8 First friends

Finally. My first pokemon battle, I can't help but smile.

Ash: Come on, Gary. Let me see if you inherited a little of talent from your family.

He frowns. Gary really dislikes being compared with others. But being the champion's grandson, and brother of one of the most talented pokemon coordinator in Kanto put some weight in your shoulders.

Let's see what the basic stats of Charmander and Squirtle looks like.

Attack: 52

Defense: 43

Sp.Atk: 60

Sp.Def: 50

Speed: 65

[Squirtle Lv.5]

HP: 44

Attack: 48

Defense: 65

Sp.Atk: 50

Sp.Def: 64

I don't really care about the special stat at this moment, after all, initial pokemon don't know stronger attacks. They just know how to Tackle or Scratch each other. A blank canvas that their trainers will help to paint.

At least, with this, I don't have to worry about Water-type attacks. The only problem is Squirtle's defense. If my assumptions about Charmander are correct, he has a weak attack stat. 47 instead of 52. My defense is also no good, I should not let Charmander get hit many times. He should take advantage of his speed. Almost 1.7 times Squirtle speed.

Gary: "Are you ready to lose? Squirtle! lets going end this quickly."

Ash: "Don't count on it. Charmander, go!"

I adjust my cap to hide my eyes before to use my aura to communicate with Charmander.

I'm using my aura to reinforce his confidence before the battle.

Charmander looked at me and then nod two times before turning back and seeing Squirtle.

Prof. Oak: Since this is the first pokemon battle of both of you, I will be the referee. I will stop the combat when I think that your pokemon cannot keep going.

Gary/Ash: I'm fine with that. / Sure.

Prof. Oak: All right. Start!

Ash: "Charmander, use Growl and then go forward!"

'Aaaaaarg!

Gary: "Don't back off, Squirtle. Attack Charmander with Bubbles."

'Squir?' Squirtle looked back with a confused glare. Gary realized that Squirtle doesn't know that move yet. Before he could do anything I take the chance.

Ash: "Charmander, use Scratch against Squirtle!"

Charmander was already close enough and attack Squirtle.

'Squiiiiirleee' Woaah that looks painful, maybe that is how it looks a critical attack.

Gary: "No! Squirtle! get up and use Tackle."

Ash: "Charmander, use your speed and dodge his attack and then keep attacking."

'Chaaaaar!' Charmander speeded up and move almost getting hit by Squirtle.

He attacks Squirtle but this time it was not critical.

Ash: "Charmander, go back."

Gary: "You are not going to escape! Squirtle, use Tackle again!"

I know this was coming. Charmander can't use his speed to dodge at close distance. Damn it he is going to get hit.

Ash: "Charmander, be ready to receive that hit, after that use Scratch again!"

Thank god Charmander use Grow at the start, that got rid of 1/3 of Squirtle strength.

Gary: Tch. That growl huh? Squirtle use Tail Whip and then Tackle.

I have to finish this, if Charmander gets another hit this would become troublesome.

Ash: Charmander, its time to finish the job. Use Scratch again.

Charmander started to run towards Squirtle. He got affected by Tail Whip.

'Charmandar, Chaaar!' Charmander got close enough and prepare his claws to use Scratch.

'Squirtleeee' Squirtle did use Tackle just at that time.

They hit at the same time. Charmander rolled in the ground but he stands up.

Squirtle on the other hand...

Prof. Oak: "Squirtle has fainted and can't continue. The winner is Ash."

Gary: "You did it well Squirtle, it's me who was too weak to help you." Gary lowered his head in shame while returning Squirtle to his pokeball.

Ash: "You won Charmander! You were really amazing out there buddy!"

'chaaaar' Charmander got shy at my words. He start to feel uncomfortable, he got close to me and hide behind me. I think that he will prefer to be on his pokeball.

Ash: "All right Charmander, come back." He is cute, I can't help but smile.

Prof. Oak: "We should come back to the lab, I have something to tell you."

We walked into the lab, Daisy was there with her Chansey, Seych. Even though she is good at pokemon battles, she doesn't really enjoy seeing them. Leaf was also there, it appears that she was discussing something with Bulbasaur.

'bulba! bulbasaur, bulba' He looks anxious, I wonder what she said to him. Leaf turn around to see that we have come back.

Leaf: Have you got fun with your little battle? She looked at us with a smile.

woah... I don't know if she is a kind of sadic or just dense. Is obvious that one of us lose the battle and his partner got hurt in the process. There is not fun in defeat.

Gary just keeps his head down and doesn't say anything.

Daisy: "How did it go their first battle?" She asked her Grandfather.

Prof.Oak: "There were no accidents, but Squirtle fainted. Can you help Gary with that?"

Daisy: "Of course. Come, Gary. Seych will it will leave Squirtle as it new."

They both walked away and return after a few minutes.

Once the three of us was ready, Prof. Oak walked to his desk. He looked back at us and take 3 devices from a drawer.

Prof. Oak: "These devices are my last invention. They are tools that I developed to finally fulfill my dream. It automatically records data on pokemon that you have seen or caught."

He gave us a Pokedex to each of us.

"This Pokedex are tools, they will help me to create an encyclopedia on all the pokemon in the world. That is my dream, but I am already too old to travel the world. That's why I want to ask you to fulfill my dream for me!" He looked serious but his eyes glitter with excitement.

"I'm going to explain to you how to use it, the first you need to do is ingress your data on it, and it would register you as pokemon trainer officially."

Ash: "Professor, can I use a pseudonym instead of my name?

Prof. Oak: "eh? I suppose you can. It would need a Photo ID, and will be enough proof that is you."

Sweet. Finally, I can start my plans. I started to type my new alias.

Red: "Its done," I said with a smile.

Prof. Oak: "Red? I know that you liked that color. Even so-"

Gary: "It sounds stupid" He doesn't even look at me while he keeps writing his name.

Leaf: "I think is cool."

Gary: "W-What!?"

I walked to Gary with a smile in my face, and tap his shoulder.

Red: "Wait a minute Gary. I think that I won our little bet. I really want to use the prize right now."

Gary paled once he remembers that lose our bet. Leaf looked intrigued at my words.

Gary: "What do you want?"

Red: "Not much... I want you to go with a pseudonym just like me. I want you to call yourself Blue." I said with a mischevious smile.

Prof. Oak: "I don't know what bet are you two talking about, but you don't really need to do it, Gary. After all, if you even grow to become the champion, it will be under your pseudonym."

Gary has a doubtful expression in his face. I faked disappointing.

Red: "So you deny to acknowledge your debt? I'm sure nice to get everything you want just by using the name of your family. I thought better of you, but it seems that I was wrong."

His face turns dark at my words.

Gary: "I don't need to do something like that. I'm going to surpass you and become the champion by my own strength!" He typed Blue as his name and confirm the registration.

'You really are easy to provoke...'

Blue realized what he does and grabbed his head while feeling stupid.

Leaf walked behind me and whisper something

'I saw what you do there. I feel we will get along very well'

I give her a smile. ' I don't know about that.'

She comes forward

Leaf: "This looks interesting, let me join." She then typed "Green" as her name.

Daisy let out a laugh at this, while Prof. Oak looks like having a headache. I'm sure that he is asking in his mind if we can complete the task he asked us.

Prof. Oak: All right then. I expect a lot of the three of you. Viridian city is just a couple days away from here by walking, take this pokeball in case you want to catch some pokemon in Route 1. Now go! Pokemon around the world wait for you!

I level up thanks to the experience from the previews battle, my stats have increased a little. I decided to test Charmander nature, I have some pokeblocks of each flavor that would be helpful at this.

Just like I thought. Charmander feel disgusted to the spicy ones but love the sweets. His nature is timid. While I did this, my [Pokemon Breeder] skill, level up and become Intermediate 1. Now I can create pokeblocks that improve or decrease my pokemon stats. I think that this refers to the EV. Even though I can't see them I still remember how it works. I cant battle every wild pokemon in my way just to increase an EV in particular but now I can use food to lower these EVs that I don't need.

My [Eye of the soul] skill also level up a lot after using it in battle, now has become an intermediate rank skill. I checked Charmander again.

Holy moly! His ability is Solar power! Also now I can see the actual stats, that is more useful that only see his potential.

Boosted LUK is totally broken, it obviously it works better with higher base LUK and if don't cloud my mind so much making me more stupid than usual it would be perfect. But if I can't think clearly then using it all time is not worth. I will not depend on LUK to win pokemon battles.

I am happy, my Charmander is really awesome. I decided to name it after Karna, the Son of the Sun God. I need to train him to use Solar Power only when he wants to.

Blue and Green have already leave Pallet Town, but I still have something to do. After I helped Prof. Oak to feed the pokemon one last time I make my way to the old warehouse. There are many old computers and other devices here.

He should be here...'

I'm currently looking for my 2nd partner. Let's see how good you hide your aura.

Red: "I know that you are still here. I thought that I have warned you about this happening."

I let Charmander out from his pokeball. And speak to him in a low voice.

Red: "Karna, a little Pikachu is hiding behind of that old computers. Go there and use Scratch on him."

He nods and runs forward.

'Charmandeeer!'

'Pika? Piiiikaaaaa!'

Pikachu got scared by the sudden attack and couldn't dodge it. It seems that is you can easily do critical attacks when your adversary is not paying attention.

Red: "You got it, use Scratch again!"

Pikachu fell on the floor after the second attack. I throw my pokeball at him, after a few seconds the ball stop moving.

Red: "Catch you! Good job Karna, you can come back now."

Daisy: "who is there!?"

Red: "Wait! It's me!" She looks scary when she is serious.

Daisy: "What are you doing Ash? or should I call you Red now?"

Red: "You can call me whatever you want." I said her with a roguish smile.

Daisy: "The noise from before, it was you? what happened?"

Red: "It was just me catching my second pokemon. He is kinda weak, can you heal it for me?"

Daisy: "Sure. Seych can do it."

After she heals him, Pikachu started to wake up.

He looks around don't knowing what happened, then he recognizes me and realized that was captured.

'Piika' he looks sad or disappointed of himself, I don't know really.

I lowered my self down to talk to him while showing off his pokeball on my hand.

Red: "Hello there Pikachu. I have caught you so you will be coming with me on my journey."

He keeps looking at his pokeball for a while without making a sound.

"I know that there are some pokemon that dislike rest in their pokeball. By how you look at this, it seems that is your case." I said while playing with the pokeball.

"Well, its time to leave. Thank you for your help Daisy." I started to walk away, then look back.

Red: "So, are you coming? If you don't like to be inside your pokeball I can lend you my shoulder for a while."

He looked at me a moment, then nod and run to my shoulder.

'Pika! Pika!'
