89 I’M SORRY

"Why? Were you disappointed that it's me?"

Liu Yang saw the man's wide grin and only came back to her sense after hearing what he had said.

She let out a breath and replied, "No. I was just…shocked?" she said with uncertainty. Then, she held her right hand in front of him, "My name is Liu Yang, nice to meet you…again."

Even though she had a hunch that he probably already knew who she is, as a sign of politeness, she introduced herself.

The man chuckled and received her hand. Liu Yang felt electrocuted as their hands touched that made her shudder a little. But what he said next shocked her even more.

"My name is Guan Ning but you can call me Guan. Well, whatever you like."

Liu Yang went absent-minded for a while. "Guan Ning? As in Niu Guan Ning?"

Guan tightened his grip on her hand. He didn't know how she knew him… Ah! Su Bin, that fucker! His eyes darkened a little but hid it with a smile.

"You know me? I'm surprised. Why don't we have a seat first?"

"Oh, sure."

Guan pulled a chair for her then, he went to the other side of the table and sat on the opposite chair. He signaled the staff for some wine.

"Wine?" he offered Liu Yang who smiled and nodded.

The slow music is playing on the background. Liu Yang noticed that there is no grand piano nor a person playing a piano as she looked around then, she saw a turntable sitting on the corner. She thought 'Hmm, genius and classic.' She smiled inwardly and took a sip from her wine.

Liu Yang had to admit, the moment she laid eyes on him the first day they met she already had a crush on him. To be honest he's good-looking, neat, and looks fragrant. Too bad he is from a rich family – the brother-in-law of his boss on top of that. They're two worlds apart. Well, she better enjoy this moment while it last.

Silence followed. Only the beautiful sound of music could be heard. Liu Yang considered herself as an introvert so, she never strike a conversation and ruin the moment. After a moment, she heard him clear his throat and took a sip of wine before he started a conversation.

"I heard you work at Yinyang Publishing. Are you an editor?" Even though Guan already knew everything about her, for the sake of having a topic to discuss about, he asked an obvious question.

"I am. Uhm, can I ask you a question?" she with a smile.

"Sure, anything."

"Your surname is Niu therefore, you are Su Bin's cousin and the brother-in-law of Miss Min, right?"

At the mention of Min Chu, Guan's grip on the wine glass tightened. Brother-in-law. He looked up at her and force a smile. Liu Yang felt something odd with his reaction but brushed it off immediately.

"Yes, I am."

Liu Yang whispered, "Oh my god!" Then she abruptly rose form her seat startling Guan and bowed in front of him. "I'm really about what happened at the bookstore that day and also, I'm sorry if I called you conceited at the café. I'm really sorry Second Young Master, please forgive but please don't fire. I really love my job."

Liu Yang's thoughts ran wild. Maybe Second Young Master went on a blind date with her to tell Miss Min how bad her morals are. Maybe this is just a compensation for her hard work, after all she had a reputation at the publishing. Maybe…

Looking at the woman bowing in front of him, Guan could not help laugh, hard. He really didn't know what to say to her. Right now she looked…cute.

Liu Yang slightly raised her head and saw him laughing. Is this it? She wanted to cry right now.

The laughter died down and she heard him say, "It's okay. Just please, sit down."

She cautiously and slowly returned from her seat, afraid that he'll change his mind.

"You don't have to say sorry for that incident. I deserved it." And as if reading her thoughts, "I'm not going to fire you." He smiled cheekily after saying that.

Liu Yang felt her cheeks burned after she heard him say that.

"You know what, let's eat while talking." Guan offered and signaled the staff nearby to serve the food.
