18 The Freshers' Welcome Party 8
Before Aaron or Lili could say anything, Genea once again snapped this time at Aaron .
"Look the Mr. here. You must have already understood that this stupid girl is quite infatuated on you."
"Genea, stop. What nonsense are you spouting?" , Lili panicked on listening where Genea was taking the conversation and blushed even more.
"No Lili, let me finish. Your Aaron doesn't know how much you have been hurt by every person who has come across you. He doesn't know how much pained and crippled you are for that. So he must know that if he is one of those who play..."
"I wow to love, protect and cherish her faithfully as long as we both shall live."
As Aaron's majestic voice resounded in the narrow corridor, Lili and Genea stood gaping at Aaron.
Did he..did he just.. confess?
He confessed to me.. right?
Lili stood in a daze looking blankly at Aaron.
But why did the words sound so normal as if he was stating the obvious?
And this strange familiarity again...
Why do I feel like these words have already been told to me for several times before.
The words sounded like music to Lili's ears as overwhelming feelings of love and trust brimmed Lili's mind.
"You better keep your word."
Genea spoke once again, once she was woken up from her shock.
Then God knows what happened, Genea suddenly turned around and left Aaron and Lili alone.
But as both Lili and Aaron were quite preoccupied with the quick succession of events, they took some time to process Genea's departure and so, neither of them stopped her.
-
Aaron stood still while looking at Genea's figure getting smaller and smaller as she walked farther away.
Genea seemed to be taking my relationship with Lili quite well.
But isn't she supposed to try and scheme to separate us?
And just now.. she seemed genuinely worried for Lili. She even stood up to voice Lili's thoughts and fought for Lili's happiness by cautioning me.
Maybe she really doesn't remember her last life and cares about Lili?
Maybe it is just me being paranoid?
After all Lili and Genea have been friends for quite some time now and they really seem to be in good terms.
"Please don't... mind h..er. S-she sometimes becomes a bit... paranoid."
Aaron was brought back to reality when the soft whispers of Lili rang as music in his ears.
He looked down towards her and smiled softly.
"No, I didn't mind her. Rather I am somewhat grateful towards her", Aaron said as he gently patted Lili's head.
"What do you mean?", asked Lili while looking up at Aaron with her big round eyes but immediately dropped her head down as probably, she understood the meaning of Aaron's words.
Their sweet encounter was cut short as the shrill sound of the bell was heard marking the end of the recess.
" Looks like we have to put up with the following classes with an empty stomach", Aaron said with great amusement which had almost reached his voice.
As if the heavens had decided to embarass Lili again, just after Aaron finished speaking, a soft rumble could be heard from Lili's stomach.
Lili blushed harder as her eyes darted here and there in an attempt to avoid Aaron's gentle and loving eyes.
Aaron sighed softly as he put his hand inside his bag to find the muffin he had placed inside the bag that morning.
"Here. Have this", Aaron said as he gave the muffin to Lili.
"Noooo nooo I'm fin.."
"Eat or you will have a stomach ache later."
Aaron's voice this time was laced with a bit of authority, which caused Lili to shut her mouth and take the muffin obediently. After all, she herself knew how bad stomach aches she has when she skips meals.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Let's go now or else we'll be late."
Aaron looked at Lili as neither of them took the first step.
