331 GOD'S HELP?
Zoe closed her eyes as she anticipated to hear the guns fire at them.
Her heart was pounding wildly against her chest. But to her surprise, she didn't receive a bullet anywhere on her body, nor her nose sensed smoke from their guns.
"I guess God wants us to live." King Artair mumbled, making Zoe lift her head in wonder of his statement.
She already accepted her fate. With their current situation, they have no way of getting out of that. They were already cornered and outnumbered. Terra is already in chaos.
As much as she wanted to hold on, seeing everyone in a doomed situation dampened any hope in her heart that things will be better. In fact, an inkling desire to meet her parents has already crept up in her mind.
So she was surprised to hear the King say those words. Her eyes darted around as to what he is referring to. To her surprise, everyone was staring in horror at a pack of wolves that appeared into the scene and were snarling at all the humans inside the Castle.
"The protectors.."
Azra uttered that was audible to Zoe's ears as she was also thinking the same way. She gazed at them and recalled what Azra said about them.
They are the designated protectors of the land from the intruders that were roaming around the outskirts of Terra.
There were numerous times that she encountered them. And most were not so good experiences. Except for the last one, when they seemed to be tamed by the power that emanated from the necklace that she was wearing.
"Could I probably use this necklace to our advantage?"
Zoe thought to herself. But doubted as she doesn't understand yet what the necklace can do. Terra's peace is disrupted. She doesn't know what the wolves would consider an enemy since most of them have a part to play in its destruction including her.
"Is this the help that the Tree sent? Or are they here to punish us for our wrongdoing?"
Zoe narrowed her eyes on them and as she did so, she noticed that their eyes were red like the last time.
"Do you know how to control the necklace?" Lord Hou whispered to her as he had already gone to her side without her noticing.
Zoe shook her head in response.
To their surprise, one of Bo Zhiang's men fires a gun at them to their surprise, making the other wolves pound on him and rip him apart.
"Fire your guns at them!" Bo Zhiang shouted, which were obeyed immediately by the gunmen.
However, the other wolves get their revenge as they kill all the men with guns with their sharp claws and gnashing teeth.
"Move!" King Artair commanded as he pointed to the back exit. The ladies of the royal family complied in a fraction of a second, assisted by the other royal guards.
However, the men stayed with their swords in front of them, ready for whatever will happen next.
"Let's go, Crowned Princess."
Princess Taia pulled Zoe but Zoe refused as she pulled back her arm.
"I will help."
"It's dangerous out here!" Raigon bellowed as he himself pulled Zoe with a gentle force towards the back.
Still, Zoe tried to get away from him.
"You don't understand. I can -"
Just as she was trying to explain it, they heard a piercing wail from the group of men that were being slaughtered by the wolves.
"Zoe!" It was Bo Zhiang.
He is one of the reasons why her parents die. She could just let the wolf take her revenge for her parents. But she couldn't bear to see him die in her eyes.
Even though he was surprisingly a villainous man unlike what Zoe had thought him to be, he was still the uncle that kept her under his roof and supported her studies. She wouldn't be who she is now if it wasn't for him.
She decided to forgive him right then and there and ran towards him.
"Uncle!" And as she did so, she saw that his leg was already at the mouth of one of the wolves.
Raigon tried to stop her as she pulled her back to a distance.
"Help me, niece! I don't want to die!"
At her distance, she could smell the wolf's malodorous scent. And with its look, he could even kill Bo Zhiang like a piece of easy meat.
She recalled the times when she comes face to face with those wolves. And the first few times, she would pass out.
This time however, she mustered enough courage to remain conscious.
"I will try my best."
Zoe nodded her head even though she didn't know how she could help him. She clutched her necklace with one hand and stretched her other hand to the wolf who was resolved to break his bones.
"Stop!"
Her anxious eyes darted to the wolf, cudgeling her brains if it worked out. To her dismay, it didn't seem to affect the wolf as it was already strangling his body in pieces.
Zoe closed her eyes and glanced away. She couldn't bear to see her known uncle drenched in blood. No matter how angry she was for all his evildoings, she still felt sorry for him.
Her knees crumbled as she fell on the floor. Raigon pulled her away completely as he tried to comfort her.
"Maybe it was his fate that his blood spread in the land that he destroyed twice."
As he said so, she recalled the villages that were burned and the innocent people that died from it. It must have been the scenario also before.
"Then God must have set his eyes on us."
She gazed at him as feelings of admiration welled up in her heart for his strength in enduring two great Bloodbaths within his lifespan.

"Don't worry, God is never blind to your tears, never deaf to your prayers and never silent to your pain. He sees, he hears and will deliver.
