181 A Blow

On a king-sized bed, a lady was sleeping peacefully. Upon a closer look, the bedsheets beside her were all creased up. There were only signs of another person, but the person was not seen. Nevertheless, the lady was in a deep deep sleep.

In the outer part of the bedroom, there stood the owner of the room. Jun Kai was standing beside the window with one hand on his phone and the other in his pockets. He was in a dark blue satin pajamas and his hair was left undone. 

He had just gotten out of bed to answer the call from Lin Cheng. Though he was in his casual wear, his face was grim. The two boss and confidant were in a serious talk.

"Sir, we believe we would be able to take down the culprit's last headquarters within next month. The Xuan group and our Ke group will need to recover and prepare for the last attack. We believe this one would need a tremendous amount of force than the last two times."

"That's fine, as long as the culprit's force is taken down, we can move to our last step." 

"Yes, sir. Boss," Lin Cheng trailed off with some hesitations before speaking again, "What about miss Mi Rong, have you told her yet?" It was no secret between Jun Kai and Lin Cheng that his boss was finally seeing miss Mi Rong, but his boss last steep might cause a rift between the two if miss Mi Rong were to find out. 

"No, I don't want her to be involved with this.  I want her safe here, besides its just an act; it'll be done once the whole world knows of who was behind all of it."

"I understand, sir." Lin Cheng then proceeded with the next report, "Boss' engagement with miss Xue Li has been set up for next month by Mr Li Jian and Mr Chen Min and the invitations will be sent out by next week. Is there anything you would like to change, sir?"

Jun Kai did not put much importance to this piece of news and merely replied, "Let those two old fox deal with it. I'll just need her blood and use it to call the culprit to me. We just need to take the culprit's force down before he endangers any innocent citizens."

"Ye…" Bang! A gunshot was heard through the line, followed by Lin Cheng's voice that was in pain.

"Lin Cheng!?" Jun Kai's grip on his phone became tighter as he listened to what was going on through the line. His chest heaved a sigh of relief when Lin Cheng replied back,

Lin Cheng gritted his next few words, "I'm alright, boss. Just a shot on the shoulder." Lin Cheng peaked out from the window but saw no signs of anybody else. He was now crouched underneath his window, holding onto his injured shoulder with his good hand to stop the blood and maintaining his phone with his head. 

He was breathing heavily on the phone and just as he was going to end the call, there was a piece of paper that had not been lying on the floor before but was now there ready for him to pick it up. Lin Cheng quickly reached out for the paper with his good arm and opened it to read. 

The contents in the paper left him shocked, his voice tightened as he spoke through the phone, "Boss," Lin Cheng took a deep breath, "There's a paper addressed to you sir, it must have come from the shot."

One of Jun Kai's brow was lifted up slightly, "Go on." He spoke coldly.

"It seems to be about your mother, sir." Lin Cheng began speaking.

By now, Jun Kai was all ears and was fully alert, "What about my mother?"

"Sir, it says, 

------Jun Kai ah, Jun Kai. All blinded by love. I hope this picture might open your eyes, boy. The Mi Rong you know, might not be the same Mi Rong that I know. Look at who she has been keeping away from you. I wonder if you see this, you might come to realize that what a lovely and perfect spy she is…."

"What's in the picture?" Jun Kai demanded quickly.

Lin Cheng hastily took out the picture and reported seriously, "Sir, it's a picture of Lady Ru Yin and...and miss Mi Rong's dog…"

Jun Kai did not want to believe it, "How sure are you?" It might just be some other dog that looked alike.

"Sir, those distinctive blue eyes are just the same. It's definitely Xiao Bai, sir."

It was like a blow in Jun Kai's head. What...what did this mean!? Subconsciously, the hand that was holding onto his phone shook slightly. He tiredly closed his eyes. It took him a long time before he could find his voice again, "Lin Cheng, stay there. By that, Jun Kai went inside his changing room and changed into a suit to go outside. His steps halted as he was about to walk out from his room. He could not help but turn to look in the direction of the other person that was probably sleeping, oblivious of what was going on.

For now, he did not want to believe it. This matter would need to be checked personally. It could just be a play that the culprit wants and the culprit's intentions were less likely to be helping him out. 

Before he left, he whistled a sound familiar tune to his mouth. Soon, two black figures appeared inside his room from the windows. The two came in and knelt to receive their orders.

"Fu Li, come with me while Kun Li, stay here and protect Mi Rong. Don't let anyone come in while I'm gone."

"Yes, boss." Both replied at the same time.

Hence, in the frigid and lonely night, Jun Kai got on his black car and left the mansion in a fiery speed. 

He must see to this personally, Jun Kai thought to himself. He might not want to admit it, but his heart began to shake. The newly formed relationship that had just sprouted, had yet to take its root, or maybe it had grown deeply in his heart that's why he was afraid; afraid to be heartbroken. Though his love for her was true, but they had just started to know each other. Was this for Jun Kai to get to know her better, the answer could only be left in what was in Lin Cheng's hand.
