Chapter 324

Sungyoon’s hammer was stopped by Kevil’s hand. The hard scales covering its arm looked as if it was shining in the light.

Hoohng!

Kevil moved his tail. Sungyoon quickly retreated backward as he put up his shield.

Kwahnnng!

The sound was on a different level as it rang out.

Sungyoon’s body was like a dead leaf as he flew through the air.

Koo-oong!

“Koohk!”

“Ooh-ooht!”

Tim caught Sungyoon’s body, which was flying through the air. A harsh sound rang out when their armors collided with each other.

Tim slid backward for a while as his feet created a deep divot.

“Thank you.”

“Your welcome.”

Sungyoon was placed on the ground. Thankfully, both of them had come out pretty much unscathed.

“He powered up when he was in danger. Isn’t that a trope that shows up in movies or novels for the main characters?”

Tim spoke jokingly towards Sungyoon.

“If this world was a novel, they might be the main characters, and the humans might be the main antagonists.”

“I can guarantee such a novel won't sell well. It’ll go straight to a warehouse or the dumping ground. Who would want to read a novel like that?”

“Who knows what will sell well or not? It might become a cult hit for a certain segment of the population.”

Grace, who had approached them, took up their conservation.

Emily had come up alongside Grace, and she checked if the two men were showing any signs of injury.

“Thankfully, the two of them are fine.”

“I’m quite sturdy. I would have to give up raiding the Great Labyrinth if I’m injured by a blow of that magnitude.”

As Tim spoke those words, he raised his shield again.

Kevil was slowly approaching them.

“The power behind his attacks are no joke. Will my shield be able to hold up against it?”

The overwhelming presence of his foe pressured Tim across his shield.

His shield had always been sturdy and reliable. It had been a while since his shield felt inadequate.

Sungyoon placed a hand on Tim’s shoulder.

“Let me fight him.”

“Are you sure you’ll be ok?”

“Yes. I still have plenty of power to spare.”

An unprecedented amount of power was being pumped out of his heart, and it was quickly circulating throughout his body. At times, he felt all-powerful.

‘Of course, I’m not that strong.’

He had barely blocked Kevil’s attack.

If Tim hadn’t caught him, he would have been sent flying further.

It was proof that he wasn’t all-powerful. However, it was also true that he was confident in his abilities.

Tuhk!

Sungyoon stood in front of Kevil. Kevil also stopped after he reached a certain distance to Sungyoon.

“Are you really going to face me alone?”

“Yes. I think it'll be possible.”

“Is that so?”

Kevil laughed. A smile appeared on his devil-like face. As expected, the smile looked out of place on his face.

However, his next action fit his profile.

“Then die!”

Hwah-roo-roo-roo-roohk!

The fire sword burned once again in Kevil’s hand.

However, it was different from before. The length and width of the sword grew much larger.

Sungyoon was standing at a distance, yet he could feel the heat. It was clear the temperature had gone up significantly.

Puhl-luhk!

Kevil flapped his wing, and his enormous body floated in the air.

Hoo-oohng!

He flew upwards, then he brought down the fire sword towards Sungyoon from up high.

The sequence of action happened very fast.

Sungyoon held his shield with both hands.

Kwahhhhhng!

The flames exploded. Sungyoon’s feet sank into the ground.

His body was surrounded by intense heat, but he had blocked the attack this time.

The complexion of Kevil’s face changed. He didn’t like the fact that Sungyoon had blocked his attack so easily.

While he kept pushing with his sword, he swung his tail.

Sssk!

Hwee-chung!

Sungyoon’s shield disappeared.

Kevil couldn’t pull back, so he lurched forward.

Sungyoon turned to the side to dodge the sword and tail. Then he swung his halberd.

Kevil’s wings moved.

Puh-uhnk!

The sharp horns attached to the wings aimed for Sungyoon, but Sungyoon was right on time as he deflected the wings with his halberd.

He used the momentum generated from the blow to retreat.

“Arms, legs, wings, and tail. You have a variety of ways you can attack me since you have a lot of appendages.”

“It is one of the many reasons why we are superior to humans.”

“I guess you guys determine superiority by how many appendages one has? I’ve met a monster with a lot of tentacles in the labyrinth. It must be superior to you. Was that the Grenoid? He was weaker than expected.”

Kevil ground his teeth once again.

‘Mr. Sungyoon is on his A-game today.’

Tim had been nervous as he prepared to be Sungyoon’s shield when he was needed. Tim was impressed by Sungyoon’s demeanor.

‘No matter what happens I must never fight against Mr. Sungyoon.’

In terms of strength and words, there was no way Tim could win against him.

“Today will be the last day you’ll be able to flap your mouth like this!”

“The Grenoid made a trash tentacle monster, and you are trashier than that monster! What can you do!”

Kwahhhhhng!

The two clashed once again.

Tim, Emily, and Grace wanted to help in the fight, but their attempts were for naught.

“…there is no opportunity for us to join in.”

Grace, who had been aiming at Kevil, lowered her staff.

“Is the battle too fast for you?”

“Yes. Is it the same for you too, Ms. Emily?”

At some point, Emily had lowered her two hands too.

“One needs to properly lock onto the target to use attack spells. If I’m not careful, I might harm Mr. Sungyoon.”

“Aim doesn’t matter since I have to be close to use the healing spell. My problem is the fact that I have to get in the middle of that fight.”

Their problems differed, but at the end of the day, both of them were of no help to Sungyoon in the fight.

“We can only wait and trust that Mr. Sungyoon can pull through.”

“We should also make preparations too.”

The two of them had their eyes fixed on the battle, and they made preparations. They would immediately move if Sungyoon needed them.

It was also true that it would be useless to worry more than it was needed, but Tim kept his shield up. He was ready to charge forward when Sungyoon was in danger.

Kwahhhhng!

Kevil’s fire sword clashed against Sungyoon’s sword.

Fire and lightning attacked each other. The two of them kept their swords locked to have a contest of strength.

“I can tell what you are thinking.”

Kevil taunted in front of Sungyoon’s face.

“You plan on dragging this out. You are waiting for your comrades to get here.”

It was true Kevil would be at a disadvantage if Sungyoon’s reinforcement came. Connectors like Russell and Bruce were troublesome foes even for Kevil.

“Why do you think you’ll be able to last that long? You are being too arrogant just because you can use my master’s power!”

Puh-uhk!

Kevil kicked towards Sungyoon with his foot.

Sungyoon blocked the kick with his elbow, and the force of the attack sent him sliding backward.

“I’ll just kill you before they come!”

Kevil’s fire sword burned hotter.

The ground rang as he charged towards Sungyoon.

“Even if you can use his strength, you are a lowly being! You cannot properly handle that power! I just regained a little bit of my power, yet you are losing! Just die!”

It was as Kevil had said. Sungyoon was putting up a good fight, but it was a losing battle for Sungyoon.

The flame sword swung towards Sungyoon to burn him.

Tuhk!

Sungyoon took a powerful step.

He just stared at the sword that was coming toward him.

Sssssk!

Sungyoon’s armor disappeared. Kevil became surprised.

‘What the hell…!’

Puh-uhhhhhhhk!

“Koo-oooooooooooh!”

Sungyoon clenched his mouth shut. He tilted his body, but he couldn't completely avoid the attack.

He hadn’t planned on dodging it.

Kevil’s sword pierced through his side.

The heat from the sword started melting his flesh outwards in the shape of a circle. It was clear that it was a critical wound.

However, he was a high rank Connector. It was very hard to kill a high rank Connector.

Duhp-suhk!

Sungyoon used his left hand to grab Kevil’s hard left arm.

Then he used his other hand to raise his ax.

“Ooh-ahhhhhh!”

As if he wanted to forget his pain, Sungyoon yelled out loud. His thoughts had turned white from the pain, and he used all his strength to bring down his ax.

Puh-uhhhhhhhk!

“Koo-ahhhhhhk!”

The ax embedded itself in Kevil’s shoulder.

However, Kevil was also a veteran.

He pushed through the pain as he caused a bigger flame to engulf his fire sword.

It felt as if Sungyoon’s body would combust in a flash.

Sssk!

Even if he wasn’t wearing his armor, he still had his wings. The wings unfurled as Sungyoon flew backward.

As soon as Sungyoon put some distance, the ax disappeared.

Kevil clutched at his shoulder.

“You…bastard…!”

Kevil was filled with anger as he tried to track down Sungyoon. However, Sungyoon’s sword hadn’t clashed against Kevil’s sword. It was Tim’s shield.

Tuh-uhng!

“GET OUT OF MY WAAAAAAAY!”

His anger filled fist kept pounding his shield, but Tim just gritted his teeth as he endured the attack.

At that moment, Emily had started healing Sungyoon.

His melted flesh regained its original appearance. The hole in his side was mended. His organs, bones, muscles, and skin returned to their original state.

Kwahhhhhng!

“Goo-oooohk!”

Kevil’s attacks finally broke through. Tim was sent flying backward.

Grace used this moment to hit Kevil with her spell.

Ooh-roo-roo-roong!

Lightning once again shot towards Kevil. The yellow lightning shook heaven and earth.

“Ggoo-hoohp!”

The spell hadn’t worked early, but that wasn’t the case this time around. Sungyoon had created an open wound, and the lightning flowed through the wound. It started to scramble Kevil’s innards.

“You fucking bastards!”

Kevil roared in anger as he ripped the lightning away. He tried to attack Sungyoon’s party. However, the first thing he saw after the lightning went away was the sharp halberd flying towards him.

Puh-uhng!

He quickly deflected the halberd. The halberd disappeared in the air.

Sungyoon once again stood in front of Kevil.

“Do you like the wound on your shoulder, you bitch?”

Sungyoon’s body had already recovered, and he wore his armor once again. He raised his sword.

“Let’s start the 2nd round!”

“You think you gained an upper hand because you wounded me once!”

“It isn’t just a wound?”

Sungyoon raised his ax. He playfully tossed it between his hands.

“How’s the poison? Normally, it would melt a normal monster. As expected of an officer, you are different.”

‘As expected, it is poison.’

Kevil narrowed his eyes. He noticed his wound was healing slower, and he was feeling more pain than usual.

The poison was doing its best in trying to reach deeper into his body.

‘I can get rid of this poison in short order.’

If he used his fire, poison was no threat to him.

He just had to burn the poison in his body, and he needed a little bit of time to do that.

However, Sungyoon wouldn’t give him the time.

“We knew you would power up in due time. We expected it, and it isn’t as if we did nothing in the meantime. We meticulously searched for locations where the magical energies pooled. We couldn’t find all the locations, but we had enough manpower to thoroughly search the sites where you might carry out your rituals. We knew you would be able to regain some of your power in a place like this.”

Sungyoon waved his arm. The flow of magical energy brushed against his arm.

“That is why the plan was supposed to buy enough time for reinforcement as you surmised. However, I don’t need to do that this time around.”

Sungyoon pushed off the ground.

In a flash, Sungyoon was in front of Kevil, and he was swinging his ax.

Koo-oo-oong!

“Koo-oohk!”

Kevil groaned.

Even if he was wounded, Sungyoon’s attack felt much heavier than before. Kevil was taken aback.

“Unlike you, I don’t regain my original power here like you. I receive a boost to my already existing power. Of course, I couldn’t use it properly in the beginning. I wasn’t used to it.”

A hammer appeared in Sungyoon’s other hand.

“I’m finally used to it now.”

Kwahng!

The explosive sound from the hammer shook the ground.
