14 Chapter 14
Finally taking time to look at the menu, Lydia ordered a Caesar Salad to start and then a turkey breast sandwich. Andy ordered a plate of shrimp and chips and bacon cheeseburger. They both stuck to Pepsi for drinks. The lady nodded politely and left to get their orders ready. The food arrived and they dug in.
Wendy came back with their desert orders.. Lydia with her chocolate mousse and he with a banana split. She took a greedy bite out of the bowl in front of her and moaned around the mouthful of oozy goodiness.
"This is heavenly. You have to try some." she scooped up another spoonful.
"I told you." He chuckled taking a bite of his own desert.
"So how long have you been coming here?" She asked distracted by the delicious goody.
"A very long time. I would usually tag along with my parents and Annie. This place used to be our treats when our parents are still around." He said sadly.
'It pretty amazing place but Annie..... I'm sorry.. I didn't know my father...." She said with blurry eyes. She dug back into her dessert aware that he was watching her intently. She didn't look up, knowing what he could see tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry too." He suddenly said. That snapped her attention back to him. "For all of it. For the way I acted before. I'm a jerk and I don't think Annie, in heaven would approved of me. Anyway, Its not your fault, I shouldn't have taken... but on the contrary I am glad I did." His expression somber and she could see the sincerity in his eyes.
Then he reached across the table and took her hand in his. "And about those rumors and to what it seemed like, there's nothing going on between Diana, Fenny or other girls and me and there never will be." He looked into her reddened eyes. He continued before she could speak, "Please believe me when I tell you that I want nothing to do with them."
'"Why not?" She whispered. That is a very stupid question Lydia, her inner mind chided.
He leaned back again and let go of her hand to scrape it down his face. "I don't even know. I've never felt like this with the other girls before." He groaned, still holding onto her hands. It was so unlike him to confessed. Lydia was actually almost stunned into a silence especially because of the words that accompanied it.
"Because I want you." He stated simply.
Can someone please pick her jaw off the floor. She could have sworn her heart skipped a beat. The conviction in his voice and his eyes stopped her short from asking him if he was serious.
"Then why didn't you tell me the truth?" It was probably not an appropriate question for it may burst her bubble, but she had to know.
Andy expelled a breath and leaned back, running his free hand through his hair as he looked out the window. But he didn't let go of her hand and for that she was thankful. When he looked back at her, there was a hint of vulnerability in his eyes. Her chest clenched at the sight.
"I like you. A lot.. No very much. And I'm very possessive of you. I know that it's not right and I shouldn't be feeling this way. But I just can't seem to help it." He voice was so low that it made his words so much more intimate. He moved forward and gently took her hand again, cradling in both of his. Her eyes widened at his admission. They were like a warm blanket around her and she felt her insides bubbling at his words. He likes me? A lot? Very much!
"I like you too and I don't when its started." She found herself saying. A small smile turned up on his lips. It wasn't arrogant or mocking, or else she would have inverted the glass of Pepsi on his head.
But it was a pleased smile. "I know."
Her eyes narrowed. "You know?"
He chuckled and softly brushed a finger down her reddened cheek. "I'm glad you did." He told her honestly.
She wanted to remain in the moment, stay there with the warmth she saw in his eyes, both of them smiling at each other. But a small voice nagged her.
"What now Andy?" She asked in a small voice.
"I want you to give me a chance." He replied. "We have something here. And maybe we didn't start in the conventional way, but I don't regret it. Not one bit and it doesn't mean we can't have something now..."
She shook her head as if clearing off his words. "I don't understand. You said I am only a mistress and you didn't want to be in relationship. Furthermore, I am here to pay my father's debt."
He smiled ruefully. "I never said I didn't want a relationship, just that I didn't do them. I don't know how to starts with you since I am the one forcing you. And the way, I treated you before cannot be forgiven. I know I haven't given you much to trust me but trust me when I tell you. I never really wanted to hurt you Lydia." He stated somberly.
"I do believe you because Annie was a very kind person so I guess it run in your blood too." She agreed knowing that he had really felt bad. "Nevertheless, its my father.... I really want to thank you too."
"All I ask is a little patience. Give me some times. I'm willing to try this, if it's with you. I have like you when you first came to our home with Annie. Since you were my sister best friend, I held back." He said.
Lydia felt her heart swell and then burst with his next words. "So, Lydia Smith, would you like to attempt to stay with me forever?" He smiled shyly.
Lydia chuckled at his admission but then realized he was still nervously waiting for her answer. She knew, she wanted this despite her all she had gone through before. "But being together takes a lots.... responsibility, unhappy past memories and.... Are you sure?" Her voice dropping lower as she progressed.
"Maybe we could sort that out now." He invited in the same low tone, again sending her heart into overload with a couple of words. He leaned forward and placed a finger under her chin to draw her close. His lips softly closed over hers for a moment in an affectionate peck. It was over before it even started leaving her longing for more. And he knew it.
Oh that evil little…
"Does it include bed scene?" He whispered. His lips brushing against hers enticingly. She had forgotten all about how they were in a diner in the afternoon.
'Yes.', she breathed in answer to both his questions and his lips claimed hers again.
