182 The Sharpened Doub

In a fine house in the city of ShangHai, a shadow of a man could be seen going through a box with one hand. His hand had traces of blood on it as he searched for some gauze to close up his wounds.

The gunshot was not on any important parts of his shoulders; it had missed the important veins. He lived alone and his parents were both not with him, so he had long been used to doing everything alone. Lin Cheng was almost done patching up his wound when the bell at his gate rang.

That must be his boss…

A black smart car stopped in front of a fine-looking house. Although the house was not as big as the Feng family's mansion, it was not bad looking either. Jun Kai swiftly got out from his car and rang the bell.

However, the gate that should have been locked was left open. Jun Kai's brows furrowed; it was never left open like this. Despite the growing concerns in his heart, he decided to wait for a couple of minutes.

A few minutes had passed, but there was still no answer from the owner. The concern in Jun Kai's heart finally grew on him. He looked up to the windows but saw no lights, to be more exact, there were no lights in the entire house. Damn it. He should have known.

Immediately, he threw the gate open and went up the stairs. Jun Kai looked behind him and gave a signal to the darkness behind him before barging inside his confidant's house. He had been in Lin Cheng's house before and headed straight to Lin Cheng's room. Though the house was entirely dark, Jun Kai's eyes had adjusted to the darkness.

By now, Fu Li had already flown inside the house from the windows and did a head check of any dangers for his boss but there were no signs. He went to Lin Cheng's room and as he opened the door, he saw his fellow brother in arm laid on the floor, unconscious.

Jun Kai had come in the room just in time before Fu Li picked up Lin Cheng and rested his friend's back beside the wall.

"How is he?" Jun Kai asked in a hurry while one of his hands was on his waist and his chest that was breathing hard from rushing in.

Fu Li placed two fingers on Lin Cheng's neck and checked his friend's breathing, but there were no other signs of any injuries, except from the gunshot that had already been taken care of. He looked up to his boss and shook his head, "Nothing, sir. Maybe he just fainted from the injury."

Jun Kai felt like there was something wrong, so he went over towards his confidant. As he kneeled to check for himself, suddenly Lin Cheng's hand grabbed Jun Kai's arm firmly. The grip on Jun Kai's arm was so tight that his brows knitted closely. What on earth?

Not long after, Lin Cheng's eyes popped open and a hissing voice came from his mouth. Jun Kai turned to look at Lin Cheng's face and was stunned. Where the two black iris part of Lin Cheng's eyes should be, it was gone. His eyes were both pale white with only the small pupil part of his eyes were visible.

Lin Cheng's lips were lifted up crookedly and an evil smile that was never seen before was placed on his face. He looked frantically at Jun Kai, before laughing a burst of horrid laughter.

Nevertheless, Jun Kai's expression did not change. He placed his other hand on Lin Cheng's good shoulder and grabbed onto it tightly, "Lin Cheng!" He called out in hopes that his confidant would wake up. What sorcery was this!?

"Haha, Jun Kai ah." A voice that did not belong to Lin Cheng came through Lin Cheng's lips, "My apologies for using your confidant to speak to you, boy."

Jun Kai's face turned deadly serious. This voice. He could remember it by heart; it belonged to none other than that clad in purple.

"Now, listen. Mi Rong has your mother in her hands and that dog of hers is guarding your mother very well indeed."

"Liar!" Jun Kai gritted his teeth in a fit of anger.

"Oh, I'm not lying. See the picture for yourself," Lin Cheng's eyes pointed at a picture on the floor beside him.

Jun Kai's hand swiftly picked it up. When he saw what was in the picture, his hands shook slightly. It was just like what Lin Cheng had described to him; his mother that was with Xiao Bai.

"I presume Mi Rong might have her reasons, but, isn't she still the cause for your mother who left you? Maybe it was she who persuaded your mother to leave you…" The voice that came out from Lin Cheng was speaking to Jun Kai as if it was talking about the weather and not some serious matter.

"If it was like so, then it's undeniable that she is the very cause of your mother's disappearance," Lin Cheng smiled devilishly, "Well, I must be off now, or else...this body would just rot into a pile of mushy meat. If you don't believe me, think of the person she's been calling so often, who was it again? Her so-called aunty? Ask her yourself if you dare...hahaha" Then poof, like a switch, Lin Cheng's eyes became shut and all his limbs became soft instantly.

The voice was gone and Lin Cheng became deadly quiet.

However, Jun Kai's face was ashen. He weakly sat down on the floor as his brain tried to process the information he had received. He closed his eyes as he recalled.

Her aunty? Was her mother all this time?

He thought of all the time she had been on the phone and how she had explained briefly who her aunty was. What did she say again?

Ah, she said…

"Aunty has some problems with her father and I just lent her a helping hand for aunty to have some time for herself." Mi Rong's voice rang in his head.

At that time, he had asked her if her aunty had any children, "Does your aunty have any children?"

"Yeah, she said she had a son, but I don't think her son is any better than his father. I sometimes wonder to myself, why aunty's son has not helped aunty all this time and left her to choose this way."

A realization came to his face so that was why he felt a sense of familiarity with this story when Mi Rong had spoken this to him. Slowly Jun Kai's eyes opened. He chuckled at himself. What a fool he was…

Even the women he liked said he was incompetent, ha!? What a joke.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

Slowly he got up shakily. Fu Li who stood behind his boss became worried for his boss. He had never once seen this side of his boss.

It was not a blow that affected the physical body, but the mind that had taken this blow, Fu Li thought to himself.

Jun Kai got up and without a chance for Fu Li to intervene, his knuckles had punched into the wall. His hands were sunk inside the wall as if it was just a piece of wood.

It did not take long before, blood began to drip from his hands onto his arms. Fu Li quickly went to his boss' aid but was only shoved back. He feared the worst might come and quickly pressed his boss' acupuncture points and instantly Jun Kai fell into slumber with traces of a foreseen nightmare written on his face.

Now, Fu Li was left with two people unconscious in the room. Sigh, he could imagine Lin Cheng's face when that guy wakes up and sees his room needs repairing. Even more, that guy would not be able to make a fuss about it since it was his boss that had wrecked up his wall like it was a piece of cake.

On the other side of the city

A clad in purple was holding onto his heart tightly. That soul merging technique had drained all his strength. Mingling with a soul was harder than before when he had been in his prime.

Wan Hei who had been hovering above the clad in purple quickly came to his master's side, "Master are you alright?"

"Cough cough, I'm fine." Despite saying he was fine, he had coughed out blood and it was dripping from his mouth as he answered his confidant.

However, he did not care about it and even looked like he was savouring this moment from the look of those sparkling eyes in the night. He could not help but think of a dearest person to his heart, "Mi Rong ah, I had made a great choice to tackle the doubt that you had not cleared yourself to that boy. Since the beginning, you had kept your true identity away from this boy."

The clad in purple had remembered those heartbroken eyes from Jun Kai just a moment ago and could not help but chuckle, "Tut tut, you did not take away this doubt in Jun Kai but left it for me to use it to my advantage. Well, I shall count this as your present to me and I shall use this well, haha."
