13 Resistance

Rais didn't know how long it would take him to find out about his qi nature, but he knew he first needed to open primordial qi domain. Then he had to locate his elemental core within the domain. It would take him months to open his qi domain and to locate his elemental core. As for learning fire magic, it depended on how fast he would build up mana within his body.

"The batter control I have over mana the easier it will for me."

As his thoughts became separated from the transparent life crystal on his hand, his body started hurting more and more. He struggled to sit down from exhaustion. He lost focus and the mana stored within his body started attacking him.

"Focus on the and circulating mana within your body from right to left-hand side. Keep going until you have all the elemental stones to the center and keep them with you. Also, don't think of the life crystal as the center of the diagram. Think of yourself as the center of the diagram controlling every movement within it."

"Will the mana attack me every time I don't circulate it from right to left?"

"When you become used to it, you will not even think about it. Also even if it attacks you, it will only hurt slightly but it won't bear you any physical harm to you like true qi."

Rais focused on circulating mana within his body and matched the natural flow around life crystal. He kept at it until the natural flow was around him and not the crystal.

He felt the transparent nature crystal was circulating within his grip. The jade wind stone was moving at a straight line to the center. At that moment he saw blue lightning stone making ellipse around him to the other side of the diagram where a black metal crystal was placed. He was confused at first but after major circulation of a clock, he could see the movement patterns.

The red fire, jade wind, khaki earth, aqua water stone traveled in a straight path towards him making a cross sign within the circular magic diagram. The black metal and the yellow lightning stone ellipse around him to the opposite side. It looked like an eye with the transparent life crystal in the center. When both the stone reached the other side, it came straight down towards Rais.

The purple dark stone and gold light stone made a diamond shape when they swapped places. Then it also came down in a straight path when they reached the opposite side.

Rais became bewildered by their moving patterns. He looked towards Anila for an answer.

"Very good, you almost completed the primary magic elemental field."

"So this is what it looks like."

"This the most basic form of the elemental field. The size is inaccurate, but the travel pattern is accurate. The real magic elemental field is way larger and it does not have to be contained within the circular diagram. The light, dark, metal and lightning have a much bigger moving pattern. It is like a large four-pointed star on top of the smaller pointed star."

Rais got the picture of the primary elemental field.

"Eventually, you will create an elemental field within your primordial qi domain."

"So I am practicing for the real thing."

Rais looked at the elemental stones. Rais now had all nine of the stone with him. "what do I do with these?"

"Try placing them back where they were before."

Rais turned his head towards Anila "No hands?"

"No hands" Anila cleared the confusion of Rais.

Rais placed the elemental stone around the life crystal. It looked like a flower with various colored petals. Rais tried to push the stones away from the center. The stones followed the same movement pattern even when they wear being pushed away. Rais saw when he pushed the stones with mana the stone wear moving at a different pace from before. He had the easiest time pushing away aqua water stone and purple dark elemental stone. It was followed by red fire and jade wind stone and then all the other stones.

"Does this indicate the resistance I have towards certain elemental attributes?"

"Not bad, it always good to have more resistance than harmony for the attributes"

Rais slowly pushed the stone as his mom instructed him about what he would do for the next three months. She carefully instructed him about what his next task would be. Rais attentively listened to his mom.

Without realizing Rais controlled mana and listen to his mom. He tilted his head to help him see through the narrow opening on his eye. He was extremely tired. He wanted to sleep right then and there but kept his focus as the stones made it to the outer ring of the diagram to their previous place.

"You are done for the day, hold on to the life crystal and only focus on it. Try absorbing mana from it and speed up the absorption gradually."

Rais closed his eyes to focus on the crystal and absorb the mana at a faster pace.

Anila stood up and waited for a five circulation of a clock. "Keep holding the crystal with your left hand and stand up. Open your eyes focus on the elemental stones and be prepared."

She walked closer to the diagram and place one of her hand on the diagram. All the lines on the diagram lit up and runes circulated around the diagram. All the stones started floating around Rais with dazzling lights. The span around him at a very fast speed. It became a hemisphere of dazzling lights.

"Try catching the fire stone with your other hand."

The hemisphere became slightly smaller and all the stone launched at Rais at the same time and merged with his body. An explosion of fire spread around the yard. A blue flame burned intensely and became deep blue colored. It altered colors as it burned intensely. It became ablaze and started making a harsh sound. All three house burned within flames and all the trees also became engulfed in flames. The ground also became a sea of flame and all flowers in the meadow also burned along with the ground.

Anila stood there without any concern and watched Mr. Flame Berserker fly away into the forest with flames on its body. Anila extended her hand and put the flames out instantly. It looked like there was no fire to start with. Everything was being protected by a thin mana coating. The mana gradually merged with the surrounding again. Rais shirt was almost completely destroyed. He looked all fried up charcoal laying silently on the ground. The only flame that remained in the on Rais' palm and there was also the same diagram from the ground. The diagram, in addition, had a small fire rune in the middle. If Rais had seen this, he would have been extremely joyous but he laid on the ground unconscious.

The charcoal-like coating around Rais also slowly dissipated. His body had not suffered any other damage.

"I should have made him take a shower before making him manipulate the diagram, and he also can't play with his friends anymore. It is possible, I was rushing him too much."

Dinna grandmother walked out of the house to check on the sound she heard a little while ago. She leisurely walked across the yard, but she was having a hard time as she got closer to Anila.

Anila looked down saw there was still a large chunk of life crystal on the ground. She picked it up and crushed it into powder.

Dinna grandmother stopped straggling and stood next to Rais to check on him.

She became mad at Anila and pointed her finger at her "Little Angel you can't make him approach the life crystal. Look what you did to our little Rais. Even my old bone can't get near it."

"Don't worry little aunt he is tough like uncle."

"If he was tough, he wouldn't be laying in bed at sixty" She became furious seeing Anilas nonchalant manner.

"How about you tell Rais some stories when he wakes up."

Grandma stopped for a moment.

"He really likes your stories" Anila had a smile on her face.

"He doses like my stories. I will tell him about the witch and the forest."

Anila only nodded and picked up Rais and walked in the house. She placed him on the bed with all the blood and dust covering his body. She became thoroughly impressed with her son. The excitement could be seen on her face.

She covered him with a soft blanket. She placed her hand on his forehead and started circulating mana. She created a defensive array covering half of the house. She walked out of the array and gathered a tremendous amount of mana and crystallized the interior of the array within a blink.

"It will take little time before he wakes up but when he does wake up his body should be much more familiar with mana." she thought as she crystallized the barrier.

She slowly walked away and reached the door, but she heard a noise. Her heart started to thump and coldness ran through her veins. She became scared as she saw her son move his hand in solidified mana. An ominous fleeing ran through her body as Rais extended his hand and tried to grab on to the air. The crystal made a cracking sound as spider web-like crack spread around the crystal.

"How is it possible move within crystal when someone is unconscious."

She didn't have this much confidence in her own mana resistance. She calmed down a little as she didn't see Rais make anymore movement."He peacefully laid on the bed as Anila came out the door.

Rais underwent a similar experience as he had twenty nights earlier. He laid in an empty world staring at the hazy sky. This time he wanted to reach for the sky and crush it but he couldn't move his hand. He gathered all of his willpower but it ended in a failure. He underwent similar experiences one after other. He also hard someone say sorry to again. The sole difference was for the first time, not even a slight bit of curse, had activated when he experienced the dreams.
