5 Nightmares and resolutions

Back to the house, at night...

Eva is laying in her bed. She seems to be sleeping peacefully. But she's not.

Her eyes open. All she see is darkness.

"He, he, he! You're finally here," says a distorted-male voice.

She turns her head to the right, then to the left. Nothing.

"Where is here?" she asks, trying to find where the voice came.

"He, he, he! Here is the where you belong. The darkness", says another distorted voice, but this time is a female.

"You feel it, don't you?" says the distorted-male voice.

Eva turns and turns, but she cannot find where the voices come from.

"Feel what?" asks Eva frightened. "This is not real, not real" she murmurs.

"Of course, this is real", says the distorted-male voice.

"You feel your blood calling, claiming for the darkness. He, he, he!", says the distorted-female voice smiling.

"You did well. Those puny seekers don't understand it," continues the distorted-male voice. "They don't understand you. You're powerful."

"They are afraid of you, so they belittle you."

"Come to us."

"Find us."

"You're ours."

The voices keep talking one after the other. Eva turns and turns, but she still cannot figure it out where the voices come from. She cannot keep it anymore. She puts her hands in her ears, as if she is trying to silence them. But it doesn't work. Little by little, she bends down. She cannot keep it anymore, so she does the only thing she can.

She screams.

"Enough!. I said enough!"

"Enough…"

"Eva! Eva wake up. You're just dreaming. Everything is fine," hears Eva, as she is been shake.

She opens her eyes to find that she is been hugged. By Lucien.

"What are you doing here?" she asks, while she tries to free herself from the bad sensation that the dream left her. She still can hear the voices in her head and those final words, 'Come to us, find us, you're ours'.

"It's not what you think. I was talking to your sister when I heard you screaming. So, I came and, as you were trembling, I decided to wake you up," says Lucien as he gets up of the bed, and begins to walk around the room, nervous.

"Okay. I'm fine, so you can get out of my bedroom. Now", she says as she points the door.

He sighs, but instead of doing what she has told him, he does the opposite. He approaches to the bed, bends towards her.

"You scare the hell out of me," he whispers in her ears.

He gets up and walks away.

She sights. Not only she has to deal with what that strange man from before, but also that terrifying dream. The last thing she wants to do is deal with some handsome shifter. 'Jerk, he is a jerk shifter; not handsome', she corrects herself.

She sights again and closes her eyes. She knows what she has to do know, but that does not make it any easier.

She gets up from bed, grabs her jacket and her bag and walks to her door.

Fifteen minutes later…

"Okay. We are here. What do we do now?" says Eva.

As you can imagine, they are again in front of the Library's door. However, this time Lucien is not with the girls.

Eva is trembling. But she doesn't know whether it is because of the cold, or because she is nervous. Or maybe it is because she regrets the way she talked to him.

"Hmm, L gave me this," says Leah and she opens her right hand, so that her sister can see the key.

Then, she closes her hand, walks to the door and places her left hand on the door. She murmurs the words that L said she should memorize and, suddenly her right hand starts to glow.

"Ouch!" exclaims Leah.

A burning sensation from her hand makes her open her hand to drop the key. However, the key is no key. Instead, a light, but still visible, 'k' appears in the palm of her hand.

"What the…" says Eva as she approaches and looks at her sister's hand.

Suddenly, the door opens. The sister look at each other, nodding, and then they enter to the building.

When they are near to L's chamber, they hear he says, "See… What did I tell you? They came. Now give my ten bucks."

"Hm! Fine. Here," says Darius and gives the money to L.

"Did you just make a bet on us?" asks Eva a bit annoyed.

"Why not? Every decision that we make is a bet whether it will work or not," says L. "Now, please, come in."

"Okay. So you win, we are here. Now, what?" says Eva.

"Now… He, he, he! Now you get ready for your first mission: to retrieve the Shadow Ashwood Recurve."
