1 They are back
If you are reading this, that means you're a Seeker: someone who wants to know, to understand the world where they live. Because you know that knowledge is power.
But I bet you don't know who is in charge of protecting the knowledge and keeping it safe and sound. It is the Library: an institution connected to different worlds. Lead by the Librarian, both Seekers and Scriveners are the ones who fight against those who want to destroy the status quo, the balance between good and evil: the Dark Clan.
But let's not precipitate, shall we? This story begins with the arrival of two sisters to Forgotten Town.
Here they are. The girls. They have arrived to the land where magic, so pure, could be sensed in the air. To a town their ancestor gave their lives for. To their house, where every Drakos have lived until that event, eight years before. And here they are, the last of the Drakos' bloodline: Eva and Leah Drakos.
Although they are sisters, they are quite different. Leah, the eldest of the sisters, has jet-black hair, silver-gray eyes and a mischievous smile. She is outgoing, though clumsy, and always ready to have a good time. On the other hand, Eva is a redhead with beautiful violet eyes. She is always in bad humor, but very intelligent.
Eva is looking at the house. They had to leave the last one because of this crazy idea Leah had: to return to the family house in Forgotten Town, where all the magical misfits could find a place to be themselves. Or at least that is what the sign before entering the town says. The truth is that place is the boundary between their world and yours. The non-magical world.
At first, the house seems not only old, but abandoned as well. It has two floors, with a porch in the first and a balcony in the second. The color of the façade is dirty-brown, instead of the white it used to be. In addition, one of the windows on the second floor is hanging. Well, all the windows are broken. With a snap of the fingers, Leah starts to change the outside of the house, returning it to its past glory.
"You're just bragging", says Eva rolling her eyes to her sister as she goes inside the house.
"And you're just jealous because your powers haven't awakened yet", says Leah following her.
Like outside, the inside of the house is also changing. New furniture replaces old ones. Floor and walls are refurbished, without losing the feeling of belonging, of returning home. Eva turns towards her sister.
"Yeah, just rub more salt into the wound. Thanks", says Eva pretty hurt and turns back.
You may not know but witches don't always have their powers. They awake when the witch arrives to puberty and since Eva is eighteen, it means that she should have them. But she doesn't.
"Ev. You know I didn't say it like that. One of the reasons we've come is to know—", says Leah to Eva's back.
"To know how to fix me", finishes Eva.
"How many times do I have to tell you that you're not broken", says Leah quite altered. This was not the first time they had this discussion, and for sure it won't be the last. "Who knows, maybe you're just cursed."
"Ha, ha. You're so funny", says Eva.
Eva turns to see the result. Now the house looks like if it had always had people living in, and not being abandoned for years.
"Well, what do you think?", asks Leah, trying to change the subject.
"It is like if nothing has happened", says Eva. 'Like if that terrible night didn't happen', thinks while going upstairs. "I'm going to my bedroom."
"Hey! Your bags and stuff are already there. But it's not tidied up. Please, put your things in their place," yells Leah near the stair.
Suddenly, the bell rings. Someone is at the door.
