83 AM I NOT YOUR TYPE?
'What in the world did I just do?' She wanted to hit her head with the nearest rock she could find.
Lucky her, Raigon was such a gentleman to let her go without taking advantage of her.
As soon as they were out of Raigon's earshot, Savannah's friends murmured to Zoe. "I did not know you were close to Mr. Gao."
Zoe glanced at them as she was walking quietly and staring at the front. She just gave them a smug smile.
She tried to focus on looking for their fellow castaways, but she just couldn't get the scene earlier out of her conscious mind.
Thinking about how he controlled himself turned her previous smug smile turned into a genuine one.
'Does a guy like him still exist on earth? Does that mean that he is worthy of my trust?'
She stared at the tourists around the beach. There were couples who were also having a vacation there. There was one pair where they were holding their hands while walking along the sands. There was another one in the waters and they were playing with each other as they tried to shove a handful of water towards one another.
'Is it possible for that to happen to us?' She shook her head before she got ahead of herself again. She heaved out a deep sigh as she kicked the sand while walking. How could it be possible when he does not trust her with his identity? And she doesn't trust her with her heart either.
As she was contemplating, one of them questioned her straightforwardly. "Is he your boyfriend?" The rest looked at her with eagerness as they waited for her answer.
Zoe almost tripped as she heard the question. "No! He's not." She blurted out after she composed herself.
Yes, that's right. He was not her boyfriend so she has no right to think of him in that way. He may have expressed his intentions to protect her, but maybe that is because her life was always in danger as he sees it.
"That's good! I have a chance, Nella hopefully blurted out. She was the person that inquired about it. She retorted in response with a grin on her face.
"How dare you assume that! Even Zoe did not pass his standards. What made you think you could?" One of them replied to her.
Zoe tightened her lips. Maybe she's right. Maybe the reason why he refused her during that time is she was not his type.
"I wonder what's his type." One of them commented, voicing out the same thought on Zoe's mind.
"I know! Let's ask him later when we get together!" One of them remarked. They all giggled and stomped on their feet, revealing their unity in their scheme.
Zoe smirked. If they were not the same pack, she could have tittered with them. But they were Savannah's friends. The same circle that made her lose back then, who seemed to have no remorse or whatsoever as they talk with her as if nothing ever happened.
Zoe just allowed them to be as she was already used to them. She wondered if there were individuals in this group that changed like her.
Or it is really true that you need great trials in your life, like what happened to her, for one to change, whether it be towards what will be better or worse.
"Over here!" Koby called them as they approached them.
She did not realize that the other Norfolks were now a few feet in front of them. They were also following his footsteps as he looked for the perfect spot to go fishing.
Some of them were holding the fishing gears, while others were carrying the ice bucket where they will put their hunted dinner for the evening.
She smiled as soon as she saw Kristie in the crowd.
She also waved her hand to her, motioning her to move beside her. Zoe hastened her speed so she could come to her side and also, to distance herself from the group whom she was very uncomfortable to be with.
Kristie chatted with her as soon as she came within her vicinity. "I'm sorry if they have to fetch you. They came to our tent at an earlier time and were looking for you. I want to distract them but they said they will make me loose again in the next game if I won't tell them where you are." She said in an apologetic voice, with her lips twitched downward and eyebrows knitting together in anxiety.
Zoe waved her hand. "Don't sweat it. I was about to leave and go back anyway." She gave her a reassuring smile.
"Really?" Kristie's frown turned into a grin. "So did you finish the tent already?" She checked innocently.
"Uh, not yet. I guess he'll have to finish it on his own." Zoe answered her as she helped her with the gears that she was holding.
"Oh, but you took a while there. What did he do to you?" Kristie teased her, while poking her finger on her.
In a matter of seconds, she remembered herself lying down and Raigon's face near to hers. She could even smell his manly scent from where they are. Beads of sweat formed on Zoe's forehead. She wiped them with her handkerchief as she answered. "Nothing! He did not do anything." She explained herself away while waving both of her hands.
"Were you disappointed?" Kristie laughed, as she saw the awkward situation of her newfound friend.
"I don't know," Zoe muttered as she shrugged her shoulders. She liked it that he respected her but if he does that because she was not his type, maybe she was disappointed.
She tried to deviate from the topic instead. "Um, I think Koby has instructions for us."
True enough, Koby saved her from being grilled by Kristie as he gave them a demonstration on how to fish. Both Zoe and Kristie watched him in admiration.
As they did so, someone at their back was secretly observing them. It was Raigon.
