Chapter 238 - Can I take her home?

The two days flew by very fast and in the blink of an eye, it was the day of Xu Lingxi's one month party.

Xu Lingxi was Xu Liaowen's long awaited daughter, Tangtang's beloved little sister, , Lu Shaoting's first goddaughter and, despite the almost four year age gap, Little Jia's future best friend.

As an affluent family, the Xu family had organized a very grand ceremony, almost as grand as Xu Liaowen's wedding years ago. They had invited many powerful figures that had clsoe relations with them. The Lu family had recieved invitations too. Lu Tongyan was very busy and only sent over a gift. Lu Aotian had initially not wanted to go but after being coaxed by his little princess to accompany her, he and Wan Jia were going too.

As usual, Wan Jia and Little Jia wore clothes of the same color. Little Jia walked out of her room in a purple princess dress, purple shoes and a diamond tiara on her head. She also had the dark purple pendant that she had previously asked Lu Aotian to buy. She ran to Lu Aotian and twirled around before him.

"Daddy, do I look as pretty as Princess Sofia?"

"My princess looks prettier than all other princesses." Lu Aotian said as he glanced at his cute daughter.

"Oh daddy!" she recieved the compliment with a warm bright color on her cheeks. She really loved a certain animated princess called Sofia, so she had dressed up like her.

Wan Jia, who had been dragged into wearing a purple gown, did not look as child-like as she had expected. Surprisingly, she was so much like an elegant queen that when she stood next to Lu Aotian and Little Jia, they looked like a noble king, his beautiful queen and their beloved princess. As expected of Lu Aotian's choice. He had selected and bought this gown for her.

"Don't you think we will steal the limelight from the Xu family?" she was worried when she looked at their appearances.

"We won't." Naturally, he knew that no matter how dashing they looked, they should not grab the limelight.

Little Jia shyly glanced up at her father and grabbed his hand. "The next time when I dress up as Princess Sofia, Daddy should dress as King Roland II and Mommy as Queen Miranda."

"Who are those?" Wan Jia asked.

"Sofia's parents. Oh right, Tangtang will have to dress up as Prince Hugo from the neighbouring kingdom." The little girl rambled on endlessly about her favourite characters.

"Let's get into the car." Wan Jia finally stopped her chatter. Since the little girl had persuaded her parents to attend the party too, Lu Shaoting did not pick her up. They would naturally meet at the venue.

...

Very soon, they arrived at the Xu family estate. Wan Jia saw Tangtang's parents and understood instantly why Lu Aotian was so confident that they would not steal the limelight. The couple were wearing a very bright red color, Tangtang was wearing a little red tuxedo too. He looked like a little prince. As expected, Little Jia's first reaction was to rush up to the cute little boy. "Tangtang! Did you miss me? Did you, did you?"

"Baby, aren't you going to say hi to Uncle Liaowen and Aunty Kara?"

Following her mother's reminder, Little Jia greted the Xu couple and instantly went back to hug Tangtang.

Tangtang wanted nothing more than to push Little Jia away but today was a happy occasion, so he tolerated her a little. Besides, his father always told him not to be mean to other kids. If he openly shoved her away, it would not end too nicely.

Tangtang peered beside Lu Aotian and Wan Jia as if looking for someone. "Where is Uncle Shaoting?"

Xu Liaowen smacked his head softly. "Xu Tang! Where are your manners? You should say hi to Uncle Aotian and Aunty Wan Jia." Tangtang scratched his head in embarassment. Then he looked up and smiled at Lu Aotian and Wan Jia. "Hello Uncle Aotian, hello Aunty Wan Jia."

"Hello Tangtang," Wan Jia rubbed his head. "Are you happy to be an elder brother?"

Tangtang nodded his head happily. "Lingxi will be the best little sister in the whole universe. I will protect her and make sure no one ever hurts her."

"Me too, me too. Will you protect me?" Little Jia asked naturally.

Tangtang nodded. "Uncle Shaoting said to treat you like my little sister, so I will protect you too."

The Xu family all had smiles on their faces. They led the Lu couple to the rest of the guests. Little Jia couldn't wait to see the baby. Xu Lingxi was currently being held by her paternal grandfather.

Little Jia ran over and stopped to study the baby carefully.

"A baby..." she gushed over in admiration. Her hands itched to touch her. She extended a finger a poked Xu Lingxi's tiny hands. The baby did not show any signs of dissatisfaction, she even blabbered out some inaudible sounds happily.

"Are babies so tiny?" Little Jia asked in surprise. The baby was so tiny that Little Jia was scared.

"Yes, babies are initially very small but they grow up with time." Xu Liaowen explained.

Little Jia smiled and continued watching the baby, once in a while touching her tiny hands and face.

"Uncle Liaowen, Can I take her home?"

The Xus and all the guests laughed.
