251 Brayden 2

Crystal rushes to Brayden's room not even waiting for the nurses to say if it was ok. Her chest feels heavy when she sees him. All she sees is Brayden laying there hurt , slowly she walks to his bed and climbs in it with him. Kissing his forehead her tears falling uncontrollably. Crystal lays her head on his shoulder and closes her eyes. Almost instantly she is asleep. Winona knew that they were close but they are getting to an age where this is not appropriate. She starts to go and wake up Crystal when John stops her and motions for her to follow him. "I know that her sleeping beside him is not appropriate but I don't think she is just sleeping. Her emotions have been on overdrive since she heard he was hurt. I have a feeling she is dream walking to keep him here. Those two have a bond that most could not understand but we know how they are, they became connected to moment they met. Now is it that they are soulmates or just that they are meant to be like siblings. They will have to figure that out as they get older. For now let her do what she needs to for Brayden's sake. They have a love that can overcome anything." John looks at his daughter in law knowing that she has always kept a part of herself aloof and separate. He had always hoped that she would open up but alas she has not. Winona looks up at her father in-law s face seeing the love he has for her son has always warmed her heart so she just nods ok. They watch the children sleeping through the glass window. The nurse comes over and starts to go inside. She sees Crystal laying with Brayden and grunts in disapproval. Winona rolls her eyes and tells her. "Leave them be , she is exactly what my son needs to get better. They are family and he would be lost without her. She is to stay be his side till he is better. Make sure no one bothers her, I know that her laying beside him is against the rules but I am giving permission." The nurse looks at her and gets haughty. "I know he is your son but we still have rules and those have to be obeyed. You cannot change them." Winona smiles as she hears a voice behind the nurse. "Winona love I came as soon as I heard what happened. How is my nephew doing?" A tall gentleman who looks similar to Winona walks up behind the nurse. Hearing the chief of staff speaking so to the woman surprised her. "He will be ok now I think he has his other half with him. I was just telling the nurse to leave them be that with out Crystal,Brayden would be lost. That it's ok fir her to do whatever she wants because it will only help him." Winona looks at her brother hoping he will not cause a problem. He looks into the room and sees the two children sleeping and smiles. "So that is her, my nephew has great taste in girls. I know how he feels about her so I will allow it. If it will bring him comfort whatever he needs. So if the swelling around the spine goes down by the morning we can do surgery. Since I am his uncle I cannot perform it. I have called to see if Dr People's could but I was informed he is out of town." Winona looks at him and asks "You were going to ask Astila to perform the surgery but he is a cardiologist and is related to My husband." Winona informs her brother. "Really I had not realized that he was related to Marshal. I was going to ask him because of his work in neurology at the university. He has a technique that will work amazingly for what needs to be done for Brayden. One of the staff surgeons knows how to do it but I wanted the best." Her brother goes to pick up his phone. John clears his throat and tells him. "Astila can be here by the morning, I'm sure that he will be willing to do it. He loves that boy like a son and it will not be the first time he has had to operate on a family member. I'm sure that since they are not blood related that no one can take issue with it. Brayden deserves to have the best of everything and if Astila is the best then he will have him." John pulls his phone out and calls Astila. Handing the phone to the Doctor for him to speak. Astila answers the phone"Hey uncle John how is Brayden?""Dr People's this is Doctor Chavez and I was wanting to discuss with you about Brayden. He is my nephew so I cannot with confidence perform his surgery. It hard enough seeing him lay there I'm not sure how I will react operating on him. The procedure that needs to be done is one you helped develop while in the university and I was hoping you would do it. I understand that you are close to him but John assured me that you would be able to." dr Chavez tells him holding his breath. Astila looks at Yona since he had his phone on speaker for all to hear. Yona looks at his brother and tells him to go. "I will be there as soon as I can. Take care of our boy till I arrive." Astila hangs up and looks at his watch. Moll begins to laugh. "You silly boy did you forget that you have me here. I taught your wife everything she knows I can have you home in a few seconds. Though I suggest in a few hours maybe better as to not have to make to many explanations. You go and get your things ready don't worry about your mom Inola and Yona can take care of it. Salali will be here tomorrow so go take care of our baby Brayden." Astila gets his keys and heads to the house to get his suitcase. Woya looks heartbroken because he didn't even say goodbye. Inola sees her face and scoffs. "You expect them to forgive you and cater to you after you abandoned them. He has watched over that boy for the last eight years. I would be disappointed in him if he did not go. The only reason we are not rushing out is because like it or not you are something we have to deal with. " Woya glares at her brother in law but not saying anything to him. Moll looks at her husband and scolds him. "Ya suger bear, you need to cut her some slack we do not know what she went through or how things are going to work out. Just leave things as they are for now. We need to be praying for Brayden and hope that things will be ok. Once we know Brayden is ok then we can try to work on the relationship between mother and children. I'm sorry Woya but Brayden's well being comes first. He is a child that is precious to us and everyone is a little worried for him now. So don't take things to personally for now." Moll stands and heads to the kitchen to start lunch. Saying a little prayer for patience and for Brayden.

Dude is at Marshal's bar waiting for him. when Marshal walks in he asks. 

"Anything come up at the track?" Marshal looks at his cousin hoping he has uncovered something. 

"Yeah but your not going to like it. It turns out that this man was in the stable where Brayden's horse was. Do you recognize him?" Dude hands the picture to Marshal. It's a picture of the mobster's bodyguard from when he went after Grove. He looks at Dude as anger fills him. 

"this is one of the mobsters that was involved with Grove. I will give Eva a call and talk to her husband. She could be in danger so we need to have him up to speed. I will call Yona and let him know to keep an eye out fir trouble." Marshal sits and stares at the photo , slamming his fist on the counter he curses. It's his fault something he did all those years ago hurt his son. He will get this man and put him behind bars again. Dude watches his cousin and decides to give him some space. He leaves and goes back to the track to take another look around. He decides to take Noah and Opal with him. He is sure they will be able to find something. 

Meanwhile at the hospital Crystal is still sleeping the haze between darkness and dreams is clearing and she can see Brayden that morning arriving at the stables. Looking around she begins to take note of everything so that she can remember when she wakes up. She needs to find out if this was an accident or if someone tried to hurt Brayden.
