226 Monke and a Quick Discussion

"… Merethyl, did I just hear you correctly?"

"It is as I say. One of the evacuees was getting too nosey."

I stared at her for a brief moment, before sighing. "Well, nothing we can do about that. "As much as I'd like to limit their stay to the Human Town, a better name is still being considered, I'll have to set up some sort of tour service for the evacuees."

Merethyl nodded along with my suggestion. "I assume that you're going to appoint me as the tour guide?"

"No, someone else will be the tour guide. Preferably a human, since I'm definitely sure that some of the people in these few thousand evacuees will most likely be racists." I recalled the scene where another Karen was going on about how ugly some of the demi-humans were.

The result of said action led the Karen to be nearly mauled by the demi-human who wasn't taking shit against the lady. I guess the lady had never encountered a person who would immediately resort to violence when getting dissed.

'Yep, that lady will die if she is thrown into Praeccathae in the first few minutes of her transfer.'

Erasing that grim, but admittedly amusing, thought from my mind, I focused on picking the right man for the job.

And when in doubt, pick the easiest option.

Accessing the Dungeon Communication tab, I quickly navigated through the list of available contacts and landed on my target. Connecting to the man, the screen lit up and showed me the face of Luke. "Luke, are you… free… What's wrong…?"

The face Luke was giving me wasn't something I would've ever expected to see plastered on his face. He looked dead on his feet, his eyes lifeless, and his lips thinned into a straight line.

"This." Luke showed me the reason why. Once my eyes landed on the scene, I burst out laughing, with Merethyl, who was also free to watch, chuckling lightly at the side.

"L-Luke… A-are… Hahaha… Are you some kind of playground statue!?" My words came out in gasps as my laughter continued to echo around the room. The scene on the screen showed Luke being used as some kind of climbing challenge for the demi-human kids. "A-Anyway…"

Coughing slightly from the laughter, I steadied myself, holding in the laughter that was threatening to burst out of my gut.

"Luke, I have a job for you." At my words, Luke's eyes lit up.

"I'll do it!" Instantly, Luke sprung to life.

"Damn, you're eager to leave your… current job." Luke didn't pay any heed to my words as he quickly sprinted through the town, garnering a few curious eyes wondering about why some kind of person cosplaying as a knight was sprinting through the place.

Cutting off the connection, both Merethyl and I chuckled together, a bit amused at the reaction of the loyal knight.

"So, how's your sister?" Merethyl stopped chuckling before smiling.

"She's just fine. Takes her new job passionately, even though she hated it at first." At her words, I couldn't help but agree with the elf. "I still remember her nearly burning down the kitchen because she hated cooking and wanted out of the, and I quote, 'Stupid shiny tiny room filled with shiny utensils.'"

"I still can't believe that in just a week, her behavior with cooking turned 180. Just goes to show how life can be spontaneous." Merethyl smiled, a bit of shadow marring her face as she wallowed in her thoughts.

'And if I'm guessing right, she's talking about her old Hunter team.' The smug face of that demon bastard still made me pop a vein, but I still can't help but hate myself for not offering help to the human couple. 'Kayla, Lennon, wherever you are, I hope you can forgive me for my mistakes.'

"Sir Jionni, I have arrived." Opening the door to the room was Luke, not even shedding a sweat from his sprint from the kid's playground to here, which was a good few blocks away. "So, what is this job you have for me?"

"It's quite simple really. You know these human evacuees we just accepted yesterday?"

"Who here doesn't know? With that many humans entering the Dungeon, only a blind or deaf person would miss that." Luke raised an eyebrow, still a bit confused at what I was hinting at.

"Well, I want you to act as a tour guide." Luke hummed, and I continued. "As for why I chose you out of all the possible options, it's just because you're perfect."

"You're white and a human." Luke was then perplexed by the reasons. Even Merethyl was confused about the white part. "Let me explain. For some reason, discrimination against black people is somewhere between a common and uncommon occurrence in this country. As for why, it had something to do with black people being slaves in the past. Which was too damn long ago. I still have no idea why it applies to modern times."

"… Pardon my bluntness, but are the people here mentally retarded?"

"As much as I don't want to say that, my opinion on that, is yes." I sighed into my palm at the memory of some bullying attempts against the black-skinned students back in high school. "Seriously, it's just fucking skin color. We all bleed the same color."

"And I assume that even with white skin, demi-humans are a no go… Because?"

"Just because. Trust me on that front. True, there may be some exceptions, but if a demi-human becomes the tour guide, there just might be a chance that a racist will call them out on it while being a little shit."

The three of us descended into silence for a moment, before Merethyl decided that silence was bad and sound was good.

"So, does that mean you're going to assign the local humans to manage the evacuees?"

"Nope. Everything is alright where it is currently. I've already talked about it with General Winchester about the possibility, and he said that those that try to cause a commotion, I have free reign to administer punishment, as long as I follow their land's laws."

"That gives me a little bit of relief, at least." Luke admitted with a small smile.

"Plus, it's funny seeing the pieces of cancer in society being put in their place by those they deem bad in their eyes. It's funny as hell." I cackled to myself, my shoulders trembling at the memory of a few scenes of Karens and Kevins getting their asses handed to the local people they badmouthed.

"So, are you up to this task, Luke?"

"I accept this offer, Sir Jionni." Luke smiled for a bit, before it turned uneasy. "Although, I fear for the potential outburst the kids may have when I don't return in the next hour to the playground."

"Don't worry, I'll send in another sacrifice."

"… You truly are merciful, Sir Jionni." Not minding the term I used, Luke looked at me like I was some kind of God, while Merethyl sighed, clearly understanding that the both of us were jesting with each other.

"So, Mariona…"

"No. And that's final." In an instant, my words were cut off before she stormed out of the room.

"Well, at least I tried. Oh, one last thing, Merethyl. Could you bring the person you talked about earlier to me? I have something I want to discuss with him."

"Understood." And with that, Mariona bid us goodbye as Luke and I stayed in the room and enjoyed each other's company with a few snacks and beverages.

I leaned back in my chair inside my office, the same place where Luke, Mariona, and I had our discussion earlier.

This idea was quickly made on the spur of the moment. This was because if something happened, I could be a few blocks away and quickly arrive at the problematic scene.

Taking my phone from the table, I scrolled through MyTube and watched some esports. I may be a Dungeon Master, but my fascination with esports was always through the roof, even before I became a Dungeon Master.

As I watched a clip of the iconic, "Look at the cleanse, look at the moves!" Someone knocked on the door of my office.

"Come in." The moment I said that, the door opened, showing Merethyl guiding the person she was talking about earlier.

"Jionni, this is Daniel, the one who I talked about earlier." Daniel, for the most part, looked a little bit nervous when he entered my office.

"Relax, Daniel. If you haven't figured it out by now, my name's Jionni, and I welcome you to my Dungeon." I smiled at the young adult, who nodded slightly before stepping into the room with shaky legs. "Merethyl, I can handle this from here. Mariona was looking for you earlier, so I suggest you head over to her right away."

Merethyl bowed before leaving the two of us alone inside the office.

"Come Daniel, take a seat. I have something I wish to ask of you."
