23 Two New Partners
The media swarmed Daikon as he left the courthouse but Professor Oak shielded him and got him onto a car quickly.
"The League will be sending you a gift for compensation soon. Anything you want in particular?" he asked Daikon.
"A gift?"
"Most likely a rare pokemon or even some money. Considering you are a trainer they will most likely send a pokemon." Professor Oak explained.
Daikon's eyebrows scrunched together as pondered what pokemon he wanted.
"Will they also be compensating the Fontaines?" Daikon asked.
"Yes. They will be given money so they can live comfortably." Professor Oak send with a smile.
Daikon nodded his head with relief. "I would like a flying pokemon, something that can carry me around. Doesn't need to be strong but something that I can raise." Daikon said after some thought. He wanted to be able to travel back home to see his mom and travel around Kanto quicker.
Professor Oak nodded his headed, pondering his words before giving a bright smile. "I might have a pokemon for you. I could help restrain that grandfather of yours as well." Professor Oak said mysteriously to Daikon.
They arrived at the pokemon center and quickly went inside, avoiding the media again. A tv was playing in the lobby and it was talking about the case.
"15 year old, Daikon Klein, testified in court today against Jared Hyet. The young pokemon trainer was said to be critically injured protecting a nine year old girl from Jared Hyet attack but somehow survived. One of his doctors had this to say. 'It was truly a miracle that he survived. When we first saw his injuries we were surprised he was dead already.' Another source from the pokemon center said not only was Daikon injured but also his pokemon." the tv reporter said, a video of Daikon leaving the courtroom with Professor Oak beside him.
Daikon paled and turned to the professor. "This isn't going to be broadcasted everywhere is it?" a tremor ran through his voice.
Right when he was going to answer, Daikon's pokedex started ringing. Looking down he saw that the call came from his mother. Daikon turned to the professor, hoping for some help but only saw his back as he walked out of the pokemon center.
"TRAITOR!" Daikon yelled at his receding figure.
With a shaking hand, Daikon accepted the call.
"Hey mom. How are you?"
"DAIKON KLEIN! YOU DARE-!" the next ten minutes Daikon got smaller and smaller as his mother's voice got louder and louder, drawing eyes in the pokemon center.
Not having any face left, Daikon headed to his room as his mother continued to yell at him.
Finally taking a breath, Kate stopped yelling and glared at him.
"I'm sorry mom but I couldn't abandoned her." Daikon said in a small voice.
"You are too weak and too young to be saving any damsel's you idiot." his mom said, still angry with him.
Daikon nodded his head. "Grandpa said the same thing."
Hearing this, Kate's face softened. "You met him I see. What do you think of him?"
"We only spent a couple of minutes together, in which he yelled at me like you but I can tell he cares for me. He is training me after I heal fully." Daikon said nonchalantly.
Kate smiled when she heard this. "Prepare yourself. It will be tough." she warned.
Daikon didn't take her warning seriously and continued to converse with his mother, telling her that Espeon was healed while Quilava still had some injuries. Finally the call ended and Daikon released his pokemon and crawled into bed, his pokemon all sleeping next to him.
The next week went by fast, Daikon did daily check ups with the doctors, leaving them astounded at his recovery rate. The pokemon center had finally cleared Quilava from his injuries as well.
Daikon hadn't seen his grandfather since their first encounter at the hospital but he left a note that he would pick him up at the end of the month for training.
Outside the pokemon center, he was practicing his swordsmanship. Feeling good about returning to his rhythm, Daikon wiped the sweat from his face with a towel and saw Espeon sleeping in the sunlight.
"Let's go you lazy thing." Daikon said to Espeon who simply purred and followed him into the pokemon center.
He was surprised to see Professor Oak standing there with a man Daikon hadn't met before.
"Daikon my boy. How are you?"
"Healed, finally. Ready to leave this place." Daikon said, a little anxious. He was tired of staying in the same place for so long.
"Well you should be able to leave shortly." Professor Oak chuckled before introducing him, "This is Mason Annet from the Pokemon League. He is here to give you your pokemon."
"Hello Daikon. It is an honor to meet you." Mason said, shaking his hand.
"Pleasures mine." Daikon said politely.
"Though the Pokemon League was originally against giving you this pokemon but thanks to the 'persuasion' of Professor Oak," he shot an annoyed look towards the professor, "we decided to give you this pokemon."
Mason took out a pokeball from his pocket and after a flash of light a pokemon appeared.
A white, avian Pokémon with an ovoid body appeared. While its feet were small and situated closely together, its wings are broad and triangular. Red and blue triangular markings over its underside, and it has a short tail consisting of three feathers. On the back of its head are three spikes: a red-tipped one on the right, a blue-tipped one on the left, and a pure white one in the middle.
[Togekiss the jubilee pokemon. As everyone knows, it visits peaceful regions, bringing them gifts of kindness and sweet blessings.]
"The League found this pokemon when they raided an illegal shipment of pokemon from Sinnoh. It is a very powerful pokemon so some people didn't think it was a smart choice but I guess we will see." Mason said, looking at the professor.
Professor Oak ignored the man's jabs and looked at Daikon and the Togekiss. The two of them had locked eyes and hadn't moved. After a few minutes, Togekiss approached Daikon and nudged his hand. Daikon released a breath, gently petting Togekiss, feeling its soft feathers.
Professor Oak also let out a held in breath, Togekiss was a powerful pokemon that didn't accept trainers with evil or dark hearts and he was worried that Togekiss wouldn't accept Daikon.
Mason curled his lips, not happy with the outcome. "I will take my leave now, professor." he said as he left the pokemon center.
Professor Oak watched the man leave, shaking his head slightly.
Daikon didn't give any attention to Mason leaving and continued to pet Togekiss.
The pokemon stood around 1.6m tall, with a large wingspan that was over double that.
"Do you want to join me?" Daikon asked the Togekiss.
"Tooo Too"
Togekiss cooed as it nodded its head.
Petting its head one more time, Daikon tapped the pokeball and registered it to his pokedex.

'Wow, such strong moves.' Daikon said surprised. 'Another female I see, I wonder how that will affect the others.'
"I am sure you know this but Togekiss is a Fairy/Flying type pokemon so that grandfather of yours won't be able to bully you with all his dragon types." Professor Oak said with a smile.
"Hmph! Mere fairy type is nothing compared to a dragon." a cold voice rang out. Turning around, Daikon saw his grandpa walking into the pokemon center wearing all black.
Gerald looked over Togekiss and gave a small snort, "At least it is powerful." he said grudgingly, he then took out a pokeball and gave it to Daikon. "I can't lose to some old fogey who spends all his time in a lab now can I. Besides I am your grandfather." he explained as Daikon looked at him confused.
A pokemon that Daikon had only seen in pictures appeared before him. It had a small head with two yellow antennae and green bulging eyes with black oval-shaped pupils. Its mouth has two large white teeth protruding from each side. It has a skinny yellow body, four skinny black legs with slender feet, and four green, rhombus-shaped wings with black edges. There are similarly-colored rhombus shapes at the end of its tail.
What was different with this Vibrava was that it had a large scar running down its body.
"This Vibrava's family was wiped out by a Salamence. I found it half dead in the desert before saving him. He is a fighter that will make for a great partner for you." Gerald said with a smile as he rubbed Vibrava's head. "This is your trainer from now on Vibrava. Daikon send your energy into Vibrava's body."
Daikon listened to his grandfather and sent his black coloured energy into Vibrava's body. The pokemon shivered in delight and a black glow came from its body.
In Daikon's mind a link was formed beside his link with Dratini, the former link seemed to be weaker but still strong.
Vibrava's emotions and memories came swirling into his mind. He saw a happy family of Flygon's lovingly raising their young, then he saw two large and powerful Salamence slaughter the family. The strongest Flygon sacrificed itself to allowing Vibrava to escape. In an instant, the two of them became very close as they shared memories.
The scar on Vibrava's body had disappeared and was replaced with a black line running up its body.
Professor Oak's mouth dropped in shock as Gerald smiled smugly.
"This is the power of our bloodline, we are able to bond with dragon pokemon. We were the first pokemon trainers in the world because of our special bond with dragon pokemon. Dragon pokemon and the Draconid people are able to strengthen each other through this bond." Gerald said with a hint of superiority.
