131 STARING AT DEATH

"Shouldn't we be more concerned about the welfare of your grandson than the physician?"

Raigon reiterated on.

Zoe continued to stare at Raigon.

'Why do you always keep saving me whenever I am in trouble? How could I forget you when you do this every single time, whether you remember me or not?'

Even though she appreciated his presence in her life, she can not just allow him to be in danger again because of her.

Zoe was about to butt in and accept the responsibility when another character came in to play.

"Vigo…"

Raigon clenched his fist when he saw his cousin enter the scene.

He was the head of the royal troops.

Raigon didn't expect that he would be here since he has a wide scope of area.

Everyone bowed to him including Raigon, Azra and Zoe.

"The royal guards have informed me that there might be possible intruders in this residence. Am I right, Lady Dolores?"

He declared in a booming voice as he inspected the room.

"I-I think there was a slight misunderstanding, Lord Vigo. Perhaps we could talk about this outside. My grandson is resting now."

Lady Dolores responded as she stood up to go outside the door, hoping the royal guards would follow her.

Zoe glanced at Lady Dolores from behind her mask.

'Is she swayed now by Raigon's plea? Is she helping me now escape from this?'

Zoe kept her fingers crossed.

"Alright, let us obey the master of the house. I know she will not hide a criminal under her house since she understand what it meant; their whole household will receive capital punishment. You are definitely aware of it, Lady Dolores?"

He gave Adrian's grandmother an amiable smile.

But they were all aware that it's not a smile of an angel but of the devil.

They all wait for Lady Dolores to respond.

"As you can see, my grandson is still alive and breathing. And if he dies, I will kill her myself."

Lady Dolores responded in a determined voice as she gave a death stare at Zoe.

Zoe was taken aback as she seemed serious when she said that.

Vigo bowed to her and praised her brevity.

"You don't have to get your hands dirty, Lady Dolores. That is the reason we are here to serve you."

They were about to walk out of the room when Vigo noticed the construction tools on the table.

"Why are these things in here?"

He picked up the chisel and put it under the lamp so he could observe it closely.

It still has some blood stains from the operation.

Zoe wanted to bang her head on the nearest wall.

'Why haven't I thought about cleaning them first or just hiding them away?! Wait! Where's my medical kit?'

Zoe's eyes quickly darted left and right to search for her Hebao.

It is also gone!

She wanted to grope around and search for it.

But she would look suspicious if they saw her fumbling.

'I would surely see my head in a guillotine if they see it!'

As her eyes rousted around, they unconsciously met Raigon's.

His right eyelid closed and opened again.

'Is there something wrong with his eye?'

Then it happened again.

Zoe's eyes widened.

'He is winking at me! Does that mean that he knew where my medical kit is?'

His head gave a one-time nod to make him look less dubious.

Zoe breathed out a sigh of relief.

Vigo gently placed the tool back to the table and continued on his way out of the room.

She was about to follow after them when Vigo swiveled back.

This time, he pulled out his sword and pointed it at her.

"Take off your mask!"

Her heart raced a thousand times more than her normal heart rate.

She felt she would faint anytime.

But she shook her head. This is a time to remain strong.

Like lightning, Raigon immediately pulled Zoe behind his back.

"Stay behind me. Azra!"

He was still doubtful about her identity, but he couldn't help himself from protecting her.

It was like a natural instinct that emanates from his body.

He was still contemplating if it was the right thing to do when Azra pulled out his sword and put it in a defense stance for the Crown Prince.

Seeing one of the royal physicians brought out a sword in front of their captain, the royal guards drew out their own.

Now they are facing one another, sword by sword.

"So you are not real physicians, eh? Remove your masks right now!"

Vigo's command roared through the four corners of the room.

'This can't be! Lives will be in great danger again because of me!'

Zoe screamed in her head.

In a quick motion, she knelt down in front of Lord Vigo to everyone's surprise.

"Forgive me, my lord, for not revealing my face sooner. Please have mercy on us."

At full speed, she removed her mask, fixed her face and tilted her head.

"I am Asha from the Gao Clan."

She then made a formal bow to Vigo and didn't stand up until Vigo commanded her to do so.

Vigo seemed pleased with her humble action as his lips curved up.

Still, he pointed the tip of the sword at Zoe's neck.

Zoe immediately closes her eyes, expecting that it will pierce her neck until it goes through her nape.

She expected that he will pull the sword back and a river of her blood will gush out of her neck.

She will lose a lot of blood until she dies.

But then she thought. 'Will I die a criminal death when I just saved a life? This isn't the kind of death that I want for myself.'

She opened her eyes and stared at Vigo directly.

"I didn't do anything wrong."

To her surprise, another sword was pointed at Vigo's neck.

It was Raigon's.
