221 Monke and the Start of the Evacuation

I stood in front of the school, my eyes squinting slightly due to the massive number of people currently heading inside the building.

More specifically, my Dungeon.

'I had to spend almost all of my DP just to increase the capacity of the Human Town, as well as instantly build accommodating houses on such short notice.'

DP: 25,417 =\u003e 533

Yep, the things I do for the future.

Beside me, Drake was chilling, once again reading his cultured manga in broad daylight, garnering some disgusted faces from the common people.

The soldiers, however, respected the man for reading said cultured manga in public. As some in the military say, a lot of soldiers are otakus.

Some normies should take note of that. People who put their lives in danger to protect the country, who read manga that may or may not be suitable for work, are people I admire with all my heart.

Seriously, the whole censoring shit is bullshit.

My minor grievances aside, I spotted some familiar faces heading inside the building. Nudging Drake, he looked at me for a moment, before redirecting his gaze to the entrance.

Eyes slightly widening, Drake pocketed his manga before approaching the group of students, numbering four.

Leaving the man to his reunion, I noticed the soldier tasked with monitoring Drake and I tense slightly when Drake marched towards the students like a man on a mission.

"Relax, those are his friends." I waved my hand towards the soldier. "Leave him be; it's been years since he last saw them."

The soldier nodded hesitantly, but still looked at Drake, waiting for anything that might happen, which is next to null.

The worst that could happen was a punch to the gut, courtesy of his friends, but otherwise, nothing bad.

And lo and behold, I was right. Drake and his friends were bonding again after a punch to the gut and snickering, with one of the males accepting the manga Drake had pocketed inside his satchel.

Closing my eyes, I sighed as I reminisced about the time when I still went to school here.

'Could I have changed the way things should've been if I'd been more outgoing? Would anything change…?'

My mind took me down memory lane, my eyes picturing a lone human sitting at a school desk. People all around him mingled. The only one left out was him… Me…

Shaking my head off of those thoughts, I buried the memory deep within the recesses of my brain.

'None of that matters anymore. What matters is the present.' Smiling softly as the images of Domino, Catalina, and Drake entered my mind, I chuckled lightly.

As all of that happened, I saw two faces that instantly brought my mood into the negatives.

"… Greg… Janice…" I gritted my teeth as I saw the faces of my parents haughtily moving down the line like a pair of pompous assholes. "Looks like they haven't changed… The disgusting humans…"

Noticing my mood swing, the soldier monitoring me shakily approached me with a threatening glare.

"Sir, please, remain cal-"

"I am calm. Angry-calm, more like." Swerving my gaze away from the two human trash, who most definitely saw me as a smile went up their faces like Christmas came early, I regarded the soldier who was nearly drawing his sidearm. "No need to be tense. I won't cause any harm to your people. Unless they give me a reason too… Such as that."

I pointed at a pair of humans now getting physical with each other as cries and curses flew up in the air. Surrounding them, soldiers with their weapons holstered ran to contain the mess.

Needless to say, the two people having a fist fight in broad daylight were cuffed and sent to a detainment booth for the meantime.

"Wonder what that was all about?" I mused as the soldier nodded his head along with me, the same question running through his mind like a river. "Anyway, unless things like that happen without you, I won't be raising my hand."

The soldier's only response was to remain silent as he continued to watch both me and Drake, who was still mingling with his friends just by the side of the entrance so that they couldn't be a hindrance to the ongoing evacuation.

'But if those two pieces of human garbage ever dare think that they still own me, then there's another thing coming to them.'

~ Third Person POV ~

"Pol, you goddamn idiot. What the hell were you thinking?"

"Hey! The bastard started it!"

Daniel stared at his roommate, who was sporting a black eye due to his earlier bout with another person while in line.

"I know he started it, but what I want to know is why it escalated?" Daniel's roommate flinched slightly, as Daniel himself sighed. "Look, I know you're excited about catgirls… But seriously? Raising your fists because someone said elves are better?"

Daniel's roommate shrunk into himself as he tried to look as tiny as possible. Sighing once again, Daniel glanced at the soldiers detaining his roommate before facepalming.

"James Paul Hartmann, you're free to go." All of a sudden, a soldier entered the tent with the keys to his cuffs in his hand. "You better thank your lucky stars that the man you had a fight with didn't press charges."

Daniel's roommate, now named James Paul, shrank into himself even more as he squeaked.

As this happened, Daniel could only facepalm even harder.

"Drake. I missed you."

Drake accepted the hug from the girl who had a crush on him. A bit awkward about the physical contact, Drake glided his hand across the girl's head.

"Maria… Right…?" The girl nodded as she buried her head on Drake's chest, trails of tears pouring down her cheeks as she held the man closer. "Sorry. It's been a long time since I last saw you. All of you."

"On the bright side, you're here and looking badass. Like, hot damn, you're older!" Their resident joker laughed as he patted Drake on the back. "How long has it been for you on the other side?"

"If you mean Praeccathae, then only two years." Drake admitted honestly with a grin, his hand still patting the head of Maria, who refused to let him go. "If you're talking about the combined time I've spent on different worlds, then it's probably a decade."

"You know, the more I hear about you like this, the more I think you're some kind of anime protagonist."

"Hey, I take offense to that!" Drake groaned as the nickname Jionni gave him found its way to the minds of his once closest friends during school.

The rest snorted at his denial, but otherwise were happy that their friend was back.
