thought. 'So, this is the reason behind? If Ms. Min isn't pregnant, would he still continue to love her behind his brother's back?'
She somewhat felt pity for Guan at the moment. Why? She observed Min Chu from afar and could see why he loved someone like her. She's just so outstanding.
As the clapping of hands died down, Min Chu continued, "As of now, I'm still finding some candidate for the position. For the company matters, somehow, I'll still handle about those things. You can talk to my secretary about that."
Min Chu added some points to add before the meeting concluded. Going to her office, the phone in her pocket rang.
"Darling?"
"I'm downstairs waiting for you," a manly voice sounded on the phone. She smiled and glanced at her watch. "Guan is also here." She paused on her tracks for a bit then continued to stride to her desk to retrieve her things.
"Oh. He never told me he'd come."
"He said he's waiting for someone. Do you know?"
Min Chu frowned. "No."
She heard her husband sigh. "Okay. Come now, quickly. I miss you."
What he said made her giggle and her heart flutter. "Stop flirting with me," then she hung up.

Inside the elevator, Liu Yang together with Wan Li and the other employee stood in silence. It stopped on the Wan Li's floor and before going out, he announced, "Yang, wait for me downstairs at the lobby."
"Okay." Liu Yang answered quietly. She lazily fished her phone, unlocked it and saw a text message sent to her fifteen minutes ago.
It says: 'Let's have dinner. I'm already outside, waiting' with a smiley on it.
Liu Yang frowned. She had no idea who it was because it's an unknown number when a call came.
"Hello?" answering the call as she got out of the elevator with Qiao Lan behind her. Unknown to her, he saw the message and is curious as to who is the person behind it.
"Who is…"
"Guan?"
Liu Yang almost went frantic all of a sudden. Shit! What if Wan Li see him? What will she say to him? How would she explain? God! And everyone might see him! She doesn't want to be the center of attention tomorrow! She immediately grabbed her belongings and ran towards the elevator.
"Editor?" Qiao Lan called as he saw Liu Yang's state but was ignored and before he knew it, the doors of the elevator closed.
