Chapter 22 - In The Wake Of Everything.

Cole's P.O.V.

"Please, please, please save her goddess, please"

I whispered under my breath, I can't lose her, I just can't.

"Don't worry Cole, she's a fighter our Nat"

"CLEAR!!"

Thump!!.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!.

"Let's go again"

The pack doctor revs up for another go and I prayed to the moon goddess to save my mate.

"CLEAR!!"

Thump!!.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!.

This happens several times each time my heart broke even further when I saw that she was unresponsive, the pack doctor tried again and the steady sound of a beep sent instantly relief throughout my whole body.

"See brother, I told you she's a fighter"

I smiled brightly feeling relieved...very, very relieved.

A Few Hours Later...

"Alpha....Alpha"

I felt myself being shaken from my slumber, I groggily open my eyes and look around feeling confused at first but then I looked up at the pack doctor and everything hit me.

"Doc, is everything ok? hows Natalia?"

"Calm down alpha, please, Natalia is ok, we've managed to get all of the silver out of her system and we've managed to stitch up her wound"

"That's good news"

I sighed in relief.

"How bad was the wound?"

The doctor sighed as he looked down at his hands.

"She's a very lucky girl alpha, the weapon was half an inch away from piercing her heart and if it did....then she'd be dead"

f**k.

"Can I see her?"

"Sure you can, my nurses are currently changing her into some fresh clean clothes, as soon as she's settled in her room then you can see her"

"Ok thanks, what room is she in?"

"Room 270"

"Ok...NO!!, put her in the Luna room, she needs some peace and quiet"

"The Luna room? but she's not Luna"

I glare at my pack doctor who quickly went from confused to scared.

"O..ok a..alpha"

He briskly walked away and I mind linked my brother to give him the update on Natalia, no one wanted to leave until they knew that Natalia was alive and out of danger but they were all exhausted so I ordered them all to leave, as for my sorry excuse for a father, he was taken to another room to be checked out and I made sure that it was on the other side off the hospital so that he's nowhere near Natalia.

I was absolutely furious when I found out that he and my momma had taken Natalia to the torture room and for such flimsy reasons.

I probably would've killed him had Natalia not flatlined, my wolf was determined to breakthrough to kill my dad but I managed to keep him at bay which wasn't easy, Ace has been a big ball of anger ever since I rejected Nat and now he's ready to blow.

"Alpha"

"Hmm, yes"

"Miss Vasquez has been taken to the Luna room, you can go and see her now"

"Thank you"

I stand up and stretch a little before heading to Natalias room, when I get there, I take a deep breath before entering.

Beep!!, beep!!, beep!!, beep!!, beep!!, beep!!, beep!!, beep!!.

I walked over to Natalias bed and stood next to it, she looks so peaceful and angelic, if it wasn't for the huge gash on the side of her head and her pale skin you would think she was sleeping.

Knock!!, knock!!, knock!!.

"Come in"

I didn't need to look up to know that the pack doctor had entered.

"Excuse me, alpha, I need to check Miss Vasquez's vitals and..."

"Luna"

"Excuse me"

"She's your Luna...so call her that"

He nods his head at me.

"Ok, I just need to check her vitals and give her some more pain medication"

I nod my head and watch as he does what he needs to do.

"What are you giving her?"

"Morphine, it'll ease her pain and any discomfort until her wolf is ready to heal her"

"Do you know when her wolf will heal her?"

The doctor sighs and stops writing on his clipboard, he takes off his glasses and looks at me with sympathy.

"Alpha....our Luna is in a very critical condition even though we've successfully got all of the silver out of her, stopped the internal bleeding and stitched up her wound, there really isn't anything more we can do, it's all down to her"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that it's up to Natalia if her wolf heals her or not and...."

I looked up at him when he stopped speaking and I saw that his face was filled with sadness and sympathy.

"And what, doc?"

"Well...it's up to Natalia if she wakes up or not....like I said it's all down to her"

What?.

My heart broke at his words and I felt like my world had been shattered into pieces.

"I'm sorry, alpha, I really am, please keep your faith in our moon goddess and she'll help bring Luna Natalia back to us"

I nod my head slightly as I try my hardest to hold back my tears.

"Thanks, doc"

The pack doctor leaves and I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding, I then take a seat in the chair next to Natalias bed and gently grab hold of her hand entwining hers with mine as I look at her beautiful, peaceful face.

"Please wake up, Nat....please"

I place a gentle kiss on the back of her hand as I watch my beautiful mate sleep.

The Next Day...

"Do we really have to do this today, Angelo?"

"Yes brother, we need to find out as much as we can so we can plan our revenge against these assholes for hurting our Nattie"

"Can't we just beat the shit out of the rogue until he speaks?"

"We could but unfortunately, he's still passed out thanks to you"

"Weak ass"

I mutter under my breath, I didn't even snap his neck that bad, I'm a trained alpha, I know how to snap someone's neck enough to either kill them or knock them out.

"What's going on with you, I thought you wanted to find out what happened to Natalia?"

"I do, it's just..."

I let out a sigh as I look down at my feet.

"Just what?"

I look up at Angelo and I was torn between whether or not I should share with him what exactly happened when Natalia got stabbed, I didn't want too because I didn't have all of the pieces to that story yet but I knew Angelo wouldn't shut up about it until I tell him, so...

"Why have you guys stopped?"

Alpha James asks whilst staring at us.

"What are you hiding from us, Cole?"

"Nothing"

"Bullshit just tell us"

I look between the two men, my brother was angry whilst alpha James was confused, I finally gave in and decided to tell them, maybe they can help me with some of the questions that I've got.

"Come on, I'll show you"

We walked a little further until we reached the lake more specifically the spot where we were attacked.

"Ok, so...myself and Nat were standing right here, we were talking and then out of nowhere, I was dragged over to this tree by the rogues and Natalia was knocked into this boulder which is how she got the gash on her head, as you can see, there are at least ten to fifteen feet between us right but if you look closely you won't see any shoeprints from her running from there to where I was"

"Well, she was wearing heels, they wouldn't leave much of an impression would they?"

"Of course they would, Angelo, all shoes do, anyway that's not all, if you look over here where she was stabbed, you'll see blood and if you look over by the boulder you'll also see blood there"

"So..."

"So....look between both of the spots where there's blood, you won't see a single drop which you would do if she'd gotten up and walked or crawled back over to the boulder"

Both men looked confused and I don't blame them, I'm still confused about it all.

"So, let me get this straight, you were here and Natalia was there and you say that when the rogue threw the weapon at you, Natalia appeared out of nowhere and that's how she got stabbed, right?"

"Yer"

Alpha James looks around the scene looking deep in thought, his face then contorts to shock and realisation.

"What? what is it?"

"Erm, alpha Cole....do you know anything about Natalia? a..about her...real family?"

"Yer, my parents told me all about it after Natalia ran away...what's that got to do with anything?"

"Well, I've been trying to find out who Natalia's birth family is ever since she showed up at my pack and I was successful a couple of weeks back"

"Ok....what did you find out about them?"

"I found out that Natalia's biological mother is a hybrid, she's a half-witch half-werewolf meaning Natalia is as well"

What the f**k?...Natalia's a hybrid?.

"She's got several powers which include Telepathy, Empathy, Telekinetic Orbing and she can create an orb shield with a flick of her hands which is what she did when we first arrived here because she felt like she was in danger"

Oh my god, this is crazy.

"Natalia can also heal herself instantly and has been able to do so for many years according to her and Emily"

"I knew Natalia had more powers that she was yet to tap in too but I never thought that this was one of them but it makes sense now that I think about it because her biological father has got the same power"

"What power?"

James was silent for a few minutes as he intently looked around the grounds one last time, he then looked up at myself and Angelo with a stoic face but excited eyes.

"Astral projection"

"WHAT?"

Both myself and Angelo shout at the same time. 

"Are you sure?"

"Definitely"

"How does it work?"

"Well you see gentlemen astral projection is the ability for the owner of the power to project either their consciousness or their soul into an astral form outside of the body, this power is triggered by the owners ability to be in two places at once which makes sense if you think about it"

"How?"

"Well, if everything happened how you say it happened then it's possible that Natalia triggered her power because she was scared for her mates life and she wanted to save you which explains how there's only blood in the two spots where she was stabbed and where you found her but none in between because as soon as she lost consciousness she lost control of her power and it returned her to her body"

I hate to admit it but that makes total sense.

"Wait a minute, Angelo didn't you say that Natalia can heal herself instantly?"

"Yes"

"Then why isn't she healing herself?"

Angelo looks at alpha James and they shared a look, I noticed their eyes had glazed over meaning they're in a mind link, after a couple of minutes, they broke contact and Angelo sighed.

"Cole....Natalia can only heal herself fully with the help of her wolf which isn't possible because she was stabbed with silver"

"So"

"Urgh!!, you really should've spent more time in the classroom instead of the janitors closet, Cole"

Angelo said in frustration whilst rubbing his forehead.

"Silver has a really bad effect on our wolves Cole, it can kill them and leave us either dead or wolfless if too much of it enters into our bloodstream, luckily for Natalia, there wasn't much in her system and the doctors were able to quickly flush it out but it's still had a bad effect on her wolf and now she needs some time to recover before she can heal Nattie"

"f**k"

I ran my hand through my hair in frustration, I need to speak to the pack doctor and get an accurate timing on how long it can take for Natties wolf to heal her, I know he said that it's basically up to Natalia now but I can't wait, I'm too impatient, it's only been twenty four hours since I last heard her voice and saw her beautiful green eyes and I feel like I'm losing my god damn mind.

"Are we done here, guys? I wanna get back to Nat"

"Yer, we're done"

"Make sure you have a shower before you go and see my poor sister"

"Why? I had one this morning"

"Really?....did you actually use body wash?"

"Yes, you cheeky bastard"

I walk away leaving those two idiots chuckling behind me, I head to my house which is situated behind the packhouse.

When I was sixteen, I designed my own house that I wanted to build on my property for just me, my Luna and our kids to live in, I started construction on my dream home as soon as I became alpha and work was finally finished a couple of months ago, it took three long years but it was worth it, well, it will be when I get Natalia back and we start on our own family.

I arrive at my house and immediately make a beeline for my bedroom, I go into my en-suite bathroom and have a quick shower making sure to double up on my Lynx, I'm pretty sure I didn't stink earlier and my brother was just being a d**k but I just wanna make sure, anyway, after having my shower, I dry off and get changed into some fresh clean clothes and do my hair.

Whilst I was getting ready, my house phone started to ring but I ignored it, no doubt it's my mother calling me for the umpteenth time since I beat my fathers lights out, rumours around the pack says she's furious with me but little does she know that my anger towards her and her husband is ten times as strong which is why I'm avoiding her because I know I won't be able to control myself if I go and see her.

After I'm done getting ready, I head downstairs and leave my house, the infirmary isn't too far away from my place so it doesn't take me long to get there.

"Good morning alpha, how are you?"

"I'm good thanks, Leah, have you seen Doctor Scott?"

"He's in surgery, I can page him if you like"

"No need, how's Natalia doing today?"

Leah's face drops, she looks away from me and focuses on her clipboard.

"She's made some improvement alpha but....she's still pretty much the same"

Damn.

"Ok thanks Leah, is anyone with her now?"

She shakes her head no.

"Her friends have just left, she's on her own"

"Ok"

I dismiss Leah and head over to Natalias room, I smiled brightly when I walked in and noticed the numerous flowers and cards that are scattered everywhere, she's really loved, my girl.

I take a seat next to Nat's bed and grab her hand entwining it with mine, I tell her all about my day and my plans to get revenge on whoever attacked us, I also expressed how happy and proud I am of her but also how angry I am with her, I was happy and proud that Natalia still cared enough for me to be scared of losing me or at least scared of seeing me hurt but I was also extremely angry with her for putting herself in a dangerous position just to save me especially since I don't deserve it.

I spent the rest of the day with Natalia just talking about anything and everything including us and all of the plans that I've made for our futures if she ever forgives me, I thought I would run out of things to talk about but funnily enough, I didn't, I just hope that somewhere deep in her consciousness she can hear every word that I'm saying and hopefully her heart warms a little towards me.
