9 First Day at The Senior Secondary 9

"Hey, hey, hey.. it's okay, it's okay."

Aaron opened his eyes as he felt soft palms pressed on his lips.

He looked up to find a tender face, that familiar tender face looking at him worriedly, her palm still on his lips.

"It seems your bad sleeping position and all these mosquitoes over here made you have a really terrible night mare." Lili's tender voice ringed in his ears once again which stirred the deep feelings in his innermost part.

His vision got clouded as fresh tears pooled up in his eyes.

He slowly lifted his arms and cupped her face. He brought her face closer to his, his eyes full of sorrow and guilt.

"I am sorry Eva. I am sorry.."

Tears rolled down his face which he didn't seem to notice.

"I couldn't protect you, I failed. Failed as a husband, failed as a father. I couldn't fullfill my promise to you. All that happened to you is because of me. I don't deserve you Eva. But I.. I really love you Eva, really really love you."

He sobbed like a child as he mumbled to Lili.

He seemed so burdened with guilt, a guilt which traced back to a million years ago.

He lifted his lips up to her forehead and gently kissed her, like he was kissing a coveted and delicate little petal.

As he did so, more tears rolled down his cheeks and dropped on Lili's palms which were placed on his chest.

He then lowered his head to look at her face once again.

He met with her gaze which was of shock and puzzle, her eyes wide as if she is trying to figure out what just happened.

That is when realisation dawned into him and his heart felt a blow of a hurricane of emotions.

He then quickly withdrew his hands.

He found himself completely soaked in sweat. He tried to get up but encountered with an excruciating pain from his back for his bad sleeping position.

Checking the surroundings, he found it was night.

When I had come, it was still broad daylight. Now it is dark like midnight.

For how long have I slept?

He then struggled for a while and eventually could get up. He then looked down near his feet to find the girl still sitting there, without any changes in her expression, looking blankly at him.

He contemplated for sometime and then held out his hand.

Lili still in a daze, got hold of his hand and stood up on her feet.

Once she was standing, Aaron did not waste any more time, turned around and just left.

Lili continued to stand there for a long time staring at the direction towards which he had left.

She tried to assemble her thoughts and put them in order but couldn't make it through the job.

After a long time, when she finally regained her composure, she slowly walked towards her dorm.

Not far away, a pair of eyes which had witnessed the whole thing unfold staired at them viciously, the need for revenge gradually covering them.

"So they are getting... close.

Pffttt.. somebody said, that history...repeats itself.

The man was really blessed to say such real words."

When Aaron had left the cafeteria in the afternoon, his feelings were quite complex.

He is never interested in eating in crowded places but that day, just to be in the same place as of hers, he made his way to the cafeteria.

But he made sure that she doesn't notice him so he sat far away from her.

He sneaked glances every now and then, and observed her sit peacefully, looking outside the window.

But then, when his eyes caught sitght of a boy, making his way to her seat, his gaze froze.

He saw the boy trying to initiate a conversation with her.

He also saw she wanted to avoid him.

His heart felt a deep sting of jealousy and he immediately wanted to drive the boy off.

This boy, he came after her in this life too?

Must history really repeat itself?

Just when he was about to get up, he stilled as he thought back to his resolutions.

No Aaron, you can't do this.

She had given her everything to you. But what did you give in return.

You couldn't even keep the very basic promise of a life partner of protecting her. You killed her along with your baby in her.

He chided himself and decided not to go near her.

But the next moment, his gaze froze again.

This girl, isn't she the girl who was the wife of Martin and the main conspirer behind the misunderstandings between me and Martin?

As realisation dawned into him, initially he was frightened as hell.

But then, his fear changed to rage and his eyes got covered with a frosty glare and contempt.

Fearing he would be too obvious too read, he quickly regained his nonchalance and hurried out of there.
