15 'Awesome big sister'

"Why are you standing there Elly?" When I heard Lady Rachael's voice I jumped as I was startled. Then I remembered her gift, she can see me! I was still standing at the door, Lady Rachael walked towards me while saying, "I asked why are you standing there? Come in, we were cleaning the hall. Wanna join?"

I had no idea why I was tensed but after hearing her I let out a sigh, and said while me hugging myself "I woke up and couldn't relapse to sleep. So came out for a walk to get some fresh air. You could have called me for cleaning" She smiled and waved her hand saying, "Its no big deal. Anyway are feeling alright now?"

I gave her a little smile saying, "Yeah I am good now." She nodded, when the head butler came to inform that the cleaning was over. "Then shall we go to the garden, Elly?" I looked at her with the expression why? She understood my expression and said, "Didnt you say you came out to get some fresh air. Since the work here is over we can go there."

I remembered my words and nodded vigorously. Lady Sonja smiled and left the hall. That was the first time I saw her smile ever since I came to the mansion. Besides while taking the walk I can ask her about the archives.

We both said good night to Lord Raphael and left. Lord Raphael wanted to come with us so much but Lady Rachael cut him off. We both went to the garden, more like to the forest.

"So what is it Elly? That doesn't allow you to sleep", Lady Rachael asked in a deep voice. I froze standing still on hearing her. Does she read mind too? I steadied myself and continued walking amd said, "Nothing much, lot of things happened lately. I just need some time to adjust to the current speed of my life"

Its not like I am lying or anything, literally we, vampires are moving fast compared to normal humans abilities. She let out a sigh and said, "Thank god Elly, I was afraid that you feel uncomfortable with us. Ever since the day you came to the mansion you have been maintaining a distance with us and always seem to be in some thought. Take your time to open up to us. Our family is always waiting for you"

I felt a bit guilty on hearing her words. She was trying in her own way to make me comfortable. Yet I was confused and unstable with my emotions. Even though I was alone in the battlefield I never felt lonely. I was always surrounded by my team and newbies who loves to learn from me.

But being in this house with people who say they are my family and started to act like one. I felt startled at first and thought of myself as a replacement. But as time goes on I want to be a one of them. Lady Rachael's words just now gave me the conviction to become one of them.

I smiled at her and changed the topic, "Do you guys hate werewolves?" She shaked her head saying, "Not at all. They are almost equal in power to us. The current werewolf head and our father are best comrades. There are even some hybrids born between vampires and werewolves. If we hate them, why would we invite them to the party?"

Her words seem to be true, then why did she behave hostile towards jacob today. If their parents were friends, then wouldn't they should be friends too? Does she hate only jacob then? Should I ask her? "Rachael shall I ask you something?", I asked her respectfully.

She looked excited and said "Anything" I shrank my brows and asked in a low tone, "Let me rephrase my question, do you hate jacob?" Her expression changed then she asked with a annoyed tone, "So you love him?" I let out a sigh and shaked my head saying, "Definitely not! He is my best friend from we were little kids. He was the only family I had from back then. He is important to me."

I said the last sentence purposefully so that she will consider treating him better. But to my surprise she became more annoyed and said, "I really, really hate him!" I frowned and asked "Why?" She looked helplessly at me and said, "Elly! Can't you see? Its obvious I feel jealous of him. My little sister likes that idiot more than me!!!"

I was dumbfounded! What can I reply to that? Why does everyone feel jealous of that stupid as*. I dont remember treating him that good. I tried to console by her saying, "What is there to feel jealous about Rachael? If anyone has to be jealous about something, it has to be him. I have this awesome big sister living with me everyday. He will never get that in his lifetime."

On hearing the word 'awesome big sister' Rachael's nose grew big. She was so satisfied to hear it. She said with a happy tone like spoiling her little sister, "Its not like that Elly dear. This big sister is only for my Elly, okay? Since you said he is your childhood friend I will treat him better next time. Dont worry." Asuna nodded childishly as if she was being spoiled. Looking at the obedient little sister, Rachael felt so good.

"Sister Rachael is there any books about demons in the mansion?", without further delay I used the good mood to ask about books. She replied in a jovial tone, "There is a library in the south side of mansion near the research lab. Do you want read more about demons?"

I nodded and thought about whether to say or not then finally said to her, "I heard from haru, my demon spirit that I can summon him as a familiar but he doesn't know the method either. So I thought about searching it in related books."

She looked like understood my thoughts and said, "Okay! I will take you tomorrow morning after the conference. Now go to sleep its late." Before going back to my room, I replied in a happy tone, "Thank you sister Rachael and you too have a good sleep."
