28 Second Chance
[A/N : This is still Stevan's POV so if i say "I" it means Stevan and not Vulop]
"Wha..what do you, esteemed one mean by a second chance?" I asked the man politely, scared of angering him
"I will heal your wounds and possibly make you stronger, rise your family to the top once more and make you live in peace for 20 years, but you need to accept my condition." The man said, offering me an offer that i just can't see as a lost for me.
"What condition if i may ask" I asked
"Easy, take these two babies, they're both girls and i want you to raise both of them in here, Astria Kingdom, until they're both 20 years old without telling them that they have phoenix's bloodline residing inside them and make them feel like you're their real parents, in those 20 years i'll make your foster son busy and not able to make any moves on you again.
"Don't worry, as long as you don't reveal to anyone that they're phoenix's descendants, you won't get any problems."
His conditions are really easy for us, i can get my powers back and rise to the top again just by raising 2 childrens.... it seems like a too good of a deal, it seems suspicious but i can't pry into it too much since it probably won't benefit me, at all.
Without thinking again, i accepted the offer, the man then hands me a pill, he said that it's a healing pill, i just need to use it to heal my wounds and possibly have an increase of power, i immediately swallowed the pill and slowly my wounds are getting closed, me and Almira are really shocked by this development...
The man then gave both babies to our embrace and reminds me that i can't do any harm to both of the girls or me and Almira will immediately die, and before he left he gave us basic information about phoenix's descendants, including that phoenix's descendants are really conservative and their names. He turned back into a phoenix and left towards the sky....
We sat at the throne dazed, while both of the babies started crying.... the cries woke us up from the daze and we finally got up ans started taking care of them..
From that point onwards, things only go for the better, the 2 noble families who attacked us somehow pledge their allegiance to us and made a contract that stated 20% of their earning will be received by us for 20 years, and when an attack arrives in front of our door, both family will directly send their powerhouses to help...
That's only the start of our growth, well, it doesn't really concern you so i won't tell you about it any further. Both of the girls slowly grows, little by little, getting prettier by the year, and finally we arrived at this time.
We never mistreated both of them not just because of the threat that the man gave us, but because we started loving them ever since day one, they were really cute and precious to us, with the 20% earnings we got from both noble families, i could give them more resources to help them grow, but it seems that they're not as talented as Ray.....we were pretty confused why they're not as talented or more than ray, they should've phoenix, a legendary creature bloodline inside them.
We haven't told them and just waited for the 20 year time limit. It has been 18 years since then, now they were 18 years and 2 months old... in a little more than a year they will probably be taken back by the man and when that time arrives, I don't know what else will i do, i got no successor, i guess when the time comes i'll just live a simple life by the countryside with my wife...." Stevan ended his story while gazing upwards and eyes full of serenity.

' I never thought that the backstory of both of them is this deep and complicated, betrayed by their own son, meeting a real phoenix, doing a favor..... it's unbelievable.' I thought to myself
"So that's how, but i still don't get why the phoenix left both Angel and Aurel to your care, they certainly have better chance to make them stronger if they took care of them by theirself" i asked confusedly
"i also don't know why but they certainly have their own reason for doing this, but it doesn't concern us, phoenixes lived in a world higher than ours, the man is most likely stronger than the current black empress, maybe even a tier above her.." Stevan answered with a confused tone too
"Anyway, i told you all of this so that you won't mistreat them in any way, if you do, don't be scared of my anger, be scared of a phoenix's wrath." Stevan continued warning me
"But, why do you engage one of them to Jack, i mean your family is strong enough now to refuse it." I asked while remembering the past events
"Oh that? that was actually just a show for us, we staged the marriage when both of them reached the age of 25 so it's pretty impossible for them to get married, as for why i accepted it, its because the one who proposed the marriage, Jack's family's head or his father is the brother in law of Black Empire's No.3 Noble family so i can't just say no, well it isn't really a loss for us to accept it."
I thought about it for a bit and just accepted his explanation, it fulfilled my curiosity so i won't pry into it more. Stevan then said that we're done here and i should leave since he wanna talk to his wife, i said Ok but before i left i asked him about Angel's pet, the big puppy, he told me that i can get one for 60 golds in a pet shop, it isn't a battle pet so its pretty cheap, i kinda want to buy it and raise it for myself and Agnes but it'll just die if i can't protect it in the wilderness so i just made a decision.
I'll pet Angel's puppy until i'm fully satisfied since i probably won't ever get a chance to do it ever again!
I left the room and asked the maid standing in front of the dining room, i think every room have at least 1 maid guarding the door, my god. I asked her where is Angel's room and she led the way for me, we arrived at a familiar door, i knocked on the door while the maid went back to the dining room.
A few seconds later i heard Aurel's voice asking who is it, i answered "It's me, Vulop" of course. A few seconds later, the door opened and i could see Angel wearing a cute pajamas while hugging the dog... at that moment i was charmed!
