5 First Day at The Senior Secondary 5
I clearly didn't do anything, especially nothing to make him angry.
In fact, I don't even know him.
Yet why does it seem like he is glaring at me?
Even after racking her brain for a long time, Lili couldn't find a possible explanation to the boy's sudden fury.
On the other hand, the boy seemed to be burning in rage as his gaze shifted from Lili to Genea and then back to Lili.
After some time, though Genea was terrified, her composure found its way back to her and she tried to follow the line of the boy's gaze to find a possible explanation for his rage.
It was then she realised, that he wasn't glaring at her but at the seat she was sitting on.
Strange.
What can a seat possibly do to a person to attract so much fury towards it?
-
They didn't know for how long they had sat over there, dumbstruck by some total stranger's anger and locked into someone's burning red eyes.
Then suddenly, everything was back to normal.
The guy who was glaring just a fraction of a second before seemed completely unfazed by their presence and didn't seem to show any expressions on his face, as if nothing at all had happened.
Then he just got up from his seat, turned towards the door and left.
Even more strange.
Both Lili and Genea blinked in confusion and then looked at each other.
They were both silent but it felt like both of them were communicating. It was like, they asked each other- " What on earth was that?"
Genea: "Do you know him?"
Lili: "I saw him in my class"
There was a little tint of an inexplicable anxiety in Lili's voice which was the manifestation of her inner turmoil, a turmoil which was completely new to her.
Lili was sixteen so she naturally had multiple crushes in the secondary. Her infatuations were more often than not reciprocated but as she always maintained a distance from everybody, neither did she have someone to talk about them nor did she let any of the boys make advances towards her.
So the uneasiness from the attraction between two people was nothing new to her.
But this time, she felt..weird.
Firstly, she felt a complete stranger to be someone very close to her.
Secondly, the stranger could induce so many conflicting thoughts and raging emotions in her without doing anything in particular.
She was confused.
Genea thought Lili's anxiety to be a result of their weird encounter with the mysterious boy, so she didn't think of Lili's answer much.
"He must be some weirdo. Don't think about him", coaxed Genea.
"Yeah, must be so".
Lili was strangely disappointed by Genea calling the boy a 'weirdo'.
He might had seen something unusual in here for him to react in that way.
And later on, perhaps he had thought that he should not poke his nose about other's matters and so he just..left.
He might be different, but is it really necessary to call him by such names?
Wait, why am I defending someone I hardly know, that too just by the face?
I mean, I didn't even talk to him for once. I don't even know his name.
Again Lili found her heartbeat getting faster and her stomach tickling.
"What class do you have now?"
"..."
"Oyeee..I am talking to you!"
Genea waved her palm in front of Lili's eyes which brought her back to the reality.
"Yeah yeah.. I'm listening"
"Yes, I know you are"
Genea rolled her eyes to which Lili let out a chuckle.
Then Genea continued to chatter and Lili listened to all of them patiently.
Yes,Lili had immense patience to chattering when it comes to Genea, which made her question her own weird actions.
Thinking of which, he was a 'weirdo', she could also be called the same right?
Lili blushed for a nanosecond on this thought which luckily escaped Genea's eyes.
-
After they finished their lunch, they bid each other fairwell and left for their respective classes.
Once seated, Lili searched the whole classroom to find that handsome face which had caught hold of her heart.
But disappointment clouded her when she couldn't find him, not on his seat, not anywhere in the classroom.
Where could have he possibly gone?
He is just new in this school as me, he doesn't know many places in the campus right?
Maybe he didn't choose to stand in front of the gate for long and rather loitered around to find the places of his interest.
Lili then laughed at her own self silently, thinking about her actions and thoughts.
Really boy, as said before, you can really induce so many thoughts and feelings in her by just not attending classes in the second half.
In fact, I don't even know him.
