326 NOW I CAN HELP YOU
"How did Terra get into this tragedy?" Lord Vigo blurted out as he witnessed the scenario.
"Are you certain that you don't know anything about this?" Raigon snapped at him as he heard his reaction.
"You know how I searched every corner of Terra to find the intruders while you were dilly dallying with your lady love." Lord Vigo snarled back.
"Men of Terra, this is not the time for your childish bickering. We are in a grave situation here." Duke Andras raised his hands to stop the two from getting into a fist fight.
Zoe narrowed her eyes on him and checked his sincerity. 'Is he really concerned for Terra? Don't they really know what is going on here?'
She cleared her throat and added to his reprimand, hoping the two royal mighty men could see the situation at hand.
"We have one enemy. And if we won't do something in the quickest time possible, Terra will vanish from this planet."
"She's right. I will talk to the royal council and ask for their help. Maybe we could oust Wiktoria from the throne. That sly witch."
They already told the situation to them as they were leaving the dungeons.
"I hope you will be effective this time since you failed doing that to Father." Raigon retorted, making Zoe dart her eyes at him like deadly arrows and shook her head.
Fortunately, Duke Andras just let it go as he seemed to be oblivious of Raigon's remark as he continued.
"I hope the Queen is in good health. She must have been devastated by her best friend's betrayal."
Raigon's face seemed to relax as he could have recalled the reason why Duke Andras was genuinely concerned about his mother.
'If things would go haywire, he would surely protect her no matter what.' Zoe thought as she observed Duke Andras
"How about Lady Thana? Does this make her the Crowned Princess now?" Lord Vigo asked them.
Zoe didn't know the answer to this question so she also looked at Raigon. However, both she and Lord Vigo were disappointed when he made a different response.
"As of this moment, people's lives were being spared. Should we be more focused in dealing with the matter at hand?"
At which, Lord Vigo nodded as he replied. "Definitely. I will talk to my men. Leave the minions to us."
'Does that mean that we are then in charge of confronting the intruders?' Zoe thought as she gazed at Raigon's features whom she cannot predict at that moment.
As soon as Duke Andras and Lord Vigo left with royal guards that Raigon assigned to monitor them, she faced him and held his hands.
"This will pass. Everything will go back to normal. Just continue being strong. There are people who were trusting you and are willing to support you until this end."
"And those people include you." Raigon's lips finally curved up as he pulled Zoe nearer to him.
"Yes, your Highness. Tell me what you need and I will do it. Zoe smiled at him as she put her arms around his waist.
They were in this scenario when a royal guard rushed to them.
"Your Highnesses, there were women and children who were in the open fields. They seemed to have escaped when their villages were burned. But they seemed to be dying too."
Zoe's eyes widened as she heard those words. "I think I know now how I can help you."
Raigon nodded his head as he understood what she meant. "Send word if you need anything."
Zoe quickly came with the royal guard and went to the place that he was mentioning. Indeed, there were a number who needed her medical intervention. And three people caught her eyes.
"Tristan! Lady Zhou! Lady Dolores!"
"Lady Asha!" Tristan lifted his hands to her in which Zoe opened her arms and embraced him.
At a fraction of a second, she checked on their health. Fortunately, they were just minor compared to the other victims of the arson.
After she was finished with them, she immediately went on assessing the other one. But since the demand is greater, some of them die while she's checking on the others.
She stood up and laid her eyes on everyone. Some of them have already passed out while the others are gasping for breath. The cries of both children and their ailing mothers pierces through Zoe's ears. Even though she wasn't in their villages, she could smell the smoke coming from there through their clothes and hair.
"What would I do now?" She heaved out a deep breath as she knew she couldn't do it alone.
"You should make the most of your time. Stand up or lose or you'll live more lives, your Highness!"
Zoe turned her back in astonishment at whoever made the remark.
"Gao Zemin!" She exclaimed, wanting to hug him if there weren't piles of bodies in between them.
He bowed to her and then continued on checking on the other patients. Seeing hope that she was not alone, she jumped to her feet and repeated what she had been doing before Gao Zemin arrived.
She also instructed the royal guard that Raigon assigned to guard her to come back to him and ask for help from the royal physicians so they could prevent more casualties.
Before long, there were royal physicians who were coming to help them out. Though they were not the number that Zoe was expecting. Still they were enough to manage the situation at hand.
However, as they were transporting them to the hospital, their carriages were stopped by the foreign intruders.
"Stop in the name of Queen Wiktoria."
The royal physicians and the patients all looked at Zoe for their next move.
Zoe looked over them too and drew in a deep breath. She must make a risky decision if she wanted them to live.
Zoe drew in a deep breath and opened the door of the carriage. "Let these people go and I will let you take me."
