2 Waking up from pain

Two days later, the storm had passed, two robust men wearing cloaks, were traveling for three days carrying a straw mat and a crate towards a large valley.

Red Rock Valley, one of the few territories that the Naga clan have claimed under their ownership.

The valley was known to house Red Iron, a type of forging material in rich amounts, but the area is very dangerous. Not only are the surface of the rocks brittle due to ages of sedimentation[1].

It also over 50-meters deep, a number of workers have lost their lives just by standing on the wrong location.

"Man, this sure is an easy job, we're getting paid just dumping bodies and deny any involvement."

"Yeah, this one seems light, must be child this time. Wonder why they paid more than usual?"

The two men were Gus and Frank, the third party, the ones who keep disposing any evidence of the Naga Clans underhanded deals.

Up to now, they had disposed of over a hundred bodies, being paid in silver coins to keep quiet, and if any news leaks out about bodies being disposed of, the Naga Clan can deny any involvement with these two when they make any form of mistake.

Hence they were never informed where the corpses came from, but that those not mean, they are innocent.

These two, apparently, weren't aware of one thing, they had to dispose the bodies using the money given to them, and keep the remaining.

What they have done up till now was drop the bodies in the valley and pocketed the whole payment.

"Finally, were hear. It's your turn to dump the body this time…"he turned and sneaked a peek at the crate Gus was carrying.

"Hey! I was the one this time who bought liquor, quality from the south, you just want to drink the booze first." Gus walked away, ignoring Frank's excuses.

A look of annoyance was on Frank, but he gave in.

"Yeah, yeah, you got me…Humph! There, now give me a drink…"Frank followed behind Gus in the cave he was heading.

The straw mat was thrown to the edge of the cliff, what they were carrying until know was the failure of the Naga's.

Stigma, before was unconscious earlier and had a broken leg from running from his captors.

Four days ago, he was only getting firewood in the forest, until he was attacked from behind, getting knocked out in the process.

When he woke up he tried to escape, but had gotten his arms broken from fighting back, as well as, another broken leg in the process which lead to him sustaining even more injuries and having all his limbs broken.

Leading nothing but hardship, would he let his fate end, just like that.

'Why did this happen… why do I have to suffer?' anger rose in him, despite felling pain.

'I want… to get…stronger… so no… one, can… treat me… this… way', however he was already pushing himself, his vision was getting duller as each time he tries to open his eyes, trying to stay awake.

'I want to change my fate' were his last thoughts.

His vision became dark…and he silently died.

"AH!!!!! HOW LONG AM I GOING TO FALL!!!"

Cheng Xuan, who was spirited away not long ago, was still falling, but what he was scared was not how high he was falling nor how fast he was going.

What scared him was that he could not see a thing in the veil of darkness.

He had been falling for almost an hour and nothing had changed, since then, he was hearing a voice asking him questions.

'Do you want, to see another world?' was one of the questions he kept on hearing.

'Do you want, to prove your worth?'

'Do you want, to live a different life?'

All these keep entering in his ears, entering his head, all of them, was what he wanted.

When he was in his home, he only played computer games, games that are story-driven, RTS or Real Time Strategies, Simulation, Crafting and Survival games.

Games that give him fantasies that what give his life excitement and discovery.

Without it, each day was dull to the point that it was more fun to overnight his gaming and have sleep deprivation during his day offs.

And the words that would change everything entered in his ears.

*BING!*

['Do you want to change you fate?']

[YES] OR [NO]

A notification had popped up with choices this time.

It was a simple question, but it was the most difficult decision anyone had to make.

Change one's fate?

Obviously anyone would agree, his life was difficult because he was ignorant of everything of society and had stayed ignorant, until all forms of difficulty came crashing down on him.

He didn't blame his parent's death, but his own shortcoming, and had feared he became a disappointment to his parents.

When he wakes up from this never ending darkness, he will honor their wishes, and live without regrets and make his parents proud of him, no matter what comes his way.

[YES]

He pointed his finger to his choice.

There was no need to hesitate, he only needed to brace himself for what comes next…

*BING!*

[A new soul has entered the Realm of the Spirits, and has accepted a choice…

Error… Error… Error…

New entity's requirements follows needed criteria, but a suitable host is not available…

Error… Error… Error…

Accessing Secondary Source…]

Words started to enter in his ears, which sounded almost like a computer system trying to reboot a failed fantasy installment update.

Suddenly, a blinding light flashed before his vision, and he felt like he was paralyzed from the neck bellow, like he was in a vegetable state.

If that wasn't enough, it occurred to him that he felt intense amounts of pain on his chest, his arms and his leg and especially his head.

He felt his body was burning and started snapping in every corner of his body.

*BING!*

[Soul assimilation to new born attempt failed, unable to find a new born with requirements that match soul's criteria…]

[Summon method attempt failed, no available area which match requirements…]

[Host Body with matching requirements found, however damage is present…]

[System will take time to repair new body…]

[Host body has very little life force…]

[Initializing Life Restoration Protocol…]

[Initializing…]

[Until further notice, new soul....]

Words kept entering in his head, but he couldn't focus, the pain kept on getting intense as each moment passed, but held on to not pass out.

[Changes will be made to host body…Entering previous memories to the soul…]

Images and voices he'd never seen and heard before, came pouring in front of him until he was blind, and then everything turned dark again…

---

At the same time…

Red Rock Valley, one of the few mining area, with abundant treasures with its own natural beauty, however because of the constant excavation of Red Iron from generations, had exhausted its resources, and destroyed the beautiful natural formations.

Now it's an abandoned valley, but because it was one of the few large territories in the province, the Naga's have yet to relinquished there ownership.

THUMP!!!

Instead of having the bones crushed from the fall, it was cushioned from the dozens of bodies underneath it.

Harrison had been using these two for over several years, and because of the recent killings every week, only made the location fill up with more corpses.

Since no guards were present to stop them, they're not aware of the location that had accumulated the bodies was a territory of the Naga's, and these two always come here to drink after using the money they earned from each job.

It was because of these two, the pile of bodies had become the size of a small hill if not for Veritas, that had been going out of control for months.

The bodies below would be a pile of bones leaving Stigma's body to be unable to heal if he survived.

Fortunately, the bodies were enough to only cushion the fall, not stop it.

BUMP!!!! BUMP!!!!BUMP!!!!

THUMP!!!

Finally the body landed in the end of a tunnel, breaking the rope holding the mat in place, and in the process exposing a figure.

The body was Stigma, more accurately it was the corpse of Stigma, visible blood was dripping from his head not moving even an inch.

*Creeaaak*

All of a sudden, the sound of doors opened by the side.

A low humming tune from a flute can be heard, who played it was a beauty with a thick, white veil covering her face.

Under it was skin pale, yet was clean as snow without a blemish or even make-up seen, her eyes were golden pure with black iris, that would drive any man, mad for her directed attention.

Her face didn't show a smile or boredom, but that of a sullen expression.

Her raven like hair reaches to her feet, dragging along as she walks.

What she wore on her, was a white, long sleeve gown with embroideries, depicting a moving river and as her dress sways, it gives of the image was real, with her no accessory can be seen, no rings, bracelets nor a headdress.

Her overall appearance can only be describe to four words, a beauty in mourning.

She then stopped playing and looked around, and saw Stigma's corpse.

Slowly she walked toward it and kneeled, she closed her eyes then chanted a mantra, she whispered 'I was too late to save this child… You have lead a poor life, may your fate change with this.'

A ball of light came from the doors, and flew towards the corpse when she walked away, towards the door of light, as she played her flute, her figure disappeared behind the closing doors.

The corpse of Stigma laid there for a few moments, until the small ball of light entered the body.

"Ah!!!" at that moment the corpse yelled in pain, Cheng Xuan was reborn as Stigma.

[Damage still present, System will provide repairs to the body until proper assimilation…]

Before he could speak, a burning sensation suddenly came to him.

The pain can be described as having continuous second degree burns, his skin was facing intense amounts of heat, and he had felt this before, it was when he was cooking for the first time and spilled boiling oil on his leg by accident, and yet this seemed endless.

His bones creaked.

His pain grew more intense after each breath, but because he couldn't move to embrace his body, he can only clench his teeth to the endless torture.

His body, flailing from the heat and pain, started to shed blood from his pores.

Before he noticed, his body started changing, his current body that was once covered in cuts and bruises started to heal leaving no scars, his hair that was green turn black with a hue of silver, his eyes that were grey started to change black, what was left of his fat started to shrink, like he was experiencing rapid starvation.

Inside his body, the bones that were broken started to mend to the proper positions, his organs that were damaged from the sharp bones piercing them were being repaired.

The toxins that were in his body from before started to focus in his stomach, and started to boil, making him regurgitate in the process.

One after another, pain after pain, he finally had enough and screamed.

"FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! WHY DID I HAVE TO WAKE UP FROM PAIN OF ALL THINGS! CAN'T I WAKE UP BEING EMBRACED BY A BEAUTY INSTEAD OR IN FIELD WITH A DOZEN BEAUTIES BATHING IN A WATERFALL!!!"

The pain continued for about an hour, before he could pass out and check his surroundings…

*BING!*

[Success in assimilation, compiling…]

*BING!*

Moments later he didn't care anymore and passed out…
