119 Chapter 118
Richard moved to the terrace that was adjacent to the throne room. He squinted his eyes as his vision became clearer. Though he couldn't see the army that was coming from the east, he could still feel their presence. He shut his eyes and concentrated, as his aura spread in all directions.
'The last time I was out of the castle Henry was able to penetrate it easily with his magic, but now..' Richard was upset with his mistake from the last war. He left his castle almost unguarded and gave chance to the humans to attack sneakily. Even though he managed to kill all the knights, he still felt their power. They were strong, or else, that attack would have been a failure from the start.
'There they are.' His lips lifted upwards, as he detected the werewolves from the north. Even though they tried to hide their presence, it was useless. The aura of another Demon Lord amongst them was just like a beacon.
'Roth was never good at hiding.' He opened his eyes, the anticipation for the battle visible in them. He liked to be challenged. Even though Richard never clashed with Roth before, he was sure that it would be an exciting battle.
'Next.'
With a wave of his hand, shadows stretched forward, as the block of ice that was shielding Lyse showed itself. There was already a magic formation on the spot where it was spreading around endlessly.
'And I still forgot to tell her about that. Well, it's already done.' Richard smiled to himself, musing upon the reaction Erin would have once Lyse was freed from the ice.
'Oh, it seems like Erin is almost here.' He turned around and left the terrace, going for the entrance of the throne room. In a few moments, he could already see Erin and her blood slaves.
"Let's move to the walls and greet our visitors." He took the lead and walked in the direction of the gates. Erin and the others followed closely after him, as no one said anything. His troops were already stationed on the walls, as the other inhabitants were hiding in their houses.
There were only some patrolling soldiers that could be seen. The atmosphere all around was tense, as everyone anticipated the battle. In a few minutes, the group reached the walls.
Richard observed Erin. He could sense her uneasiness. He reached out and put his hand on her shoulder, only to feel her whole body stiffening.
"Nervous?" He asked. Erin relaxed, not trying to push his hand away. That made him happy. At least, it was a good sign that she didn't resist the touch.
"I-"
She started but shut her mouth a moment later. He could see that she was thinking about something, as her expressions changed a few times. Finally, she nodded.
"Don't worry. We will win this." He smiled, ruffling her hair.
"Stop!" Erin protested as she glared at him. He could see her cheeks reddening. She took a deep breath while taking a step to the side, moving away from him. That made him a bit disappointed.
"Look, the humans have arrived." Erin pointed forward, as more and more people started to emerge from the fog. She was panicking. On the one hand, she wasn't sure what to think about this war. On the other, the touch from Richard just now made her mind blank for a moment.
Her feelings were in a disarray, as she tried hard not to think about Richard. Still, she felt a bit of warmth when he tried to reassure her. She looked at the people who emerged, as they arranged themselves in rows. Shield bearers were in the front and their armor glistened.
They had drawn swords already, and she could see soldiers with spears and axes, too. Most of them wore the same armor, but some groups had more freedom in their choice of clothing. They wore leather armor and had a variety of weapons. At the back, she could see a cavalry as well. The whole formation of the soldiers was as long as she could see with her eyes, while more and more strode forward from the gloomy forest.
Erin felt like they were countless. Unexpectedly, they stopped their progress a few hundred meters away from the walls, as horns blew all around. All the troops fixed their formations while waiting for instructions.

She felt this was like watching a big war machine, ready to take action. The whole place fell in silence, as both sides looked at each other. The horns blew once more. Erin felt fluctuations of magic from the back of the army and squinted her eyes, trying to see its source. She could see two magicians there, preparing to cast spells.
"Henry!"
Richard called from next to her. She felt ripples from a few hundred meters away, but still on the wall. Looking at that direction, she saw the mage starting to cast a spell as well. There were a few others around him that chanted their spells in synchronization with him. A few moments later, a huge barrier manifested in front of the walls.
The opposing magicians were ready with their magic as well, as the earth shuddered and huge blocks from it started to float, changing into huge earth spears. Afterward, they shot forward in the direction of the walls. In no time at all, those spears hit the barrier. There were some fluctuations, but the barriers stayed strong.
More spears followed the first round. A few minutes later, there was a whistling sound, as huge boulders rocketed on the barrier. She traced their origin and saw twenty catapults at the back, as the soldiers tried to load them once again.
"Henry, start attacking! Leave the barrier to your subordinates!" Richard's voice boomed through the castle. Erin fixed her gaze at the magician once again, waiting to see what he would do. After a few moments of chanting, a huge inferno rolled out from him, drowning everything in its path in flames. In no time at all, the inferno reached the first line of soldiers, but once again, a barrier manifested and stopped the flames.
Both sides were still, as the mages and catapults exchanged their attacks. It was like racing against time and will, as they waited for one of the barriers to fall. Erin felt mesmerized from the spells that the mages cast against each other.
"How long will that continue? Aren't you going to join?" She asked. Erin wanted to see Richard in battle, as he never showed his full powers in front of her. Richard's lips curved upwards, as he looked at her.
"I have to preserve my powers. There would be an opponent for me in a bit." He said, pointing to another section of the forest. Erin was confused but still looked in that direction. Suddenly, she heard howls, as the whole earth shuddered from the moving of another force. In a few more moments, kobolds, trolls, and other races broke through the forest, marching in the direction of the castle. At the back, she could see the werewolves as well. A huge pressure descended on her, but it was gone in the next moment.
Erin looked to the side, watching as Richard unleashed his aura. The grin on his face was an indicator of the desire for the battle that awaited him. Erin gulped, as she wasn't sure if they could repel two armies simultaneously. And the aura that she felt wasn't a bit weaker than Richard's.
