32 Another Eevee

"How old are you young one?" Gerald asked Maze.

"... I'm 21 next month." Maze quietly answered.

"Wataru sure lucked out with two talented grandchildren." Gerald said, talking about Lance and Maze. "But you both will be surpassed by Daikon in the future." he added smugly.

Rolling his eyes, Daikon ignored him. "So are we cousins or something?"

"No. Wataru was from a branch family from the Long clan, not ours. You two can date if you want." Gerald said with a teasing look.

Though Daikon's face remained unchanged but the tips of his ears were a tad redder. Maze frosty appearance didn't change but she glared at Gerald with hatred.

Daikon stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to say next.

"Well if that is all, time for me to leave." Maze said, turning around and heading away. Gerald and Daikon watched her go, not stopping her.

"She is strong, you better train hard if you want to compete against her in the future." Gerald smiled at him.

Daikon nodded, agreeing with him. He witnessed her Kingdra defeating Misty's Starmie with brute strength.

"Daikon?"

A voice came from behind him. Turning around he saw Daisy and Misty walking through the door. Daisy still looked beautiful in a white tank top and jeans shorts, her hair was tied up in a messy bun with her bright red lips.

"Hey you two. I actually came by just to ask where the Fontaine's house is." Daikon asked sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head and avoiding Daisy's intense stare.

Feeling the awkward atmosphere, Misty cleared her throat and said, "Follow me. I will lead you there." Taking the lead she lead them down a street. Gerald and Daisy followed Misty as well. Gerald had a knowing smile on his face as he looked at Daisy staring at Daikon.

'Lady killer… just like his old grandpa.'

Arriving in the less wealthy part of the city, Misty guided them to a small house with faded white paint that was peeling in some parts. Daikon walked up to the door and knocked. Daikon could hear footsteps approaching the other side of the door. Jane, the mother opened the door and wore a surprised expression on her face when she saw who it was.

"Daikon! What are you doing here!?"

"I have come to say hello to you and Jo. Is she home?" Daikon smiling kindly.

"Yes. Please come in." Jane looked behind Daikon and saw the sisters and his grandfather standing there. "Please excuse my poor manners. Would you like to come in?"

"We will let you catch up Jane, we will stay out here." Misty said with a smile.

Gerald nodded in agreement.

Daisy looked a little unwilling but didn't go against what Misty said.

Daikon entered the worn house and walked into a small living room with faded cloth couches, Jane offered him a seat. Taking it, Daikon looked around her saw many pictures of Jo and a couple of drawings by her that her mother must have framed. Jane left to get Jo and make him a cup of tea.

Daikon heard running footsteps and saw Jo sliding around the corner.

"Big brother!" she exclaimed loudly, running into his arms.

Daikon dropped to one knee and gave her a hug. "Hahaha you have grown so much since I last seen you."

Breaking out of his embrace, she looked at him with wide eyes. "Why are you back big brother?"

"To see you of course. Plus I have a present for you." Daikon said mischievously.

"For me?" she asked excitedly.

Jane walked in from the kitchen with a cup of tea for Daikon. Placing it on the small table in front of him she said, "You have given us so much. We wouldn't dream of accepting anything more from you."

Jo's excitement died down hearing her mom but she also knew her mom was right.

"It is something small Jane." Daikon said with a smile and took out a pokeball. He handed it to Jo, "This is for you."

Jo stared at the pokeball with wide eyes as she gently rubbed the pokeball. A flash of light and a small brown pokemon appeared in the small living room.

"Eeevee!"

Jo mouth was wide open as she stared at the cute pokemon. She turned slowly to Daikon. "Big brother is this for me..?" she asked slowly, still a little stunned.

"Yes. This Eevee is for you." he said gently, rubbing her head.

Jo turned back towards Eevee and slowly reached her hand out and rubbed her head. Eevee stared at her at first but leaned into her and gave a happy cry. Jo seemed ecstatic that Eevee like her and began to play with her. Daikon took out a large bag of food for Eevee and gave it to Jane.

"This should feed Eevee for a long time."

"Thank you Daikon. This is the best gift for Jo." she said while smiling at her daughter playing with the Eevee.

Daikon drank his tea as he watched Jo play with Eevee and talked to Jane.

"Big brother, will my Eevee evolve into an Espeon like yours?" Jo asked holding Eevee in her arms.

"That's the amazing thing about Eevee's, they can evolve into 8 different pokemon, and that's only what we know of." Daikon explained.

"8!?" she said in awe, looking down at Eevee.

"Of course, it is up to your Eevee. Maybe Eevee wants to stay an Eevee?"

Jo looked down at the Eevee in her arms and rubbed her face on Eevee's fur. "I would be okay with that."

After talking a little while longer, Daikon said his goodbyes. "This Eevee is part of your family now so treat her right, okay?"

Jo nodded her head furiously, "I will big brother!"

Daikon rubbed her head once more and left the mother and daughter pair.

Walking outside, Daikon said that only his grandfather was waiting for him. He expected that, as Misty was Gym leader of the Cerulean Gym and would be busy.

"Can we go now?" Gerald asked, shortly.

Daikon smiled at his short tempered grandfather. "Yes, let's go home."

---

"You didn't want to say goodbye to him?" Misty asked the distracted Daisy.

Letting out a sigh, Daisy said, "When I first met him I thought he was a talented but weak trainer that didn't have any background. Little did I know he could fight an Aura Master and had Professor Oak and his mysterious grandfather supporting him." Daisy gave a self mocking laugh. "I thought he was being an arrogant brat when he said you we being weak with Jared but I see now that he wasn't."

Misty walked up to her older sister and patted her back. "You shouldn't give up. He is young, maybe he is into cougars." Misty teased.

"Who are you calling a cougar!" Daisy said in anger swatting her sisters hand away.

Misty laughed and continued to tease her.
