32 Chapter 31
Dorry and Brogy both attacked me immediately and didn't care about the injuries from their previous fight. Despite their bigger size, they were pretty fast. Combined that with their Giant strength, and incredible teamwork makes them a very formidable duo.
With my speed, I was able to get to their blind spot and land a few hits in the beginning, but they adapted fast. The giants started covering for each other, and the worst part is the longer our fight continued, the more their teamwork improved.
Both of them are exceptional fighters and can create shockwaves with their stikes, but it seemed like they were holding back trying not to break their weapons. Even with my Observation Haki and speed, they managed to land a few hits on me with the shockwaves, when they started working together.
Since the fight was becoming harder, I slowly started to speed up my blood flow. Despite my increased speed, they were able to sense my attacks, either through pure instincts or Observation Haki.
Unfortunately for them, their already fragile weapons got destroyed in the fight. They had fought for over a hundred years using the same weapons. It's a surprise they were able to use them for so long fighting every day with them.
Despite losing their weapons, they weren't discouraged. Throwing them to the side, they continued fighting. Though with only blunt attacks, they are unable to hurt me, and the fight became an endurance test, or so I thought.
Initially, they were unable to damage me with just their fists, but after fighting for over an hour, they suddenly started hurting me with their punches. They managed to learn to use Armament Haki in our fight, proving that Giants are natural born fighters. Thankfully, they just acquired it and were not proficient with using Armament Haki.
Nonetheless, the fight was a stamina and endurance contest, which is my forte. After another hour of fighting, the giants collapsed exhausted on the ground. Despite being injured from their previous fight, they lasted for over two hours in our confrontation.
"I fell after you Brogy," Dorry spoke while panting.
"No, I lasted a second more than you did Dorry," Brogy responded to him while also grasping for air. They didn't stop competing even now.
"Wasn't it more fun fighting together, rather than fighting each other." I walked up to them with a big smile on my face. My body was slightly aching from their Haki infused attacks, but I was already recovering from that.
"Fighting together is fun, but losing isn't, Gegyagya." Even injured Dorry laughed it out.
"I can't believe that after a hundred years of fighting with no clear victor, we finally lost to a small human, Gabababa." Despite his words, Brogy didn't look mad at all.
I sat down next to them, while they started talking about how they used to fight together when they were captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates. They always used to compete against each other, but their quarrel started when a little girl had asked them, who had hunted the bigger game.
"To think our fight started because of a tiny human and it got settled by another small human, Gabababa." Brogy looked in a good mood while reminiscing about the old days.
"I wonder what has happened with our crew? They have probably returned to Elbaf." Dorry mused next to him.
"A promise is a promise. We will sail under you, but you have to promise us that we will visit Elbaf in the future. We can even get our old crew to join us if they are still interested." Brogy stated.
While we were talking, Vivi and Nojiko alongside, Ussop, Igaram, and Aisha came as well. Nami, Xander and Sanji had stayed back at the Going Merry to protect it, while the others had gone with Brogy when he stumbled upon them asking for some sake.
"We are going to Elbaf right Luffy?" The moment that was brought up, Ussop asked me with stars in his eyes.
"Of course we are, but that is in the second part of the Grand Line, so it will take some time before we reach there," I assured Ussop. After all, I couldn't wait to go there as well.
"But how are you planning to take us with you? I don't think we can fit in your small ship, Gegyagya." Dorry asked, but I don't think that's a problem.
"Well, we can't take you on the Going Merry, but with Nojiko here and with the enormous amount of wood in this jungle, I'm pretty sure we can make you a boat to travel alongside us," I told the giants with a smirk.
Nojiko's Wood Devil Fruit might not give her incredible attacking and defensive powers, but the versatility it brings to the table is something else. With the number of trees in this jungle, I'm pretty sure she will be able to create at least a boat for their size.
Remembering that I saw Nico Robin earlier, I told the group that I would go and explore something that I found. I also wanted to check out the Poneglyph that I saw and ask her to translate it for me. I made a clone and sent him to try and find Robin, while I made my way towards the wasp nest.
Going towards the nest, I managed to find Robin surrounded by over thirty wasps. She was using her Devil Fruit powers and was sprouting arms on them, but she wasn't able to kill them, due to their robust exoskeletons. With a burst of speed, I reached her and eliminated the wasps surrounding her in seconds. Robin seeing me take care of them with ease, had apprehensive expression while looking at me.
"Nice to meet you, Nico Robin. My name is Monkey D. Luffy." I waved at her with a smile. But the moment I said her name, I felt arms appear on my back and try to break my neck. Unfortunately, with my body having rubber properties, that did absolutely nothing to me.
"Hey don't be mean, I'm not your enemy." I tried fixing the situation.
"Reports suggest otherwise," Robin responded.
"If I meant you harm, I wasn't going to save you from the wasps." I felt her hold weaken for a second, but her grip tightened up again after that.
"And why did you do that?" Robin asked me.
"I'm not going to leave someone to die when I can save them. And I also wanted to ask you to join my crew." I saw the surprise in her eyes, but she still didn't let go.
"Why would you ask me that, when you know who I am?" She looked slightly intrigued, but vigilant nonetheless.
"Well, to begin with, I'm also interested in the Void Century. The World Government has erased too much information from that era, and I want to know why." Robin finally released her grip on my neck with shock in her eyes.
"I also don't believe Crocodile will protect you from the World Government after you translate the Poneglyph in Alabasta. As a sign of good will, I will tell you that what you are looking for is not there. It only speaks about one of the three Ancient Weapons." I told her.
"Ho-how do you know this?" Robin asked me with astonishment.
"It doesn't matter how, but I will prove it to you by bringing you there," I told her with sincerity.
"And why would I trust you to do so? You could sell me out to the Marines in exchange for them removing your bounty." Robin asked me.
"Shishisi, that will never work. With my heritage, they will remove my bounty only when I'm dead." Robin looked confused at my statement but didn't get the chance to ask me why.
"Look, I mean you no harm and I was even able to find a Poneglyph on this island. To show you my good will, I will help you get to it because you wouldn't be able to reach it alone." I tried persuading her.
"I know there is one here, but why do you think I won't be able to reach it?" Robin asked me.
"It's in their nest, and I don't think you can deal with all of them and their Queen." I pointed towards the wasps.
"I still don't trust you," Robin stated.
"I'm aware, you've been through a lot, but I will prove it to you that I mean you no harm. Follow me I will show you the way." I told her and started making my way towards the wasp nest.
Robin was walking a few meters behind me, clearly not trusting me. She didn't say anything on the way and looked prepared to run away at any moment.
After walking for about twenty minutes, we were able to see the wasp nest in the distance. The nest is built using a cave on a mountainside as a foundation. It was a few hundred meters tall with wasps going in and out of it. Those going in were all carrying prey that was smaller than them.
"I found the Poneglyph there," I told Robin while pointing at the nest.
"How do you plan with dealing with all of them, there must be thousands of them there." She looked scared from seeing so many of them.
"Shishisi, don't worry about that. I promised you to get you to the Poneglyph, and I never go back on my promises. All I ask from you is to trust me and not run away. If you do that, I will be back shortly, and I will lead you to the Poneglyph." I told Robin with a grin and jumped towards the nest.
With my speed, I was able to get to their blind spot and land a few hits in the beginning, but they adapted fast. The giants started covering for each other, and the worst part is the longer our fight continued, the more their teamwork improved.
