73 UNEXPECTED CALL

Guan Ning nodded, fewling a little by what she had said.

Their dinner went rather smoothly. They talked about Guan Ning's life in America, which the latter talked leisurely.

After their dinner, Guan Ning drove Min Chu back to the old house. She invited him for a tea but he declined saying he has some important matters to attend to.

It's only 9 in the evening when Guan Ning arrived at his home. He went straight to his study to read the documents given to him by Guan Qing that morning.

Flipping through the documents containing about guidelines in the company, he felt bored when he received a call from Su Bin.

"What?" his bored voice greeted Su Bin.

"Can't I call you without any reason?"

Guan Ning felt irritated and hang up. Su Bin called right back.

"Hey, it's just a joke. Are you on your period today?"

"What do you want?" Guan Ning leaned his back on the chair and massaged his temples.

"Yu Mei's off this Thursday, she said she wanted to meet you on that day."

"Sure." he answered lazily, ended the call, and turned his phone off.

"8 pm at...hello?" Su Bin peered at his phone only to notice that the call was cut off.

He tried calling Guan Ning again but his phone is now turned off.

"What?! I haven't finished talking to him yet!"

"What are you grumbling about over there?" a female voice rang out by the door.

Su Bin turned his head and saw Yu Mei entering. "You're here early?"

"Hmm. I only came here to take a shower and a nap. I'll go back afterwards."

She puts her stuff on the couch where Su Bin is sitting and hugged him by the neck.

"Who are you talking to? Why do you seem so angry?" she whispered with her eyes closed, nestling her head on the crook of his neck.

Su Bin pulled her body down the couch with him, making her lay on top.

"Babe, stop it! I still have to go on duty," she pleaded.

He pouted and hugged her tight. "Why do you have to be on a night shift, huh?"

Yu Mei giggled. Their flirting and cuddling was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. She froze as she looked at the caller ID. She pushed her body away from Su Bin's embrace as she answered the call.

"Hello, Ge?" astonished by her brother's sudden call, Yu Mei sensed something is not right.

"Hello, little sister." Greeted by a man's voice on the other side of the line.

Su Bin also froze and looked at Yu Mei worriedly. Did her brother perhaps told their about them?

"What is it?" Yu Mei once again asked the person on the phone.

"Nothing, I just wanted to say hello. Where are you right now?"

"I…I'm in my condo. Why?" stammering, Yu Mei's heart is now beating fast.

"Really? When are you free? Care to have dinner with big brother? I'm feeling a little lonely right now."

Yu Mei's expression softened after hearing his brother's question. She softly laughed at his tone of voice. "I'm busy this week. How about next week? Thursday?"

She heard his long sigh of disappointment. "Fine. I'll call you that day then."

"Sure. Goodbye, Ge," she said with a smile.

"Hmm. Goodbye."

"What was it?" Su Bin asked beside as he hugged her waist.

"My brother just asked to have dinner with him on my free time," Yu Mei leaned on Su Bin's chest as she closed her eyes, feeling a headache coming.

"Oh. So, what now?"

"I already promised your cousin."

"Okay. Go take a shower now, you are probably exhausted," Su Bin kissed her forehead before releasing his arms on her waist.

"Yup! I better go after an hour or so." Yu Mei rose and went to her bedroom. Su Bin watched her petite body disappear from his view.

Yu Mei's apartment is a gift from Su Bin. Though her parents knew about the apartment and where it is located, they thought that Yu Mei bought it for herself, since it's near the hospital she's working. To avoid suspicion from her parents and the media, they never go over the house together and made a schedule of their dates.

For over a year, that kind of set-up made everyone at peace; or so they thought.
