At a hidden palace in hell, Artemis laid on the ground panting for air and wincing in pain, forcefully awakening his son's power with his own from an entire realm away without any supporting formations was extremely strenuous and consumed much of his power. As if exhaustion wasn't enough it also aggravated his injury from his fight with the generals years ago.
'In the end, I've only managed to ensure his survival and couldn't stop him from being sealed. There is nothing to be done now I must continue to recover and if he is still sealed when I return I'll just forcefully remove the seal.'
Artemis closed his eyes once again returning to his slumber as he slowly healed from his wounds. Meanwhile in the new emperor's palace in hell six generals were kneeling in front of a mighty throne where an imposing figure sat and looked down on them with an angry expression.
"Where is Gaolun, he dares defy his emperor's summons?!"
Just then at one side of the room one of seven flames burning atop magnificent altars suddenly exploded before fizzling out. Seeing this happen the emperor rose from his throne in rage.
"IMPOSSIBLE! Who dares to kill one of my generals?! Krodden, Haophuso, Koldu, Okral, Sunoz, and Gosand I hereby order you to immediately find the one who dared taken Gaolun's life, mobilize any necessary forces to turn every clan upsidedown until you find the culprit! GO!"
The emperor was truly infuriated, Gaolun was his main strategist and he had been planning to make full use of him on the day he led the demon armies to the overworld. Now that he was dead he would have to put in much effort and many resources towards finding another general who was not only powerful but also smart enough to be his primary strategist. The six generals rose and left the room immediately without a sound, after leaving the room the generals shouted orders at their respective commanders to mobilize all forces in search of Gaolun's killer. After the commanders left under their orders the generals each looked at each other before smiling and breaking out into laughter. Only one general remained stoic and solemn eyeing the other generals as if they were foolish children that needed to be disciplined.
"What's your problem Krodden, that disgrace of a general has finally decided to go die. You can't have actually cared for him, could you? How weak!"
Krodden disappeared in a flash and before Koldu could even react he was slapped on the face with such force that he was thrown to the ground.
"Gaolun may have acted with disgrace on occasion but he was still smarter an stronger than any of you! Yet someone still managed to take his life, do you not realize what this means? Anyone powerful enough to kill Gaolun is certainly more than powerful enough to kill any of you"
The generals looked at each other in realization, each of them had fought each other before to establish superiority and Gaolun came in very close second to Krodden even almost attaining victory by using underhanded tricks and schemes. Satisfied with himself after making the others realize the potential danger he turned around and began to walk away, silently thinking up plans and countermeasures in case of an attempt on his life.
--Overworld, Kingdom of Dawn--
In the blink of an eye, a year had past and it was only after that year that Lucas's family came to know of his "death". The church's excuse was that they were conducting an investigation and did not want to risk alerting him in case he had attempted to escape, but of course, this was far from the truth. I reality the church had long since secretly marked Lucas so they would know if he attempted to escape and it was precisely this mark that had told them he had died when the mark faded. The mark faded the moment Lucas had entered the underground altar due to the formations but the church couldn't be bothered to send anyone to inform his family. They couldn't even be bothered to send an inquisitor to search for his body as they merely sent an initiate in his place. Due to this four people were standing in the throne room each of them mourning the passing of Lucas and also showing anger towards the king.
"You should have never sent him to the church even if you despised him he was still my son too! He could have been good if you had allowed me to raise him like a normal child he could have turned into a magnificent son, but you couldn't even give him that! You made sure to make every moment of his life hell, I will never forgive you for this Roland!"
After shouting at Roland Lucas's mother turned and stormed out followed by Lucas's only caring brother after giving an angry look at Roland before he left. All that was left was Lucas's little sister who weakly turned around and walked away, still sobbing into her hands due to the news of Lucas's death. After each of them left Roland let out a deep sigh as he gazed up through the glass ceiling of the throne room, wondering how long it would take his wife and children to get over this matter. At this moment a hooded figure came out from a dark corner in the back of the room and approached the throne from behind. Just as Roland had a bad feeling and was about to turn his head back the hooded figure grabbed his hair and yanked his head back before slitting his throat.
Roland fell from the throne and looked back while desperately trying to stop the massive amount of blood pouring from his neck. He stared at the hooded figure in his last moments desperately trying to see the culprit behind his assassination, unfortunately for him, the answer would only lead him to deep fear and questions he would not be able to learn the answer to before his death. The hooded figure stared back at Roland while removing his hood revealing a face, Roland's face.
