126 A STRANGE DOCTOR

"A-are you a physician?" 

Tristan's mother asked her in between sobs.

Zoe bit her lips. She can only help with basic first aid outside the hospital.

But given a serious case with complications such as in the likes of this man, she didn't know if she could be of any help.

'I am in a different world and I have no idea what their medical practices are here.'

'He has to go to the hospital. But if they have already gone to one and they can't do anything for him, how could I be of any help?'

As she was still contemplating, Erin answered for her.

"Yes, she is, madame."

Zoe's eyes widened at Erin's quick reaction to the lady's question.

"Where's the Zoe I know? Come on. I know you can help him."

She whispered to her, encouraging her to treat the lady's son.

Zoe glanced at his mother who was massaging his son's hand as she gazed at him pitifully.

He was tilting his head every now and then and he was breathing heavily.

Zoe drew in a deep breath. 

"I will do what I can, milady." 

Zoe resolved to herself.

His mother bowed down to her. 

"Please, I will do whatever I can to extend his life. You are my last and only hope now."

Droplets of perspiration formed on Zoe's forehead as she checked the situation of Tristan's brother.

She has seen a medical case like this during her time working at the hospital. 

Dr. Xiong operated on her then and she was his assistant surgeon.

'But how can I possibly do this now without Dr. Xiong and the surgery room?!'

"It can't be helped. I apologize, milady." 

Zoe bowed down. 

When his mother heard those words, she immediately ran to his side and embraced him tightly. 

"God, please don't take him away from me!" 

As she did so, his son started convulsing. 

"Adrian! No, Adrian!"

His mother pressed her hands firmly on his shoulders to stop it from shaking uncontrollably.

Zoe ran to his side and butted in.

"Milady, please let me." 

Lady Liu gazed at his son with panic in her eyes but she let him go and allowed Zoe to check on him.

"Please help my brother! Mother cannot live with him! I heard her say she's going to kill herself after he dies!"

Tristan was already crying so Erin brought her outside to calm him down. 

Zoe half-opened his Hanfu clothes and placed the pillow on his side under his head.

"Can you help me remove these furnitures around him?"

The servants in waiting immediately obliged as they were told.

Afterward, she stared at Adrian, waiting for him to stop convulsing.

"Why are you just standing there without doing anything?" 

The lady was now furious as she was in hysteria because of the emergency condition of her son. 

She immediately covered him with her body and tried to stop him again.

"Milady, it will do more harm to him if you do that."

Lady Liu furrowed her brows but she distanced herself away.

True enough, after a few minutes, his spasm suddenly came to a halt.

"I-Is he all right now?"

Zoe checked his pulse and respiratory rate. She gulped as she realized that he was only a few hours away from dying.

"What's happening?"

Erin just came back after calming Tristan.

"He needs surgery!" Zoe immediately responded.

"Surgery?!" Both Erin and Lady Liu reacted.

"What is surgery?" Lady Liu reacted.

"It seems that they don't have an operating room in this place." Erin exclaimed.

"Operating room?" Lady Liu reiterated again. 

Erin cupped her mouth as she realized that she just thought out loud.

"Look, I don't know what you are talking about. But if that method will work out for my son, let's make that surgery and operating room happen."

Zoe drew in a deep breath. 

She recalled her promise to Elder Shao Qiang. That she will do everything to survive and help others live as well.

"There isn't much time. We need to hurry. Do you have construction tools here in your house?"

"C-construction tools? Y-yes. Please accompany her to our basement."

She instructed her servant who bowed to her and walked ahead so Zoe could follow her.

"Please make this place as clean as a hospital as possible, milady."

Zoe bowed to Lady Liu.

She was about to follow the servant when Erin stopped her.

"Are you sure you're going to do this?"

Zoe paused for a few seconds. 

He might not really live even if she operated on him. 

Aside from that, she was exposing to these people that they were not really Terrans. 

"Will I just let him die then?"

This was the first situation that Zoe has encountered where she must choose whether to save somebody or save themselves.

Before going after the servant, she grasped Erin's hand and gave her instruction.

"We're going to leave this island after this. Be ready."

Erin nodded then she quickly helped the house servants in cleaning up the room.

Zoe followed after the house servant and looked for everything that she could use as medical equipment for the operation. 

She quickly gave it to the servant in waiting.

"Please put these all in boiling water. Do you have clean clothes?"

"Yes, milady." The servant left and followed Zoe's instructions. 

She went to the kitchen to boil the hammers and chisels. 

As she was doing so, Tristan's grandmother came into the scene and asked the servant.

"What are you doing with that hardware equipment?"

The servant bowed to her and explained the situation to her.

"Adrian!" She was about to run to her grandson when she noticed Zoe's peculiar intervention.

"Why would she need those?"

Another servant came into the kitchen and bowed to Tristan's grandmother before searching the cabinet.

"Here it is." She said as she pulled out an alcoholic drink.

"What is this strange method? Is she really a physician?!" She yelled as she went out to go to Zoe.

As she went inside Adrian's room, she saw Zoe tying up a piece of equipment with a light at the end of a rope.

Her eyes widened in horror as she saw how  the two strange ladies changed his grandson's room into a medical room.
