133 The miasma revolts

The first thing Bai Yun did was to sit down and bandage up his leg. After he rested for a while and recovered his qi, Bai Yun collected the venom of the great earthen lizard. He also pulled out the demonic core from the lizard before leaving.

After this Bai Yun wandered about the poison valley for the next few days. Bai Yun traveled the entire length of the poison valley looking for exotic toxins. He even went to check out the lake at the end of the poison valley to look for poisons.

And his travels were quite fruitful. Bai Yun ran into many different venomous and poisonous beasts and plants in his journey. He was even lucky enough to find another set of poisonous minerals. After collecting them all, Bai Yun was almost done with collecting all the necessary ingredients for hundred poison immunity.

Bai Yun only needed one more poison to finish his list. He needed a poison that was a mixture of multiple poisons. But it wasn't completely necessary. He could make one himself if needed, but finding one in nature would reduce his effort. So Bai Yun continued to look for it.

As Bai Yun was walking around, Bai Yun noticed that the density of miasma in the surrounding air was increasing. Bai Yun took out the testing paper and saw that it had turned black. This surprised Bai Yun. Black meant that the concentration of all the various components of the miasma had reached a dangerous level. This usually only happened near the lake. Bai Yun couldn't understand what was happening here.

Bai Yun quickly ate the corresponding antidote and looked around. Something was clearly happening, but Bai Yun did not know what.

Seeing that the situation was taking a turn he did not know about, Bai Yun decided to leave the poison valley. He turned around and started to walk towards the exit of poison valley.

But even though Bai Yu was walking fast the miasma was rising even faster. Not only was the miasma quickly increasing, but there was even a strong eerie feeling to it. Bai Yun realized that if this kept up, he would not be able to leave the poison valley before the miasma levels rose too high and the antidote became useless.

Bai Yun stood there and thought for a moment. Then Bai Yun changed his direction and headed for the cliffs surrounding the poison valley. The poison valley was a long serpentine valley that was sandwiched between two cliffs. This meant that the distance to the cliffs were much shorter than the distance to the entrance to the valley.

So Bai Yun ran straight at the cliffs. As he ran, the miasma increased rapidly and it started to revolt. The black miasma slowly started to cloud Bai Yun's vision. He could feel the effects of the antidote rapidly deteriorating. Thankfully Bai Yun reached the cliffs before it completely failed.

Bai Yun quickly started to climb the cliffs. Ever since he reached the foundation establishment stage, his basic strength had greatly improved. So Bai Yun was able to climb the steep and long cliff quite easily. He even used his soul tendrils to accelerate his progress. The cliffs of the poison valley were hundreds of meters tall. So they towered over any vegetation in the valley.

Bai Yun quickly climbed to the top of the cliff and rolled onto the ground. He then stood up and looked down at the poison valley.

What Bai Yun saw stunned him. He realized that the entire valley was covered in a thin black miasma. As time passed the miasma became thicker and thicker. Soon the entire valley was covered in a black mist.

Bai Yun stood there staring at the valley. He had no idea what was happening. He did not read about this in any of the books in the clan.

Bai Yun stood on the cliff and looked around. He could see a few people who were standing on the cliffs in the distance. They must have climbed the cliffs to escape the miasma just like him.

As Bai Yun stood there, suddenly his god devil sense screamed in warning. He pushed off the cliff straight up and somersaulted in the air. Bai Yun landed on the ground and looked at where he was sitting just a moment ago, to see that that location had been taken over by a leopard like animal.

The leopard like animal was dirt red in color with rocky patches all over it in various joints as well as its neck and forehead. It turned around to look at Bai Yun, and snarled in anger that its ambush had failed.

The poison valley was in the evergreen hills. Thus there were many dangerous demonic beasts all around poison valley. But due to the nature of poison valley, most of these beasts did not dare to venture in there. Only the ones with good poison resistance would usually enter poison valley.

With one look, Bai Yun realized that the leopard was at the sixth circle level. Bai Yun had never fought anything that strong and wasn't sure that he could win easily. True, he killed Ye Chen who was equally strong, but that was with a sneak attack.

The leopard leaped at Bai Yun with a snarl. Bai Yun swung his sword at the leoprd, colliding with the rocky patch on its forehead. But the leopard was stronger than he expected, and Bai Yun found himself being pushed back. Bai Yun stabilized himself, only to find that the leopard had disappeared.

Feeling something behind him, Bai Yun suddenly dropped down to the ground on all fours quickly, only to feel the leopard soaring right above him. Standing up, Bai Yun cast soundless motion to increase the distance from the leopard. The leopard turned around at leaped at Bai Yun once again.

The leopard was incredibly fast. Its speed was its greatest feature. Thankfully Bai Yun was able to capture it with his new eyes. But even then it was difficult for Bai Yun to respond in time. His body simply couldn't keep up with his eyes and the leopard.

But thanks to the simple sword as well as his fighting experience, Bai Yun was able to keep the leopard at bay. But the more time that passed, the worse his situation became. It was taking a lot of concentration to keep up with the leopard. It was having a huge drain on Bai Yun's mind. The leopard noticed it too, so it was in no hurry to kill Bai Yun.

Suddenly Bai Yun missed a step. The claw of the leopard swung through the air and knocked Bai Yun's sword out of the way. Seeing the chance, the leopard sped up and charged at Bai Yun.

Seeing the danger, Bai Yun hurriedly cast wind motion. He rapidly moved back, but the movement tangled up his legs and he fell down on the ground. Feeling the leopard approaching, Bai Yun rolled over and escaped its next attack.

Suddenly Bai Yun found that he had neared the cliff. Suddenly Bai Yun got an idea. He quickly got up and faced the leopard once again. The back and forth continued, and once again Bai Yun got injured. This time Bai Yun jumped back towards the cliff, but when he landed, he fell over awkwardly.

Seeing Bai Yun fallen on the ground, the leopard ran at Bai Yun excitedly. It leaped with its jaws open straight towards Bai Yun's neck, intending to finish him off.

It was at that moment that Bai Yun finally utilized his soul tendrils. His four soul tendrils grabbed the leopard and lifted it up as hard as he could. The leopard was confused for a moment, and then it roared and shook its body rapidly, breaking the hold of the soul tendrils. But by then the damage had been done.

The leopard flew over Bai Yun and landed away from him. Bai Yun used wind motion to approach the leopard, and punched him, sending it flying once again. The leopard tried to get up once again, but Bai Yun used his soul tendrils to roll the dirt beneath its feet to make it lose its balance and fall. Bai Yun then neared the leopard and kicked it with all his strength.

And with that, Bai Yun kicked the leopard over the cliff. It flew in an arc over the cliff edge and into the valley. The leopard seemed to be a little confused over the lack of ground beneath its feet, but it did not help it from falling to the poison valley.

Bai Yu carefully watched the situation from the top of the cliff. Bai Yun did not think that the cliff was tall enough to kill the leopard. So he watched to see if it would climb up.

And Bai Yun was right. A few minutes later, Bai Yun saw the leopard climbing up the side of the hill. It was cut and bleeding in many places on its body. It also had a few pieces of vegetation stuck on its body. It probably collided with a tree on the way down and that probably saved its life.

But the leopard was quite purple. The various beats living in poison valley had built up a tolerance for the poisonous miasma. Bai Yun figured that they would be fine even after the increase in the miasma. But as a beast from the evergreen hills, the leopard had no natural defense against the miasma. So it was quickly poisoned by the thick miasma.

When the leopard came close, Bai Yun leaped off the cliff directly at the leopard. He landed on the head of the leopard ad kicked it as hard as he could. The force of the fall along with the power of the kick forced the weakened leopard off the cliff once again. It fell back into the miasma and quickly disappeared from view.

Bai Yun rose for a while before he stopped rising, quite a good distance from the top of the cliff. At that point, Bai Yun stabbed the cliff with his sword to create something to hold on to. He also used his soul tendrils to move him closer to the cliff. Grabbing hold of the cliff, Bai Yun quickly climbed back up to the top.

Bai Yun stood there and waited for the leopard, but it never came up again. Bai Yun watched closely as the thick miasma covered the valley.

Bai Yun watched as the miasma rolled beneath his feet. He opened the god and devil eyes to glance at the other adventures who had taken refuge on the cliffs. He saw that they had all started to settle in for the day and was not waiting for the miasma to go down. Thinking that they must know something about the miasma that he did not, Bai Yun decided to follow suit and settle in for the night.

The next morning when he woke up, Bai Yun realized that the miasma had all but disappeared. He could only see a very thin mist in the poison valley, which looked to be even thinner than usual. A look around showed that the other adventures had already left.

So Bai Yun also started to climb down the cliff to look for answers.
