13 Chapter 13
As soon as they arrived at Andy's office, she knew something was up. The staff were huddled together talking, and didn't even move when they saw them coming. As they reached the floor to Andy's office, raising an eyebrow she could see Diana who was dressed in a full-length pink skirt with her delicate and natural make-up waiting for Andy. Diana, one of Andy's ex-girlfriend for six months and who had also worked three years for him in his foreign trade company. Rumors were rife in the company that she and Andy were intimately involved till now. Diana stood up and greeted them respectfully. They acknowledging the greeting with a nod.
As the staff continued their topic for the day, Diana took a deep breath and walks steady fowards toward him ignoring Lydia behind. To get close to one person, she will unconsciously want to be closer. That man should have strong gravitation, just like... just like her.
Diana came up to him giving him a bear hug. "Morning, I missed you honey. I need to report about the foreign investment....." She said. Andy was stunned by her hugs and pushed away. "And who's this... Why's she.... What's your relation...?" She asked unhappily, staring at her with their hands intertwined.
Andy looked at her expressionlessly, glaring back at Lydia. "Morning, I get back to you in a moment. Can you excuse us for now? I have something to dealt with." He replied few minutes shortly, putting his hand around Lydia's waist and walked away pulling her along. Diana clench her fists. She should be in his arms, hugged by him not her. Although, they have gone their separate ways, Diana still hold some feeling for him. How dare this b**ch....?
Lydia sensed it. Feelings definitely won't lie. Diana doesn't have that feeling for Andy. She is totally not attracted to him in terms of love but wealths and fame. Lydia herself has face blindness, but not heart blindness. If it isn't that kind of love affection... This is...
She walked beside him and saw the other staffs running around, documents and files in their hands and smiles on their faces. She kept her head up and met everyone's eyes. Everyone started to stares and whispers, asking who she was, what was she doing here..? She knew she was reeked of being one of Andy's new girlfriend and that is how she drew a lot of people's attention.
However, inside his office, he suddenly turned and hugged her. She looked up at him, surprised. "Lydia." He stared down at her, his eyes deep. "I just wanted to clarify something." She shifted nervously. "Diana and I are over, there was nothing between us now or in the future. I don't want you to get us wrong about today." Suddenly Andy said. "You are not just my mistress, you are my princess and future wife." Lydia stared at him stunned. She had not expected that at all. What did that even mean? His princess, future wife? Am I not only his mistress in contract?
He gently touched her check, brushing her few strands of hairs away from her eye. "You should get some sleep in the adjoining room if you're tired while I finished some works." He suggested pointing toward the room and kissed her forehead. Without waiting for her reply, he turned and left his room swiftly.
She sat there, shocked by what had just happened and a million of thoughts swarmed through her head. 'Andy Parker is a man who is blessed in many regards. Wealth, good looks, and the confidence to use his gifts however he pleases. He's a well known playboy in this city, going from one girl to the next. His reputation did not discourage women from flocking to him, but only increased their desire to be caught in his traps. He never felt lonely with his long contact list of girls' numbers. Now, at the age of thirty-two, Andy was still unmarried except that she was his mistress no one ever knew.'
"Lydia, wake up and pecks her lips." His voice low as she surfaced on consciousness. Still drowsy, she realized she must have fallen asleep because the next thing she remembered was Andy shaking her lightly. Unfortunately, she had momentarily forgotten that they were in his company. Looking around she realized she's still inside Andy's office. She remembered now she had fallen asleep while waiting for him to finished his works.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know I dozed off..." she wasn't sure why she was apologizing but her mouth worded on her own accord.
"It's alright now. I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have took so long but the foreign investment had a little problem.... Nevermind! Are you awake? You're okay. We need to go now, sweetheart." He pressed her forehead and basically any part he could reach. He took four hours and twenty minutes to finalised the whole meeting.
"I'm fine." She managed a wobbly smile. He broke out into a relived laugh and without even thinking, he placed a chaste kiss on her parted lips. He pulled back and placing another kiss of her forehead. He stood up and helped her up from the bed and headed out from the adjoining room.
An hour later, they both walked out of the company and got into Andy's car. They drove and found the place where the lone diner once stood but now it has a mini arcade next to it. Andy and Lydia had taken one look at each other and then practically made a run for it. So it was a little off from their original plan but hey, it was a beautiful afternoon. So why not enjoy it. The arcade was rather small but its geographical positioning didn't bring a lot of customers, which meant that the pair practically had the entire place to themselves but then that moment didn't last long.
It was the best time Lydia had. Who would have thought that she would be playing bumper cars with Andy in the middle of nowhere? They raced on the race cars and played the hoops where Andy got thrashed by a nine year old. She had never seen Andy so carefree before. In fact, she had never felt so carefree too even if only for a short while.
It was dinner time and they made their way to 'Shine's Diner' with rumbling stomachs. It was a quaint little place that screamed homemade food and comfortable atmosphere. They found a table near the window by the corner.
"I'm telling you that kid cheated." Andy shook his head smiling.
"Sore loser aren't you?" She teased sinking into the red seat while he slipped in the other side.
"I cannot lose four times in a row. It's just not possible." He said.
"Aww- I think you just need to admit that you got outplayed by nine year old kid." She replied. "Furthermore, it's got a nice ring to it, don't you think?" She raised a brow.
A plump middle aged woman in a pink checkered waitress uniform came to a stop beside their table with a small notepad in hand. "Welcome to Shine's Diner. My name is Wendy. What can I get you for you two today?" she asked warmly.
