The group had reached the entrance, the bodyguards moved to the side to let the noble youths pass and the golden haired girl was the first to enter, followed by the rest of the youth as they entered one by one.
After all the them had entered and thus successfully registered, the bodyguards sprinted back away from the entrance, the spell that kept everyone at bay being released when they had successfully exited.
Those who were airborne and pushing down against the barrier had been flung forward when it disappeared, launching them straight towards the entrance like they had planned.
The mass of people who had been split quickly formed back together before those at the back ran through the path and cut the queue, this didn't stop some lucky and quick ones from successfully moving a great distance by running on the temporary path.
Those airborne from other entrances had noticed the commotion and had flown over to take advantage of the temporary chaos the noble's spell had caused, trying their luck to see if they could successfully pass through the entrance.
Al had noticed that a huge chunk of airborne people from another entrance had flown over to join the chaos, much more than other entrances, making the entrance less "defended" than the others, now would be the perfect chance to act.
"Follow my lead, we have to take the opportunity the nobles had given us" Al told the three, as he stood up on his platform.
"Zeena, cast a speed boost spell on your friends and yourself, and don't lag behind" Al quickly commanded her, not wanting to waste the opportunity.
She did as he said after a moment's thought, putting her trust in him despite not knowing his plans.
Sensing that they were all successfully boosted, Al nodded his head and ran of the platform, before the three noticed and could warn him, his feet touched a newly formed platform that was thinner than the one they were on.
Each step he took afterwards had formed a new platform under him that headed straight for the entrance with weak defenses, the three following just behind, with Gin just behind Al, Zeena behind him and Harry at the back.
The platform road slowly disappeared behind Harry as he was running, to prevent Al's Vaes from being unnecessarily used.
As they came closer to the entrance, projectiles started coming their way, but disappeared upon coming anywhere close to Al. These projectiles were just balls of force that had zero lethality, and had the sole purpose to displace their target, the way to defend against them is easy, just countering them with an equal or greater amount of force would work perfectly.
Al stopped in an area where those at the entrance wouldn't target them, waiting for the three behind him to catch, all around him in the air were multiple other people also out of the danger zone, waiting for an opportunity to push through the entrance.
"Just follow my lead, we're pushing straight through so we'll be in the heat of the battle and you might get targeted, don't try to fight and just keep dodging attacks by jumping from platform to platform" Al told them, multiple platforms forming infront of them in a scattered formation at a reasonable jumping distance.
All battle mages knew that mobility was very important in a battle so most of them would at least know a basic body strengthening and movement enhancing spells to increase their mobility, this applied to the three, including Harry.
Though Harry did know a basic spell to increase his mobility, and Gin's specialization was centered around his mobility, Zeena had still applied a boost to further help increase their mobility including herself.
Seeing that they were ready, Al leaped of the platform and onto the next one and then the next, more platforms forming infront of him as he proceeded.
The three followed right behind him and the platforms behind them started disappearing once again once they got further away.
The four had entered the battlezone and there were non-lethal projectiles and people flying all around them, a few people had noticed the newcomers and had started firing at them, being only slightly surprised that instead of flying, they were jumping from floating platforms.
Al swiftly dodged the projectiles that came his way by jumping to other scattered platforms that he had formed, though he could just negate them with his shield like before, he wanted to train his dodging ability to further help him become an all-rounder, as all-rounders never focused on one thing for a long time.
Gin and Zeena were able to easily dodge the projectiles as jumping from platform to platform was quite two-dimensional and two-dimensional movement was much easier than three-dimensional movement.
Harry was a little on the slow side but he had cast a shield that worked in a similar way as Al's shield and it negated the projectiles that reached him.
Al had neared the entrance and stopped at a platform, almost everyone targeted him, with him being a new opponent and using a unique method to travel in the air.
All their spells were futile as they all were negated when they reached him, they were frustrated that they couldn't use any lethal magic, as they had the confidence that Al wouldn't be able to withstand it otherwise.
Though it would be quite easy to destroy his platform or do melee combat, no one dared to as the security here was much stricter than other parts of the city, even to those of high status that had to power to get away with using offensive spells.
One year, when the security during the registration wasn't as strict and everyone more or less followed the law.
A small group had started fighting each other with lethal magic at a higher intensity than normal, usually, a weak lethal spell here and there wasn't enough to get the police moving as long as no one was severely injured as they knew most people here had statuses high enough that they would be overlooked.
But the intense battle had spread to its surroundings and slowly more and more people started using lethal magic, totally forgetting that it was illegal in a public area.
The police started moving when they noticed this but it was already too late to stop it from spreading.
It grew to the point that almost everyone was using lethal magic, causing a lot of deaths and most people in the registration to be injured to a certain degree, with little being lightly injured.
This incident made the security during registration to be more strict and anyone who even attempted to cast a lethal spell would be arrested.
This also applied to just general melee fighting with their fists or bodies even if they weren't using a spell as it would still be possible to incite a mass brawl amongst thousands of people.
Al cast a spell that send a thin white line between people who were at the front of the entrance, the people had just ignored the line as it was thin enough that it didn't block them.
"Jump straight at the entrance!" Al shouted at the three who had reached him, the were a little skeptical as they saw that the entrance was blocked by a ton of people, but seeing that Al was waiting for them, they decided to trust him as the three went ahead and jumped off the platform heading straight for the entrance.
Thinking that they would just crash amongst a pile of people, the thin line had extended out and formed a semi circle wall with both ends blocking the side of the entrance, all the people inside of the semi circle had continued moving forward into the entrance leaving a big open space inside of it.
The people outside of the semi circle had tried to break it down or climb over it, but Al had made it strong and tall enough to not let these weaklings pass.
The three landed in the open space and rushed straight for the entrance, with Al just behind them.
As Al went through the entrance right behind the trio, multiple people in the air had rushed straight for the opening trying to join them, but before them could, the semi-circle wall had been dispelled by Al and the people on the ground rushed forward and filled the gap.
Some of the people in the air even crashed into the group of people that had filled in the space.
The four had successfully "registered" for the examination!
