72 His Oath 1
Clarence
I scratch my back again, tried many times to put a eucalyptus on it to sooth it. However, the itchy back of mine doesn't go away ever. There are times that my back was so painful like inside, my veins and my bones are dislocating. This starts when the day that I meet that silver-haired girl. Speaking of her, where in hell is she?!
I pull my phone and type her French name on it and call her. It was ringing yet she's not answering. Damn this girl, she make me really, really worried and annoyed. I don't know why I feel worried and annoyed at the same time. Like I was born to get worried when she's not around and annoyed when I can't find her. I call her again and again and finally, she answered.
"Where in hell are you?" I asked really annoyed yet tried to calm myself.
"As far as I know, I am not in hell. I am in earth."
"Yeah, it was a metaphor."
"Why do you keep calling?"
"Why didn't you answer your phone when I called you?" I can't help to grin just by hearing her voice. I don't know what in hell is wrong with me.
"And why are you grinning?" I look around me to see her standing on the corner with full of books on her hand and two books is on the ground. "Stop this nonsense of yours." She ended the call and put it on her pocket as she picks the books. I run to her and get all the books from her.
I look down at her and she's wearing the cute uniform of the Academy and the skirt is three inches high from her knees. She got that firm white skin of hers. And it is glowing like her hair… like she's the light.
"That suits you." I mutter.
"Thank you, if ever that's a compliment." She said coldly. "I will join the third former today. Where's the Philosophy auditorium?"
"Good thing that it will be on my next class too. Where's your schedule?" he asked.
She pull her phone and tap something and show it in front of my face. I grin because we got exactly the same subjects.
"Let's have a breakfast first. I bet you are hungry."
"I'm not." I drop my grin. Wow, she's really cold. She's really something.
I was just eight years old when I saw her in their beautiful garden. She was just standing in front of the dead bunny that was hit by an arrow. She was like speaking to it and I got curious, then suddenly I saw a light… like a portal and it shows a heavenly place. She was beautiful on her young age five. Those light big gray eyes makes me wonder of being a person on that day. If I wasn't a bastard I can marry her. However, the same day, I was thrown out the Insideworld to Outsideworld and my father gave me money for my survival.
A couple that is childless found me on the middle of the road where I slept and almost die because of the winter. They took me, feed me, care for me and adopt me as their child. When they found out what I can do, they immediately enroll me here in Mystical Academy and still now, they give me allowances.
"Then we should eat." I hold the books by my one arm and I took her hand.
The interrogation never happened and I and Davin just ask her few questions on how she met Patrick and she told us that he entrust her to us and so, here I am acting all responsible for her. She didn't pull it because she know that she can't remove her hand from mine.
"I would gladly accept your invitation if you let go of my hand."
"Sure not." I didn't let go of her hand. "Why are your hands always cold?"
"Because that's my temperature."
"That's not normal."
"Let go of my hand then."
"I don't want to."
When we are already on the dining hall which is the canteen that has many tables and seats, I put down the books on the table as I followed her to the counter to pick our foods. She only pick a spaghetti and a bottle of ice tea. I mimic her and followed her back to our table.
"Why do you keep following and mimicking my food?"
"Nothing." I grin at her.
She rolled her eyes. It's been a week since I started—like stalking her. Rosy, Danica, Anya and Carmina are already sitting on our usual spot on the dining hall. They have their own plates and two of them just don't stop bickering, Rosy and Carmina. I don't know what the hell is wrong with those girls but they are Mrs. Patterson's apprentices.
Davin just got into the dining hall together with Gibson who are talking at each other in very serious way. Gibson is Mr. Kraig Patterson's apprentice and somehow, he's very mysterious yet crazy. What I mean crazy is a good person who loves to bully us… and girls, well except Guinevere who never bully by him. I am jealous of him because Guinevere is talking to him without her coldness.
"Gib," Guinevere call as I sat down on my chair and started eating. She push her tray to Gibson and left back to the counter.
"What's wrong with her?" Davin asked. Gibson look at me and down to my food.
"Stop peeving her like that!" Gibson scowl at me.
I ignore him and continue eating. In my life the canteen's spaghetti is the best spaghetti that I ever taste. Well, my mom don't know how to cook spaghetti and she tried many times to cook it but she only mastered the Italian spaghetti, yet I love Filipino style spaghetti than Italian. And they make here different kinds of spaghetti styles.
"Did you hear me, moron?"
"Yes. I am not deaf. I just ignore your craziness." I open the bottle of ice tea and drank on it. Guinevere put down her tray. Fruit salad and mountain dew. "Don't drink soda in breakfast. It's bad for health."
"Oh, please, don't mind me." She said sardonically.
"I don't know what the hell is wrong with these two." Anya mutter.
"They have something, duh." Carmina flip her hair. Guinevere glance at them as she started eating. She eat gracefully as she gently tapped the table napkin on her mouth. And sipped on the straw that she provided for the bottle.
"Stop staring at her!" Gibson scowl and throw his table napkin on my face. I took the table napkin that landed on my food and throw it on him. He pick it up from the table with a glare on me.
"Why do you demand things on me when it comes to her?" I ask him in very serious manner. I glanced at Guinevere who is eating without care on our argumentation and bloody battlefield-glare. "Tell me, Gibson, do you lust her?" I found Gibson laughing really loud.
"I lust her?"
"Yeah. Don't you hear me?"
"Don't get me wrong…" I move closer to her and put my arms around her while I glare on him. "You are the one who lusts her." before I even spoke, clinging of utensils, where Guinevere madly put down her fork and stood.
"Arrêtez-vous! Stupides!" She took her books and left.
"If you only stop doing those crazy things while eating, she won't get mad like that. Really, I feel her heat." Carmina said while looking at her direction walking out the dining hall. I just propped my elbow on the table and lean my cheek on my hand as I breathed dreamily.
"She's so sexy when she speak in French." I mutter. Suddenly, Gibson's eyes dilated and I know it wasn't on what I said. He immediately left the dining hall without words. Out of my curiosity I followed because, he always does that. And the bad thing is, there is someone always died whenever he does that.
I follow my instincts and went to where he went. He headed on the temple or a chapel of the God that has many names in this world but in the Insideworld he was called the Almighty God, the Father of the Gods and Goddesses and our Creator. Outside the temple is a long-silver-haired girl…
Guinevere and it shines in the light. She's kneeling in front of the door of the temple. There's no one there except her and Gibson… and the most shocking part is a boy leaning beside the door and purple-green color vomit on his uniform. Gibson stood there like he did the last time I saw him with Guinevere in front of the dead body.
I walk toward them and I suddenly hear her weeping. She's talking with someone indistinctly, not Gibson… someone that cannot be seen. She's sobbing really hard yet Gibson is not making anything. I saw the light… the familiar light that I had seen years ago the first time I met her.
I am not sure of it if she's gifted by the Goddess or a God. But she seemed different from normal people of this Earth. I walk closer to them and heard her last words.
"Father, please help me." She cries. "Thank you, father." She breathed as if she had heard the answer. Gibson stood straight like he came back and walk toward Guinevere and sat beside her.
I scratch my back again, tried many times to put a eucalyptus on it to sooth it. However, the itchy back of mine doesn't go away ever.
