16 Chapter 16
It has been five months, everything went smoothly for the both of them, they became closer now. As usual, Andy was always busy with his works but seeing Lydia at the end of the day waiting for him at home takes away all the exhaustion from his day's work. She was his energy booster.
He have been thinking about his plan for a couple of days now. And he have already had his mind strongly made up. Lydia is perfect for him and he's not going to let the contract come between them. That's the best for the both of them.
"Hello?" Lydia's voice sounded so sweet as ever. He can't help but smile.
"Yes darling, we are going out tonight. I'll pick you up at seven." Andy told her trying not to sound too excited.
"Seven sounds good. Anything else?" She asked.
"No darling, just put your best dress on. See you later love." He didn't give her the chance to complain so he cut the call immediately.
She was staring at her phone. Andy just called to let her know about the dinner tonight. He sound really excited. Maybe he closed another business deal today. Who knows? So she have one problem left right now. What was she going to wear? She ran up the stairs to her room and checked her closet. It took her almost two hours to decide what to wear before she settled with the dark olive green Queen Anne V-neck line, it's a long sleeved dress with lavishly flared tulle skirt that would give me a shapely figure. And she picked the black peep toe pump to go along with it. She curled her hair and put a light make up on.
She heard Andy' car so she decided to go down the stairs to meet him at the front door. The front door opened and there he is looking as handsome as ever. He helped her and whispered. "You look beautiful tonight darling." Admiration is evident in his eyes. All she could utter is a simple 'thank you.' He led her to his car and the journey to wherever we were going was awfully silent. But she couldn't help but notice that their hands are entwined until they reached the fancy restaurant.
The restaurant are packed with guest. The waiter took us to our table and she couldn't help but notice that some people are checking them out. Andy gave her a re-assuring smile and helped her settle in her chair. She let him order for the both of them since he was the one behind all this.
"So, how was your day?" Lydia asked him to start a conversation. She noticed that he became uneasy. What is wrong with this man?
"Fine. It was fine darling." He smiled.
"Are you hiding something?" She can't help but asked. This was the first time he is acting this way. The mighty Andy of Parker Group of Companies. This is so unbelievable.
"No darling, how can you say that?" He answered sounding very defensive.
"It seems that you are different. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. Let's just let it pass." She was starting to feel nervous but she don't want to ruin this night.
We're almost done with our dessert when she noticed him became more uneasy. She looked at him with questions.
"I... I don't know how to say this. Heck, I don't even know how to start." Andy's now rambling. This is really unusual of him.
"Start what? Is there a problem?" She asked. She can feel her heart pounding so fast. From the looks of it, this man will drop the bomb any minute now.
"No darling, there's no problem. Just hear me out please..."
"Okay..." She nodded.
He looked at her straight in the eyes. "Darling, I know we started bad and I apologize for hurting you. I swear I regret every time I made you cry. But lately, things have turned out to be way different as I have envisioned it." Oh God, is he ending her contract? Is this their last night together? Tears are starting to pool in her eyes. She was trying her best to hold on and not to cry infront of him.
"Don't be upset love, just hear me out..." He said pleading and he then hold my hand. "As I have mentioned, things have turned out to be different as planned but I'm glad it did changed. Lydia Smith, let us end this contract for good but would you do me the honor of being my wife?" He fished a red velvet box from his pocket and when he opened it she couldn't help but gasped. "Darling, will you marry me?"
"Er... yes Andy. Of course." Now she's crying. She just couldn't believe it. She was now wearing his ring. This time it's not for a show. This is for real.
"I love you Lydia, darling." She was beyond stunned. Never in this lifetime have she thought hearing these words from him. He don't think he can bear it if she rejected him. He put the ring on her finger and it's fit perfectly. He hugged her so tight and kissed her forehead.
She was crying but she know that this time it's tears of joy. They were on each other's arms for a few minutes. They only broke out when they heard whistles and cheers from the other guests. He proudly held her hand wearing the engagement ring and shouted. "I am the happiest man alive." The crowds cheered once more and some even went to their table to congratulate them. They were just so happy.
"I love you darling. I will not stop saying this even if you're sick of it" He said while helping her settle in the car.
