315 TO LEAD THE HOSPITAL OR NOT?

Zoe felt slightly elated, hoping for a good response for the rest of the day. The hospital staff were still thanking her as she went out of the Emergency Department.

She went back into the hallway and was about to go to the elevator with a smile on her face when she saw a group of individuals wearing Hanfu robes.

Her eyes widened in horror as she ran immediately to them and blurted out. "Why are you here?"

They glanced at one another in confusion but one managed to answer her question.

"One of our friends couldn't make it at the play because she was sick. We decided to visit her and reenact the play to her to make her feel better."

Zo closed her eyes and breathed out a sigh of relief. She thought something bad happened to Terra that they have no choice but to leave their lands.

A sudden pang of guilt rushed through her as her heart suddenly drummed.

'What is happening over there right now?'

She gazed at the group who were chatting again as they left the premises. As she did so, she recalled the Xianghais whom she had treated as their costumes looked like their ordinary clothes.

'I wonder how they are right now.'

Her lungs expanded as she somehow missed the beauteous land thousands of miles away from here, with its luscious green fields and sparkling emerald city.

She was thinking of these things as she rode the elevator when she heard the people talking.

"I heard Ms. Zoe Cheng's here. Could she really lead this hospital?"

"I don't know. I've never seen her even once. But I heard that she's still young and inexperienced. I wonder if it's better for Chairman Bo to just continue being the head. She just might destroy this institution with her ignorance and incompetence."

Zoe bit her lips and lowered her head. She wanted to defend herself. But to be honest with herself, she really wasn't confident that she could do it. Yes, she studied hard and managed to graduate earlier than others. But hands-on, she needs a lot of time to get to know the ropes.

And if she claimed chairmanship, she wouldn't have the time to leave so she could visit Terra if possible. Or even stay there if things would turn out for her.

"I only grabbed the soul of this hospital from the demon's grasps. But what do I do now?"

The elevator door opened and everybody stepped out. However, her feet seemed to be glued to the floor.

Just then, a familiar face showed up and smiled at her like the bright morning sun just outside the building.

"This floor?"

"Cayden.." Zoe gave him one of her sweetest smiles as her feet finally summoned up the carriage to walk into the lion's den.

"I didn't know that you were also here."

"Well, I managed to level up. You've been gone for two years just in case you forgot." He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly as he guided her steps to the board room.

"I see." Zoe answered as if uninterested, but a bright idea came to her mind.

"Just scream my name when things go south. I already readied my sword under my table." Cayden chuckled in his attempt to easen up Zoe's apprehension.

But Zoe's shoulders slumped as she recalled Raigon who was always protecting her literally in life and death.

'How could I stay here when he needed me the most?'

Her knees slightly wobbled as he thought about it. But then her eyes caught on some employees in the administration who are giving her a quick glance and cheering on her.

"Yes, I'm also needed here. It is not true that it will maintain its stability under Uncle's leadership. But it's a downfall."

She gritted her teeth as she straightened herself and walked towards the room pulling Cayden with him.

"Wait, I have to -" But Cayden's feet were already in the boardroom with her.

As expected they were all in shock at seeing her. Some faces brightened up while others grimaced.

However they all bowed down their heads to her and greeted her.

One of them who seemed to know her father approached her and shook her hand. "It's nice to see you again, Ms. Cheng. You looked so much like the former chairman."

She smiled at him and to everyone who was present, including those who don't seem to be happy to see her.

As they sat down, one of them shot up his hand and asked her.

"If I may ask, Ms. Cheng, what are your concrete plans for this hospital ten years from now? Are you here to lay them out before us? Because if you don't, how could we submit to you? I assume you're not expecting we'll do so just because you're the former Chairman's daughter."

"I am not against you, Ms. Zoe Cheng. But I think he's right. Corporate management is not as easy as you think. Maybe you should try to talk with your uncle and sort things out. You are relatives after all."

Zoe was not ready for that one. Will everything really work out if she talks with her uncle about it?

'Should I really not allow these things to escalate like this amidst what he has done to my parents?'

She was contemplating these things when Uncle Bo appeared on the scene with Koby and clapped his hands.

"You think you already won, niece? I guess I've been pampering you too long."

That evil snigger crept up in his face again. And as he did so, she recalled that he was the instigator of the bloodbath in Terra. He must even be sentenced to life imprisonment after what he has done.

If only she could set the world know about Terra. But since she cannot, taking away the company that he worked hard for is like scratching hard against his greedy soul.

Her lips curved up in a triumphant grin as she responded.
