27 Catastrophe: I am Destruction

I already taken a warm bath while Marcus is waiting for me. I wear a silk dress that Nicholas left and a long thick robe. Marcus was playing his composition in the title of Endless Love. He compose it for the lady that he loves so much. Nicholas had left already telling me that he will be back early in the morning.

"Wow, my beautiful daughter." He said. I smiled at him. He always called me his beautiful daughter. He never felt lust towards me though he's a bit young and we could be together. He told me that he's in love to me like a father loves his daughter. A fatherly love is all he felt towards me. And I loved him like my own father. "What are you going to sang on your performance? We should practice it, right?" he asked me. I nod at him.

I sat with him on the piano seat and he started playing some songs. I told him about the song of Adele, Set Fire to the Rain. I played the iPod of Nick that is on the side table on the speaker and he listened to the whole song as I sang along with it. My voice is better than before. After he had heard the song he played it only using the piano as he retain to his mind on the beat and the tempo.

I play my violin as he play the piano playing the same song. I close my eyes as I plays along with him when I open my eyes I stop when I saw someone wearing a white gown peeking on the big tree. She was familiar. I saw her expression. She was smiling yet crying. When I blink my eyes she disappear. Marcus had noticed me so he also looked at the tree that I am staring.

"What's wrong?" I shook my head and smile tight. We play the song again and now, I sang with the piano. We didn't notice the time that it was already three in the morning. I just sang and sang while he plays the piano. He even taught me how to play it. I know how to play piano a little.

"I feel hungry." He finally said. He stood and walk out the room. "Your legal guardian said that there are lots of foods on the fridge…" he even emphasize the legal guardian thingy. "Oh, there are foods!" I walk towards the kitchen and he started preparing a fruit salad. I helped him on chopping the kiwi, strawberry, cherry, raspberry and pineapple. He's rich in fruits and vegetables.

I and Marcus started eating the fruit salad that we made while we are watching an action movie. We both love the same movies that's why we have a lot of comparison at each other. Sure, I like romance but my genre is more on action movies.

Ruin keeps on walking around and when he finally got a perfect spot beside me he lays down and lay his chin on my lap. He looked at me in puppy eyes. I smiles and gave him the big slice of kiwi from my bowl.

"Poor Ruin…" Marcus stood and walks to the kitchen. He come back with a bowl full of foods for Ruin. Then he sat again while Ruin is eating.

"C?" he calls. I reply a hum.

"He loved you so much." I know that he's talking about Nicholas.

"He doesn't love me. He loves Adhiti because she is his soul mate."

"Why do you always break man's heart?" he asked me a little amused on his question.

"Breaking people's heart is my way of surviving in this cruel world."

"You are really my girl. We have the same perception." He grins. "I also live in this world breaking other people's heart for me to survive. But I swear to you, I never break my beloved's heart. Our situation is heartbreaking, but I never ever use anybody for my own pleasure."

"You are a good man. But the man that Adhiti loves uses women to forget her and to drown his depression. And the most painful is, he even use his girlfriend's best friend."

"He must be really broken." Does he really understand Nick? I hate it. "Don't get jealous, my baby." He patted my head. I pushed it away. "Men only wanted to fuck somebody not for fun but to forget the pain of missing someone. Men rebels when they are heartbroken or mostly broken."

"Did you ever did that?"

"Yes. On my first love I did rebel. That was stupid of me because I was an immature. But when I found my great love my soul mate… I never find a reason to rebel or cheat on her though we are not physically together. But deep inside me she's always with me. We see each other through dreams every night."

"Wow, that's one big great love."

"Yes. We loved each other that much."

He leads me to Nick's bed and he told me that he will tell a story through playing piano. I lay down on the bed and watch him play the piano. The introduction was very mystical. Like the sounds in every fairytales and goes-on and on how they met, see each other again, then fall in love at each other. The tragic thing is on how they break apart.

I wake up because of low voices talking about me.

"Take care of her. She's been through a lot, Nicholas."

"Thank you for taking care of her."

I wanted to get up but my body is all stiff and like paralyze. I hardly move my legs and arms. I just decided to close my eyes and I fall asleep again.

"Catastrophe…" his voice is so powerful, sultry and soothing. If I was the one who got all the authority in this world, I wanted to hear him every time I wake up. But it was just a dream again and it impossible to happen. "Why are you so cold?" he asked. I slowly open my eyes though it was so heavy.

"Cold?" I asked.

"Drink this…" he help me to get up and let me drink on the mug that smells like jasmine tea and lemon. I sipped on the warm tea and it relieved me a bit. I feel so cold. It startle us when the balcony double-door bangs open and the cold freezing wind blows on us. He immediately run towards the door and locked it. He even use his little control on the vines to secure the door. He even double checked the windows.

"Nick." I calls. He turn to me. "Is there a storm?" He nods and come to me again. He opens the robe and told me to remove it. I did let him. I look down at my hair that is hanging on my chest. The light blue is glowing. He was behind me and he pull the ribbon on my shoulders. I hold the front as he pull down my dress from the back.

"This will only take a day. Tonight, we are going back to Academy to continue your practice." He gently traces his fingertips down to my spine.

"Where's Marcus?"

"He goes back to his town." He tie back the sleeves of the sleeping gown and put back the robe.

"What is it that you see at my back?"

"The Aēr Queen seemed mad on something. So she let out a strong storm outside of our world."

"And what is it that do to me?"

"I don't know."

It only takes three hours for the storm to stop. He pack up few things and let me dressed into something warm. I just sit on the couch and watch him walk back and forth. Is he not done packing? He walk towards me with a bonnet on his hand. He kneel in front of me and gather my hair as he tie it and put the bonnet on my head to cover my head.

I suddenly felt like I was caught from my lies. He already knows that my tattoos are not tattoos but real marks. Then five different colors on my hair is not high lights but it grows that way.

He goes to another door and walk back with black leather boots. He kneel in front of me and put it on me. I feel like a little girl here because he care to me like a little girl. He even put winter gloves on my cold hands. Then he left again and after a few minutes he come back.

"Let's go." He extend his hand and I took it. We walk out the house and now, I just admire the whole place where his house is located. The house is wide with full of vines on the whole house. He opens the door on his pick-up truck and help me to climb up. He even put the seatbelt on me.

We drove back to the Academy and it was so far than I imagine. It was dark and we are only one driving on the muddy rocky road. I always got my head bump on the window shield. So he has to stop crawl at the back to get something. A packing tape and a big pillow. He told me to hold it while he cover it with packing tape so it won't fall. He's so caring as ever. He was about to start the engine but he turned it off when we heard a low growl.

"Nick…" I murmur his name. He took my hand and kissed it though I was wearing gloves.

"Trust me on this." Ruin whimpers at the back. "It must be a bear." He start the engine again and drive slowly. We have arrived on the Mystical Academy safely. He even escorted me to the dormitory. We are walking on the dark corridor with only torch of lights lined on the way.

The familiar clicking of shoes echoes on the corridor. That shoes… the way she walks. It had been a very long time since I last seen here. She might missed me so much because I missed her badly. Nick nods at the Former Headmistress that now I guess is the President of the school.

"Prince Nicholas." Mrs. Nancy Hudson acknowledge him.

"President Hudson," her smiles brushes away when she looked at me. I nod my head to her. I can see horror on his face. That's it, you can never smile again. Nick had noticed it.

"Adhiti?" she calls that name. I make myself look all quizzical.

"No President, she's Catastrophe Canfield." Nicholas cleared her.

"But how—"

"She might be Adhiti's doppelganger." He explain briefly. "Catastrophe, this is President Nancy Hudson. The President of the school."

"Nice to meet you President Hudson." I formally greet. She smiles forcibly and nods.

"We'll be going. She need to rest."

"Is she sick?" she asked as if worried about me. But the truth is, she wanted to know how I had been. Adhiti rarely got sick. Mostly like never.

"She has a cold it's been four days that she has a cold."

"What about medicine? Did you take medicine?" I nods which is a lie. Nick never gave me any medicine.

"She's taking a medication and slowly she's regaining her strength."

"Alright then, get well soon. I had heard that you are going to perform next week."

"Yes. I will try to be well so that I could sing." I said slowly like I was really sick.

Nick hold my shoulder and pull me. We walk again towards the double door and hid Ruin on the trolley where Nick put his things. Good thing that she didn't saw Ruin. Ruin might get killed by them.

Patrick and Andrew met us inside the girls' dormitory. They help Nick on carrying the trolley up the third floor where Adhiti's room is. I heard Ruin whimpers but I told him to keep down. I open the door and when I enter there's a lot of change inside. There's a single bed near my four poster bed.

"Marissa will stay in your room for few days until you get well." Nicholas told and closes the door. He pull out the blanket that is covering the trolley and Ruin jumped out. He started running back and forth and jumped from bed to sofa to bed.

"I will sometimes visit you here to check you." Patrick told.

"I don't need a body guard." I declare.

"You don't need one. But you need us." Patrick insisted. I looked at Andrew who only grins excitedly.

"I thought that boys are not allowed here." I cross my arms over my chest.

"Just sleep for now." Nicholas demands. Patrick and Andrew exited the room. I and Nicholas was left alone with Ruin. He gesture me to my bed and I did walk towards it. He left with the trolley and I was left alone with Ruin.

Early in the morning, I feel lighter than before. I decided to take my time on the bathtub with warm bubbles. Ruin is still sleeping so I let him and decided to bath him later. I feel so free today but my bath suddenly get interrupted when I heard the door opens. I get up and I put my bathrobe on and wrapped another towel on my hair.

"Catastrophe…" it was Eliza calling. I saw Ruin from the half open door of my bathroom jumped out from bed and growls at Eliza. I smirked and waited for her scream. I heard that she got startled so it is enough. I walk out the bathroom and glanced at the piercing Ruin showing his fangs on Eliza. "A—"

"Ruin, calm down boy." I told the wolf didn't dropped his sharp eyes on Eliza even his fangs ready to attack her. I walk towards Ruin and patted his head. He sit and dropped the deadly threat. "I'm sorry about Ruin. He's not an inviting wolf."

"Why do you have a dog in your room?" she asked a little stammered. "It is prohibited to let a dog inside the room."

"That's why I hid him here. I don't want him to be taken away from me. Besides, he's an orphan like I." Eliza nods her head and sigh. Probably her heart is beating fast.

"I was told that if you are in good condition, you should practice later."

"Thank you, Eliza." Said formally. She nods and closes the door. I patted Ruin. "Good boy." I murmurs and Ruin whines.

I went to our usual rendezvous where he teach me. It's been days since I last felt the coldness and the hotness of my body temperature. I had arrived there, and look on his direction where he is sitting. He's busy cutting a few feather for the arrow. I stood in front of him and waited for him to tell me what to do. I still use the bonnet that he gave to me. He told me not to expose my hair too much to the people around.

"Sit down, I'll show you how to make an arrow." I did and he told me how to cut the feathers properly in the same sizes and to make the stick and sharpen every arrow. "Careful not to cut your hand."

After that, I was back on stretching the string of the bow and shooting all the targets. So far, I can handle and hit the farthest target. I have to use binocular to see if I target the red spot.

We started picking up the arrows to put it back and use it again since we are out of stock. I had run to the river to pick up the last two arrow near it. I pick up the last one and the seductive sound of river makes me looked at her. She even calls my name, Adhiti, the sound was so alluring ever. I put down the arrows that I had gathered and walk towards the river. I removed my shoes and I gently slipped in down the water. I sigh the relaxing cold of the water.

I was too fond of her so I stay on the water for a few moment. Then I lift my right hand as the water come along with my hand. I smiled on how adorable it is. Then, I lift both of my hands and imagine to make a small fountain. And there, the water forms a fountain.

I gasped when someone behind me pull down my heads and he whispers in my ear like it was a warning.

"Don't show it here. They can see you…" he kept his voice low. I turn to him. He gently cupped my cheek and caressed his thumb under my eyes. He look so worried on me. "I know all your ability. You have the control over the five elements. They can't know about it. They shouldn't." he stayed on whispering so that no one can hear though we are both alone in the river. "Promise me, love." His eyes, telling all the expression that he felt. Terror, worry, care and love.

"Nick…" I whispered. He stare deep into my eyes probably it had changed color. The color of the water aquamarine. He gently move his lips to my left ear.

"Show only the fire, since you are Catastrophe."
