21 Chapter 21

I ran to the gates to see the dragons that had just landed.

"Hey wait! STOP!!"

The two guards at the front had angled their spears to make a cross in front of the gate. I decided it would be in my best interest not to make an enemy of more guards... There was a small line at the gate of about 10 people and two horse-drawn carts. I stood at the back as it slowly shuffled forwards towards the entrance. When there were about three people in front of me I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see who it was.

"Hey, you're not from around here are you?"

It was an older looking guy maybe mid-thirties. He had brown hair and blue eyes with slight stubble scattered around his face. He was wearing a silver chest plate and had a giant sword on his hip.

"Huh? How did you know?"

He let out a chuckle "Just look around you..."

I didn't notice before but the women in front of me had what looked like rabbit ears and the man in front of her had a lions head. I looked to the guards and then noticed they had long pointed ears. "Elves?" I said underneath my breath.

"Yup Welcome to Graecia. It's basically a safe haven for everything not human. But I must ask what brings a human here?"

"Well um... I'm kind of a bit lost..."

Before I knew it I was at the front of the line.

"You human!" The guard pointed towards me.

"Me?" I pointed towards myself.

"Yes! Show me your papers."

"Papers? I don't understand..."

"If you don't have any then leave. We don't want your kind here."

My kind? What does he mean?

I felt a hand on my shoulder again. It was that guy again.

"He is with me."

The guard stood for a few seconds looking at him. "I see... Of course, he is. Ok, you will take responsibility for him unless he becomes a citizen."

"Fine by me. You won't get me into trouble will you?"

"Um no."

"Then come on before they get mad."

I turned to see the guard scowling at me.

The city was beautiful the buildings were all carved from solid stone and were polished until they shined. I was stunned at the beauty of this place.

"You ok back there?"

"yeah."

"Oh I didn't introduce myself did I? Well I'm Roland. And you are?"

"Yuki."

"So Yuki what do you want to see first?"

"Actually the only reason I came here is that I saw dragons land here."

"Ohh sure if you just head straight you will find the palace and also that is where the dragons land. If you need anything I will be here." He pointed towards a large building on its own with a sign above the doors ( Adventurers Guild).

"Ok sure."

I walked straight towards the palace after about five minutes of walking and avoiding bumping into the masses of people I reached the palace. Well almost. There was a huge iron gate all the way around it. I looked for an entrance but I couldn't find one.

"Should I? Fuck it."

I crouched down preparing myself. I drove my legs down into the ground beneath me and jumped to clear the gate. It must have been about twenty meters. I landed with a bit more force than I planned for and stumbled a little when I hit the floor.

The air became thick and I felt a pressure pushing down on me followed by a loud sound rhythmically moving above me releasing gusts of wind towards me. There was a loud crash and then followed by a roar. I turned around to see that a white dragon with gold armor had landed behind me.

Within seconds I heard the sound of armor clanging and when I looked around I was surrounded by guards.

I faced the guards and put up my hands to show that I am no threat to them. They stopped moving towards me. I heard a light thud on the ground behind me. My instincts were telling me to move I took a step to my left when I felt the wind blow past the side of my head with incredible force. I turned around to see a female guard with her sword where my head just was.

"You dodged that? Ok now tell me what you are doing here and don't lie!"

"Um well... I just wanted to see the dragons."

"You foolish human." A deep voice boomed from behind her.

I looked at the dragon. His eyes became wide as he noticed.

"You heard me?"

"I didn't know dragons could speak."

"And I didn't know humans could hear me speak... His eyes widened once more. Please forgive me!" He lowered his head slightly The gained the attention of the guards as they looked towards me.

"Who said you could speak to my partner!?" Another swing of her sword came towards me horizontally giving me just enough time to duck.

"MASTER STOP!" The dragon let out a thunderous roar as a purple ring appeared around his neck. The guard had a purple ring around her neck as she stopped dead in her tracks.

"Fine..." She sighed "You can go now..." She ran up the dragons leg and jumped on top of him before taking off into the sky.

The guards all looked all looked at me with there jaws hanging open. I decided to take my leave and jumped back over the gate. After all, I did what I set out to do. But why did he ask for forgiveness?

Well, I guess I should probably find somewhere to stay for the night. Maybe I will ask Roland for any recommendations.

I walked back towards the adventurers guild to find Roland. As I was approaching I heard metal clanging. As I turned the corner I saw Roland with his sword out parrying attacks from three shady looking guys.

He noticed me watching "Oh Yuki hey."

"Hey... So do you want any help?"

"Um I don't really need it but sure why not. Let's see what you've got kid"

I felt a slight chill on the back of my neck and my body moved on its own. I leaned slightly forwards and turned quickly before slamming my shin off something soft but sturdy There was a slight crack followed by a scream. I had accidentally spinning kicked someone sneaking up on. A sword flew from hand and stuck into a wooden barrel by the door of the guild hall. I gained the attention of the two other guys who were now looking at me preparing for an attack. I took my sword of my back and unsheathed it in front of me so I could get those style points. I threw my scabbard to Roland. He caught it and took a seat on a step and picked up his beer.

They ran towards my side by side charging me with their swords. I waited for them to be in range of me before striding forwards between them and slicing both of their swords in half. I think I went a little overboard as the shock wave from me accelerating towards them had knocked them both out.

There was a slow clap from behind me. I turned to see Roland was now stood clapping.

"You did better than I expected. Let me buy you a drink."

"Sure."
